Root [ROM][ALPHA] Triumph CM9 v0.6.17.0 [FINAL]

I flashed the newest version this afternoon. I have noticed that every time it goes into sleep mode, I cant turn the screen on. I even tried plugging it in which usually wakes it up, it didnt. When I had 0.6.9, it would only do it occasionally. The only way I can reset it is to take the battery out. Then its fine. Is anyone else having this problem with the newest version?? Also, I know when you flash a newer version of the same rom your on, you just have to clear caches, does it work the same way if I wanna flash to a older version of the same rom?? Also, do we need to flash gapps every time we update the rom?? I dont remember doing it before but when I flashed this afternoon, I had no market or my contact list. I flashed gapps and it all came back.

Sleep of death -- no, I don't have that problem. Have you tried a wipe data/factory reset?
Flash to an older version - yes, you can do the same thing as upgrading.
flash gapps - yes, you should flash GAPPS every time that you flash a new version.

Not sure how to actual test this other than going into performance settings and regardless of what i set the cpu speed to, when i enable wifi it shows under current speed peaked out and remains there.

The issue according to what people have reported only occurs when you have bluetooth and wifi enabled at the same time and are using them simultaneously. I personally have never seen the issue but I also don't use a lot of BT devices at the same time that I have wifi enabled. However, with the number of people, including tickerguy, who have reported it, I'm pretty sure that it was an issue in cm7. Whether it is also an issue in cm9, we don't know for sure yet...

I didn't have any problems. I've tried both flashing over v0.6.9.x as well as after doing a wipe data/factory reset. Both times, it booted up just fine.

If you haven't yet, try doing a wipe data/factory reset and then flash. See if that makes a difference.

I did do a wipe of data/factory reset and then flash, but it still won't boot. I appreciate the help though. Maybe the file is being corrupted or something when I download it. I noticed when its installing the zip file it will install way faster than other zip files that do boot. I don't know if that makes a difference. Thanks again. :D

If I do a backup right now of CM9, then do a factory reset (to see if the sleep of death still occurs), then restore my backup, would that defeat the purpose of doing a factory reset??

Yeah, sounds like you may have a bad download. redownload and try again.

I assume you mean that after you are done testing and then restore your backup? Then yes, that would defeat the purpose of doing a factory reset.

Amazing work first and foremost. I flashed your new version to test and it seemed more sluggish than the the previous build. I also stayed at cpu max with wifi on and no bluetooth on. I normally got quadrant scores between 2300 and 2500 on the previous build. One today's I get anywhere between 1700 and 2000. Also the input seems out of wack. Now multiple presses are needed unlike in the previous build. I reflashed back to the previous 9.4 for now until your recommendation. I have never posted until now because I know you wanted feedback. Only issue I had otherwise was voicemail notification sticking. Thanks for a great ROM and making my inner circle jealous.

You suggested doing a factory reset to see if that will take care of my sleep of death problem. What Im wondering is how can I keep all my settings and apps after doing a factory reset. The only reason I would be doing the reset is because Im having the sleep of death problem. Would restoring the back up defeat the purpose of doing a reset then??

mantera: Can you start posting md5s of the zip files?

lowbo32: I just downloaded the latest update and got an md5 of e5e0c14927e13b86e5adc4c5af5cf7fe. Can you compare this to the one you downloaded? You can check it with a utility like WinMD5Sum or (my favorite) HashTab.

okay I did what you asked and got this:

CRC32: 69BBAE88
MD5: E5E0C14927E13B86E5ADC4C5AF5CF7FE
SHA-1: 87CD2D94B21852DD132D9F39C1AF577622C84A01

Hopefully this helps.

Changelog:

Alpha 0.6.9.10.3
-disabled btwlancoex again so that we can compare with 0.6.9.10.2
-also set Interactive as the default governor but that should have no bearing in the the comparison.

This build is basically just so we can compare the rom with btwlancoex enabled and disabled.

Let me know which one seems to run better in your opinion. Thanks.

I just tried flashing this one and its still won't boot. I guess I'm sol...:(

10.2 works as well. Not having any of the issues as with 10.3. Ran bluetooth for awhile and I have not had a maxed out cpu load. No touch screen issues or sluggishness either . Thanks for the hard work. If you looked up awesome in the dictionary your picture would be there.

So, I flashed 10.2 and got it all set-up and running about 1hr 40min ago. I just checked the board here & saw the update to 10.3. I went and checked CPUspy and for the 1hr 40min on 10.2, 1hr 38min of that time the CPU was maxed out. I had wifi on but the phone was setting idle with the screen off and off charger. I'll delete that file and report back.

Internet Calling (Phone App->Settings->Internet Call Settings) works, however, the MUTE button during an active internet call is not working.

This ROM just gave new life to my Triumph as a home cordless phone. :)

OK, I went into system/bin and deleted the btwlancoex file and now for 1hr 30min; maxed out @ 1516MHz for 26min, min freq @ 122MHz for 35min, and all other frequencies various times between 1min and 4min.

This was with minimal use, e.g. checking a few text messages and email here and there, using Google Earth to look someplace up. When not in use, phone was idle with screen off and WiFi on. Phone was off charger entire time. Governor used is Interactive.

Therefore, from my testing at least, I would say that the btwlancoex file still maxes out the CPU at all times when wifi is on just as it did on CM7 and when the file is not present the CPU runs between max & min with an even distribution at all frequencies in between.

Also, at no time did my phone go into deep sleep which, unless I am mistaken, it is unable to do with WiFi on.

Hope that helps mantera. :)

This only happened when wifi and BT were used simultaneously.

I may be wrong, but I think that is incorrect. Back at the beginning of February this was an issue that was discussed because it was maxing out the CPU with WiFi on regardless of BT status and it was suggested to remove the file.

Try deleting the "/system/bin/btwlancoex" file, wasn't sure if that was needed yet in CM9. If it works, then my CM7 commit should also be applied to CM9:

Tickerguy only added kernel wakelock for the WLAN, not the 3G data.

All I know is that during my little experiment yesterday, I did not have BT on at any time and with the btwlancoex file present in system/bin my CPU was maxed out @ 1516MHz for 1hr 38min out of the 1hr 40min that my phone was idle with the screen off and off the charger.

Mantera what difference does a new a kernel for our phone make?

It could help fix a lot of the little things that people are experiencing as well as make it easier to port/fix things in the rom since ICS was designed to be used with a 3.0 kernel and having a newer kernel closer to that may make things work better.

I didn't even realize that the Internet Calling worked at all. I don't use that. :) Good to know.

Can you clarify what you mean? Are you saying that for you, both 10.3 and 10.2 work about the same?

I just tried flashing this one and its still won't boot. I guess I'm sol...:(

Try taking the boot.img from the 0.6.9.4 ROM and place that into the 0.6.10.2 or x.10.3 ROM using WinZip, 7-zip or another zip utility and then try flashing that and see if it makes a difference.

So does that mean that we are slowly getting our phone to work with the 3.0 kernel?

One thing I noticed is that the Google car app was pre installed in other roms but now wont work even for download in v0.6.10.3. Might be just me or the new gapps zip. Just wonder if its the same for everyone. Thanks Mantera and the others of the dev team.

So I'm just stupid apparently it isn't supported for ICS...
