Root [ROM][4.0.4][BETA] CM9 for Virgin Mobile and Sprint 10/3/2013

Hey, just wanted to say thanks again to the author, phenom, for this impressive rom.

I was just curious what governor and clock speeds others have had the most success with. I know the recommendations are posted somewhere, but I've lost track of them. Performance, and noop seem to provide the most responsive interface.

Also, I'm wondering what camera application others are using. I used to use camera360 and HD camera, but both of these snap terrible photos compared to the ones that I used to take on stock or sleeper. Stock camera is okay, but there is the exif data glitch and some other things I don't like about it. I would like something with more options along the lines of 360.

Finally, has anybody else had success running the latest netflix and words with friends versions on this rom. Neither of those apps have worked too well for me, but it's not the end of the world.

Thanks again.

That zip will flash a themed/fixed phone.apk over the one that was in the rom. I don't know if it is any better than the 9/17 build phone/mms apk, but it did work rather well for me on the 8/30 build. As I stated, make sure you make a nandroid backup first. If it doesn't help any you can always flash your backup and be right back where you were.:)

If you do a proper nandroid backup, and follow the instructions I gave, I don't think it can hurt anything to try to see if it helps.:)

Sorry if this has already been covered, but my wife and I are both running the 09.17 build, and we have the same MAC address, which I think is preventing us from both connecting to our Wi-Fi. Any thoughts as to solutions? I've looked into temporarily changing the MAC address, which seems doable, but seems like a pain because it must be "redone" every time Wi-Fi is turned off and on. Permanently changing the MAC address seems a little tricky. Thanks in advance for any help!

That phone apk is a multi dpi with full screen caller id . And it solved the wake/ring issue in other builds. It couldn't hurt to try it.

can't connect my wifi with the 9/17 build. AP's show on the list, my AP will save, but it won't connect. Same with McDonalds and Wendy's wifi. they save, but don't connect/obtain ip. I've tried every encryption on my router, and unsecured. /shrug

Can you get me a log?

I had the same problem of no ringtone on incoming calls after I reboot phone. What I noticed was that quiet hours was enabled in the sound setting. I disabled and that seemec to be thesolution.

phenomx4 - THANK YOU very much for your work on bringing ICS to the Optimus Elite! I have successfully completed the re-flashing of your ICS ROM. I've been running a few days now without any major problems. Really liking ICS!

However, I have been noticing the body text of emails disappear. e.g. I tap into Gmail, load the list of emails, tap an email, and the email is displayed headers and all, but after a second or two, the body text of the email turns white / disappears. I try viewing other emails, but experience the same behavior. I've tried both Gmail and K9 apps and both exhibit the issue. I have not yet been able to consistently reproduce the issue.

It seems that I can clear the problem by activating Recent Apps (holding Home button) and swiping Gmail away, going back to Homescreen and re-starting Gmail. But, the issue re-appears and I cannot pinpoint the cause.

Has anyone else encountered this issue and a fix? It is a bit frustrating... Thx!

My research on this problem has revealed its a CM9 issue coupled with the quarky GMail app. The solution, for now, is to go to Settings --> Developer Options, scroll to the bottom and enable 'Kill app back button'.

When GMail displays an email with no text, simply long press the back button to force quit the application. Then go back into GMail and the text should display - at least this has been consistently working for me. Hopefully it will work for all those having this problem as well.

Known issue in CM9 across many devices. Known fixes...
Settings/manage apps
Clear data/cache

Guys - Thanks so much for the quick responses! Good to know at least it ain't me. I'll use the workarounds, but grumble as I do so. :)

starkraving - Specifically, under which app(s) do I clear data/cache?

I'm surprised this bug hasn't been fixed in the core ICS build. It's a pretty annoying usability bug, by software development and release standards. I'm not blaming anyone in particular or raising a complaint. I'm only stating a professional opinion. I'm sure I can go Bingfoo lots of those types of discussions... anywhoo...

In Developer options, I enabled "Show screen updates" and "Show CPU updates" to see if I can provide more info for the issue. So, far the only clue that I have found is when the bug hits, the screen constantly flashes indicating it is stuck updating for some reason. Killing the app seems to release some stuck processes and/or memory to clear the issue upon restart of the app.

For the record, this isn't isolated to the Gmail app. I've seen it reproduce using K9, too.

Should I keep digging into this, or live with it? Is there work to bring CM10 to Optimus Elite? Does CM10 exhibit the same bug? Should I "downgrade" to CM7? Is CM7 available for Optimus Elite? I don't recall this bug in the Virgin Mobile stock ROM...

Sorry for all the questions. The members here are an oracle of knowledge.

Cheers!

Clear it in your Gmail or email app that you're using. When CM9 was prematurely declared "stable" for a lot of devices there were still bugs. But work on CM10 was commencing...

Check! TY

Where do I log bugs for prioritization in phenomx4's CM9 ROM updates and bug fixes? Apologies if I missed a link posted somewhere already. :o

thoughtlover, I had an issue with the phone not ringing as well. What I did was go to System Settings, profiles, and made sure that it was on default. I then adjusted the settings for the ringtone, notification, etc.. in the default profile. This you may, or may not have already tried. Just trying to offer possible solutions.

Also I must note that I am currently on the 8/30 build.

Another possible fix for you, might be to flash this phone/mms zip file in cwm recovery that starkraving posted in an earlier thread. Just remember to make a nandroid backup first. Then wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache. Mount System. Install zip from sd card. Reboot to Recovery. Wipe cache. Wipe Dalvik cache. Fix permissions. Reboot system. Viola.

I'm by no means any expert or anything. I was just reading the boards, saw your post and thought maybe I could offer some useful info. Hope it helps. :)
Unfortunately, neither factory-resetting the phone nor applying the patch worked. The first call after reboot is still silent, as are random calls during the day.

I only re-installed apps I can not function without, so I guess my next step is to eliminate all apps and see if it fixes the problem. Beyond that, I give up.

thoughtlover, I just turned my phone off and back on, and noticed that the first call placed to it, does not ring. I never noticed this happening before. Probably because I sometimes run the phone a long time without restarting. I also here a short beep sound before my custom star wars ringtone blasts into play. Wanted to let you know, that I was just trying offer the only help I knew, with the zip file. I'll investigate further into this. If you would update us, on anything you find out, it would be greatly appreciated. :)

Any thoughts on all of the phones having the same MAC address? Or is this a problem that only I'm having?

I don't remember exactly where but around page 20ish this issue was discussed. I think the stated solution was to permanently change the Mac address. Sorry if this isn't a big help. I'll scroll around to see if I can track down the post I'm remembering.

After I installed this rom originally I checked the box in Settings/Storage/Advanced menu to have apps installed on my external sdcard, it is working perfectly allowing me to save space on the internal storage.
But I've noticed that the internal 2gb sdcard isn't being used at all, which is fine, but I was wondering if any one knows of a way that I can install certain apps on the internal sdcard? While leaving the rom set to use external?
Thanx in advance for any advice

So love the rom but I'm having one problem. My wifi will connect and allow me to use it for about 10 minutes. Then it acts like it drops signal even though it shows it still connected. Its doing this on mine and my wifes elite. Just some background on what's happening to both!

Also, as has been mentioned somewhere in this thread, fixing permissions seems to help with this issue.

There's an app in the Play store, called Fix Permissions that let's you fix permissions application specific without rebooting into recovery. I this has worked for me on various occasions.
