Root [ROM]Admiral Beast-CWM

Ok, soi got my data to work and is stable-ish.
Now the problem is parts of the screen don't respond; Not like all the time, just sometimes (maybe 1-2 times every other day) & my phone will turn off randomly and will be a b****h to turn on, I might even have to take the battery out a couple times for it to turn back on.

Just wondering if it is only at my end, or are other people having problems as well?

As for the MMS I can receive and send with the stock messenger app.
 
Problem is my MMS always worked. I used stock/go sms pro on stock 2.3.4 and go sms pro on go launcher on the admiral beast v .1. Nobody has any idea how to fix this or figure out wwhat my APN info is suppose to be.

My wife has an admire as well, full stock, not rooted, absolutle full of metro crap. Have only ran into a rare occasion where a standard sms has not come through from her to me. It makes me want to think that this is not an admire problem. Now whether or not it is a metro problem or a rom problem I have no idea and I wouldn't know where to start looking to try and narrow it down
 
Yea this rom is not bad.. but I wish I knew how to port other roms to this phone because bloodawn's ctmod for the Samsung prevail is very nice
...non bloated and deodexed, etc I used it on my Samsung prevail and it crushes the stock rom because it runs so smooth,etc. The other rom that is nice for it is the CyanogenMod, which apparently has been abandoned for the admire which is a shame because it is also nice on the prevail.. too bad we can't get someone to take those on... you would think it wouldn't be as hard to do it considering these phones don't appear to be physically too different hardware wise.. but anyway just more or less thinking out loud ..lol

Hats off to the dev for bring this one... btw does anyone know where I can obtain a stock unrooted rom or rooted rom for the admiral?

hey guys. I got the power control widget buttons to show up.

- put the widget where you want on your homescreen (buttons will be blank)
- go to settings > wireless & networks > wifi settings
- uncheck the wifi box (if it's already unchecked, check/uncheck just for good measure)
- check the wifi box again to turn on wifi
- go back to the homescreen and buttons should be there!

I'm sure there are other ways to do this (probably could do same to gps), but this is what worked for me.

Apparently this is a pretty common 'snafu' for custom ROMs. All credit goes to the people from xda, as this is where I got the info from. [Q] power control widget
 
Hi, got two questions.

One: Is it necessary to wipe battery status after installing the rom?

Two:I am not a fan of swype and would like to put android input on as well as Livewallpapers. I got a sweet galaxy lwp. I downloaded the stock dump to see what to push over. I'm just not sure where to push it to.

No need to wipe bat stats but it won't hurry anything.

Those apps go into system/app
 
We do, i found the folder inside system/ect, and i am looking at the scripts inside of the folder including some that samsung included in this phone, also i am witnessing the changes, its very great.

your wrong, sorry to be frank about it. but unless you are using a custom kernel that enables init.d (which i dont know for certain, but seeing as this is mystery's rom im gunna guess not) then you dont.

@ironmask hey man :D actually hroark ported teh 2.3.6 rom from teh admire to the prevail, takes a bit of snaggling but works fine enough. the cm7 stuff is not all lost, just needs someoen to rise up and take it on, same thing i told teh precedent guys, dont beast yourself up trying to port it.. use teh prevail one and fix any bugs from there. seeing as you guys are using a modified version of teh prevail cwm i can assure you that cm7 would work (minus the kernel.. you need a cm7 kernel but teh rom itself should be bootable)

perhaps message hroark and see if he could whip up a quick cm7 with init.d support kernel for you guys? ;)

as for why i am here is cuz someone asked me to be :P i dont have a lot of spare time so i stop in where and when i can on various devices helping anyone i can

Lol i know, just never been on here nd i got so bored

Also, shabby and mystery when building custom roms or custom kernels do have to have coding knowledge? And what do u have to know

so your telling me if I download this cm7 from the prevail, extract everything, get a working kernal for the admire, add the needed stuff we could get cm7 on the admire? i've found myself coming stuff for the admire recently so maybe we can get this working, if so, hit me up on gtalk inmandexter@gmail.com
 
I'm still having a hard time getting the LWP to work. I pushed it via adb, didn't work. Then used root explorer and didn't work. Tried to change permissions, install as app. Nothing. Also, where is the plain ole, android input rather than swype?

You need to set the proper permissions then reboot

@Shabby Thanks for the info. I will politely ask if he doesn't mind coming over to take a look at it for us... I was thinking that these 2 phones had some things in common... I'd personally like to see the Admire guys get some cynogenmod under there hoods too.. I know these phones aren't exactly the greatest little phones... but they seem to work rather smooth for us broke bastards that can't afford those nice dual cpu phones running the real stuff... but hey.. these phones are still more powerful than the PCs I started plugging away at when I was a grasshopper! :D

Yes I know, but the stock email client had no trouble with my email account setup. I haven't been able to get it working with Maildroid or K-9 :(

What do you mean pull it from the system dump?

Can anyone attach the stock email client .apk please?
 
I've noticed a problem after flashing to this ROM that whenever I reboot or turn on the phone, the SD card is not found or initialized. I have tried waiting for 10+ minutes, but the screen is just black where the home screen should be. I can pull the notifications bar down and my custom lock/unlock sounds still work, but I cannot get to any menus or apps. I have to take out the SD card and reinsert it in order to force detection and the media scan run. I have to do this every time I reboot the phone...

Anyone else have this problem?

I figured out the black screen problem, just go to the launcher prefrences and restart the launcher, ive had that problem with my rom im testing, the sd problem i dont know, i havent went through it yet.
