Root [ROM][ALPHA] Triumph CM9 v0.6.17.0 [FINAL]

I agree that this is what Google had more in mind, but there are just so many apps still that use the menu button. I for one don't mind using it. I just wish I could feel the vibration when the multitasking windows activate.

I understand your point. On a related note, I managed to find out how those HTCs handle apps that need a menu button. Apparently, the action bar will then pop up with just the menu button displayed. So, not the most elegant solution, but I for one still think it'd be neat to have that button repurposed.

Maybe the next release could be made with two versions so you could try it if you want. Unfortunately, you'll have to keep doing that for every build. Scratch that. Just ignore this post :p

Jumped on this to use for a few days, but wondering if I can over clock/under clock?

I have SetCPU and no matter what frequency I set it to it stays running at 1ghz

&sorry I don't keep up with this thread..

Lol. Well, maybe some kind of toggle in the settings? Or an editable text file? I don't know anything really useful about Android development, I'm just throwing ideas at the wall.

Could be SetCPU doesn't work right with CM9. In any case, on the rare occasion that I overclock, I go to performance in the settings and set it there. Works for me.

Tried that too and other apps like CPU master and no frills... settings stick but it doesn't actually change anything still runs at a constant 1ghz

Unless the monitor on these apps and others don't work on CM9

Go into the Developer Options in Settings. Turn on Apps and ADB in the Root Access section and then see if they work.

Go to settings and performance change it from on demand to smartassv2 then to configure. Note this will drain your battery more if you over clock it. And underclocking could cause your phone to not respond at timed. Make sure you make a backup before you attempt.

I have had the same problem using other overclock utilities. I think that is because this ROM is still alpha and CM9 has its own clock settings too. This might require fixes from both ROM and app developers. However, I have discovered that clock settings will stick if you use CM9's overclock settings.

Also, clock and voltage settings may revert back to default after a reboot. This is a safety mechanism because your custom clock or voltage settings could be the cause of the reboot. This reset can happen even if the reboot was manually triggered by you and not by a crash. To avoid this, restart your phone by shutting it down and then starting it again manually. Don't use reboot unless necessary.

I have my phone's range set to 122 - 1500 and cpu spy shows that all of my available frequencies in between are used as it goes up and down based on usage. Of course, the most used frequency is 122 and Deep Sleep since my phones been idle for most of the time.

Are you using the latest build of cm9? If not, try that. I assume those other apps use init.d to set the clock after a reboot and init.d did not work in previous builds.

A normal reboot should be fine. The whole point of doing a normal reboot is that during the shutdown process, the OS properly terminates all running processes.

However, if you do an unclean shutdown, such as an OS crash or if you pull the battery, etc, is when your settings will be reverted to default.

At least, I've never had a problem when using the reboot option with the settings not getting reapplied when it restarts.

Since flashing the new build (wiped data and reset before hand), the phone will not enter deep sleep anymore. I cant tell whether there is some setting or maybe a certain app is misbehaving, or whether it is something that broke since the last build. If it has, then this is to let the Devs aware. If its not, I'll try re-flashing i guess and see if it fixes it (since im sure thats the first thing you guys will tell me to try :) ).

By the way, after coming back to ICS after using CM7 as my daily driver, I have noticed that this ROM has jumped way up on the performace scale, wow, great job guys this is doing quite well.

If you have the build that is listed as having btwilcoex then it will not enter deep sleep, try downgrading to a .0 build

Interestingly enough, I am using the .0 build without the btwlancoex enabled. that is where i was confused. And also when I check to see what is using battery, it will not give me any app usage stats, only the stats such as Awake/Wifi/GPS/Screen on etc.

edit: I have installed the CM9 Reloaded ICS mod but I cant see how that would have any effect on the deep sleep issue (but I could be wrong)

The CPU performance settings in the rom stick after an ordinary reboot. However, if I have System Tuner programmed to load my custom settings at boot (init.d), they do not stick. They revert back to defaults - both CPU and voltage settings. They would often stick if I just shut it down instead of rebooting - not all the time though.

I am using the current ROM and have confirmed that init.d does work properly. I changed the name of the init.d file created by System Tuner to keep it from changing the settings and deleting the file. I then disabled ST's apply at boot option. Now when I start or reboot using the renamed init.d file, the voltage settings do stick. The voltage settings are stable and have not caused a single reboot. Oddly, I still use ST but only to verify the settings!

I also tried incredicontrol again, but it too had problems retaining voltage settings - even in the absence of a forced reboot.

Can we ask Tickerguy to help with the camera on CM9?
I guess the person who contacted him last time should give it a shot.. seeing how we have been stuck for quite some time now.

Just wanted to say this is better than I expected cleaner than I thought. Nicer than I imagined, and slicker than snot. :):):)
( see what I did there)

Are screen render modes available in CM9? This feature is something I'd like to see on our version of CM9, if possible.

That said, thanks for the great work so far! :D

Ive been dying for the camera ever since the release of instagram for Android haha. Great ROM though, amazingly stable for an alpha.

Alpha hell its rc1 without camera
Or should I say beta as soon as cm calls it that any way good vibes very encouraging(lol I'm broke so all I got is enthusiasm) :(

Is it safe to download and use this rom as daily rom now? Any significant issues? MMS, WIFI, Internet or calling issues? I tried the 3rd release. It was pretty laggy. Can it be used as regular rom now?

In my opinion yes if u can deal with no camera it is super smooth especially the newest release u can most definately use this as as daily driver

It was a little laggy the first two boots but after that smooth also turned on zram on that boot so I wasn't sure witch it was that helped. its only day two for me.
Edit: also added a tweak script for internet steaming and 3g

I used it as my daily for a bit more than a month. The only reason I switched back was for the camera.

I would recommend it if you don't need the camera.
