Root [ROM][ALPHA] Triumph CM9 v0.6.17.0 [FINAL]

Am I the only one that cares less about the camera and more about HDMI? I'd love to see HDMI output working over the camera. :)

I think I speak for most that Camera is what most care about over HDMI ;)

Anyways, so I've gotten away from Gannon's AOKP and gave CM9 another shot. I must admit there has been great improvements since I last tried it. There are some things in AOKP though that I'm starting to really miss ha ha! Perhaps though those can be mentioned later on when its less trivial.

I can see now the new plan with the devs that are still working on the Triumph to come together and tackle one rom (CM9) (actually two with CM7 also) and get it fully working before moving on or back to other projects. I am actually glad to see this. I think it was something that was very well needed in the community. Don't get me wrong each project is fine but it was starting to remind me of linux distros. So many out there that it saturates the community.

So yeah its good to see everyone come together and really tackle one rom and then if it becomes complete it will serve as the mold for all others after and before it. I cant say thank you enough to each and every developer who has stayed with developing for this phone. With the EVO V 4G out now everyone is flocking over to it. Yet I feel that we who dropped 300 dollars on it should get our monies worth rather than drop yet another 300 dollars on another phone.

I'm done ranting at the moment ha ha! Thanks again everyone!

i personally rarely use either, ive actually never used hdmi, i dont even own the cable id need to use it lol, but i can see how having a camera for a spur of the moment event would be nice

and i also like that the dev's have teamed up to figure out issues, the only problem is that that team of dev's has left this site and as far as ive seen havent said whether or not they'll actually post there projects here, im keeping my fingers crossed tho lol

The Clock Widget is DIGI Clock
The Weather Widget is called Palmary Weather Premium, this is the paid version and they do have a free version too.

I also recommend the Live365 App.

If you try the Live365 app, you can check out my 2 stations Party Hitz Radio and 80's Party Machine (shameless plug).

I have not found anything that I do not like with CM9 (except for the camera issue ;)) and love it!!!!

Thanks for the widget names. These are great and something new to mess around with.

I also hardly ever use the camera, which is why I am fine with using CM9 as my main ROM. I had the Samsung Intercept for over a year and only took like 50 pictures with it, partly because of the poor image quality and partly because I don't mind bringing a dedicated camera to vacations, ceremonies, etc.

I've been using CM9 on my Triumph since late April and only had two cases where I actually needed to use the camera on my phone. (Both times I just borrowed a friend's phone to take the photo). For me, a camera with ICS would be nice, but not really necessary.

looks good downloading right now, going to try it out for a day or so and see how i like, cant wait to see where this goes, all it needs is the camera working and maybe the Hdmi would be nice.
thanks for all who helped

Mantera left? Welp, gonna sell the Triumph ASAP before it's price goes down even more.

The price of the triumph has jack to do with developer support.

And it's still a perfectly decent phone with CM7

To this day I cannot fathom why anyone would use their phone as an HDMI playback device.

Yeah, but the phone is horribly outdated. Since the devs are leaving, there's no incentive to keep this phone.

He's got a point. Motorola has no plans to keep this device updated. I don't blame ya if you can't wait for the newest and shiniest. But then again, if that's the case, I don't think Virgin Mobile is the place for you. It's a give and take, and it's not really meant for this thread anyway. :P

Evo 3D meets my conditions pretty well.

I could care less about Motorola right now. They didn't support the phone from day one so it was no big surprise when they said they wouldn't be updating the phone. Does it mean its strictly outdated? Of course not! These devs in this community proved to us that it can run ICS like a champ. Android phones are all about market and not much about the OS. I feel Virgin Mobile had a call in the Triumph not getting an update also to help push sales of the EVO V 4G just so they could say, "IT COMES WITH ICS!"

It's a shame. I'm more than happy with this phone and once Camera and eventually HDMI is working with CM9 I'll be more than happy to hang on to the Triumph. The EVO V 4G is all bells and whistles to me when the Triumph with even the current CM9 actually suites my needs very well.

I want to use it for the few times that I want to output to my television. I could build an HTPC and stream what I want that way, but with how little I'd do it I can't justify the cost. The same as giving up my Triumph for the Evo 4G (I also heard/read somewhere that if you are grandfathered into a VM plan, as soon as you switch phones, you lose that price). Like another poster had said, people have learned to live with it and I will too since it's not that important.

I'll being keeping my CM7 version of my Triumph for a while longer. :)

I did try CM9 for a few days and really liked it. Sadly, I found out that I missed my camera more than I had thought I would. I use it with the Walgreen's app to reorder my prescriptions and with my QR reader. But I did notice that the battery did not last as long as it does with CM7 (I ran Juice Defender Ultimate in all instances) I get almost 2 days on a charge with CM7 and just over a day and a half with CM7. I was overall very impressed with the performance.

I did just buy a HDMI cable from Ebay for $5 just in case I needed it. If not this phone, maybe the next.

I personally will be using the Triumph until next Spring at least. I bought my phone in Feb with part of my tax return and cannot justify spending $300 (after taxes ;-) ) and using the product for a few months. But, I do have the insurance and could upgrade earlier in case that is my only option if something unforeseen happens to my Triumph.

I am waiting patiently for a camera solution on CM9 and then I will be all over that bad boy.

On a side note, I ran Quadrant Standard (not sure about this apps reliability) and my Triumph scored just over 2000 using CM9 and it dropped to 1800 on CM7. I ran these tests out of curiosity but it's nice to know.

hmm thats interesting u got 1800 on cm7...i got 2400+ on my tweaked cm9 with performance tweaks and i got +2600 on the re-stocked cm7. i got great battery life on cm9 compared to cm7. cm7 i had like 2-3% battery drain idle per hour while cm9 i had 1% battery drain idle. i loved cm9 but in terms of performance, cm7 was the best. i believe if we get more kernels for ics on triumph, cm9 would definitely exceed cm7.

I'm very new to playing with the settings on my phone. I currently use Interactive as my governor and do not overclock. While the numbers are low, I am happy with the performance of my Triumph. I do not game much, except for 7 Words or 3D Bowling so go figure.

As for battery life, I purchased a 2000mAh battery from ebay and am happy with the amount of standby time I get. For example, I unplugged my phone at 6pm last night and just plugged it in (11 am local time) to recharge and it still had %75 battery left. This forum has been helpful with ideas to get more battery life. I used to run WiFi while unplugged around the house to save data, but found it hard on the battery. I now shut off WiFi when not charging since I rarely use half of my 2.5 monthly data allotment.

Try smartassv2. It really makes CM9 snappy! :D

I am very excited about the progress on this. I got this a little over half a year ago when I was hearing it was a good deal and really do not want to consider buying another $300 phone.

I've tested this and am very impressed by how stable it is. I'm slowly rebuilding settings and contacts and so on. I can take or leave the camera. That's not why I bought the phone anyway.

I do have a question though. Does anyone else have trouble with the GPS? I'm using .6.15.1 and have not been able to get a good lock in Google Maps yet. I know others had trouble in stock, but for me stock had a lock time of about 30 seconds or so and was always successful even when raining (though I never used it during severe thunderstorm level cloud cover so I can't say what the limits were). Even now under a clear sky it takes some time. I'm wondering if it's an issue with the governer (I'm using smoothassv2 on recommendation in this thread) or some other tweak I need to do to make it work right.

Thank you for all the hard work.

30 secs on stock??? Man thats good! On stock for me it would always take at least a good full minute before it'd lock on. I read that it was a hardware issue but could be wrong.

well if he is actually updating it just look at it like this, the speed on uploading files depends on the file size, your pc's speeds, your internet speeds, and the site your uploading it to itself

so it can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours

editing a post and adding the new change log only takes as fast as you can type lol

i believe the final release is just kernel changes according to the changelog. if u guys want the latest kernel....check out gannons aokp b39 thread.....as he does have the latest kernel..........im not linking it but i just hinted where to find it. no i am not trying to promote his rom. i am just saying for those who want 61 mhz underclock smoothass governor and other stuff i believe..that is where u want to find it. if u dont want aokp but u want the kernel...just take the boot.img file..

on topic: cant wait for the final release :)

Changelog:
Alpha 0.6.16.1
-Enabled btwlancoex

Alpha 0.6.16.0
-kernel: enabled 61 MHZ
-kernel: Added Smoothass governor
-updated build base to 4.0.4_r2.1 (IMM76L)
-upstream CM additions/fixes

Ok, so I finally got these builds up. It's the latest and greatest cm9 code. I tested the 0.6.16.0 build but not the .1 build; although, I don't expect any issues with .1 compared with .0 because the only thing that is different is the btwlancoex calls in init.triumph.rc.

So now I have no MT's left to test with and so this may be the last build from me.
