Root [ROM][4.1.2]AWE Inspired Moonshine White/Ginger V2.9a Final[Works with stock device]

OK here's some general rules when downloading a zip for flashing. Don't use your phones data, use WiFi or a PC to ensure a proper download. Check your MD5 for your zip prior to flashing. Read the OP of the author of the zip for ANY specific flashing instructions eg full wipe, mount system and or recommended recovery. BUT firstly and always most importantly make a BACKUP.

I did make a backup, but still can't get this ROM to install. I may have to wait until 2.8 and try it.

Should I delete the zip, erase the SD card, and then redownload?

Googleman I believe you may be having a similar problem to me, not sure how yours came about, but I don't have access to any of my phone besides the recovery, because of faulty encryption. I'm thinking we may need an unbrick method for hard bricks.

Just for u :)

The more options the better. :)

I've been guilty of this since day one. I use my phones data to download everything because I can't afford wifi or get access to it 90% of the time. I've never had an issue with anything yet, but that's probably because I have a solid signal here and I always download roms when I'm not being throttled. Sounds like it's time for me to hit up more of the free hotspots in my area though.

It's not necessarily forbidden to download a ROM over cellular, just less reliable. Use mand5 to check the md5 hash before you use anything you download. If the hash doesn't match what the developer or download website give, don't use it and try again. If no hash is given to check against, request one from the developer.

couldnt u flash the stock recovery then do the media format and things then try to install every thing again I know on my tablet o can boot to ext sd card for my cwm recovery or to stock in case something goes nuts just a thought I heard stock recovery dose better job of format and tbings

Any other recommendations for next release??

Don't know if this is already in there and I'm not seeing it, but if its not, how do you feel about a "long press back button app kill" option in the developer settings? I personally love having that option, its great for testing apps that might not be compatible, or if they flip out due to a bug or become unresponsive. I dont know if thats difficult or possible to add on our phones though.

I also would like the long press back button app kill if it is not too difficult.

I have noticed that my clock does not keep accurate time. After a while the time just gets behind. When I reboot the phone or uncheck/check the automatic date & time box under date & time settings the time gets fixed, but eventually I have to do it again. I am using the stock kernel right now.

So I'm on the white moonshine. My clock seems to fail to keep the right time and falls behind by 15-20 minutes regularly. Every time I send a text it tells me to insert my sim card to send a message. The sim card bug is just cosmetic and doesn't affect much, but it doesn't stop showing the message with every text I send while using hangouts. The clock however is a problem. My phone is my alarm clock and it not being in sync with the time provided by the carrier is a HUGE problem.

Maybe you missed the fact that my phone provides autosyncing with the carrier. I shouldn't have to download something to cover up a bug. This isn't about finding our own fix, this is about letting the devs know about the bug so they can fix it, if they so choose. My clock was fine before I used this particular ROM, so its obviously fixable.

The "insert sim" toast is a product of hangouts and has nothing to do with the ROM. I'm not able to duplicate your issue with the time. Did you do a clean install? What recovery did you use? What rom were you running previously? Can you provide a logcat? Need more information than..."its broken".

Not an expert by any means, but doesn't the insert SIM and messages like that occur because of APN settings? I know that something similar happens to the Moto G on Boost because the ROM doesn't have the APN set to Boost's numbers.

I don't think so. I've manually inputted the apns via voice dialer "open apns" ... The apn config wasn't edited or changed by Earl as far as I know. At any rate I get the toast on this ROM and or the stock odexed/deodexd. So I'm leaning toward the toast generating from Hangouts.
