Root [ROM][ALPHA] Triumph CM9 v0.6.17.0 [FINAL]

Is it me or is there a problem with this ROM? I have noticed that after 5 updates, the original problems of:

what doesn't work:
-Camera
-Tethering (USB)
-Netflix streaming
-HDMI

still are not fixed. Is there anyone working on these problems? Who is assigned to get the hardware to work?

I have a tablet with the same problem. There have been several updates to the ICS ROMs but still no fixes to hardware which doesn't work. Finally, one programmer admitted that they have no one on the team qualified to fix hardware problems.

Needless to say, is the problem with ICS on the MT? Is there no one qualified to fix hardware problems?

It's more like a problem of not having full source code for the MT so devs are working as hard as they can trying to work around not having source code. Be patient they will be fixed eventually.

I never said I was "qualified" to do anything... If you're unhappy with the rate of progress on this, you're more than welcome to work on the features and fix them yourself.

I agree matera. You are my hero man. I wanna learn how to code and program just so I could dev for the android community. Its such a great group of people buy in large and I for one am so glad you're part of it. Thanks again.

Really the only thing is the camera, and i barely use mine, and the battery life is great, one of the better ROMS here. Just some things to be fixed, but its a ALPHA not even in beta stage yet. Also, when i update from v0.6.12.0 to the new version do i have to wipe all the caches or what?

You don't "have to," but it's never a bad idea.

I'm thinking of going back to CM7 :(

Can't really use the stock messaging app because it seems to not have the option to split large messages.

Also automatic brightness isn't there. (Not that it's any good anyway.)

I continue to run into times when I need to use my camera.

Go Weather requires go launcher...so I don't even get to use the stock ICS launcher. :(

Can't really seem to find download links to anything above 0.6.12.0..? lol. Not ROM related though.

So the only time I find myself really interacting with ICS is during multi tasking...which there's mods for now.

Is there a link for the new Alpha 6.13.0 release? I noticed it in the changelog. I've been following the ICS development and using the Alpha releases. Even with Alpha, it seems like everything is working, except for the camera, of course. But I've never been much for taking pictures anyways. The only bug I have is that sometimes text messages aren't sent. But that could be because I'm using Go SMS Pro. Anyways, keep up the good work.

The other things I can see - I've always used Handcent for SMS because it can be set to split by word, and not just split messages and cut words in half. How large of messages are you talking about? If I remember right, the default messaging app would convert mine to MMS instead of SMS if it was more than 3-5 texts long for the carrier but it has been a while since I've used it.

For auto-brightness - pull the notification bar down and there you'll find quick-keys to access wifi, bluetooth, airplane mode, and brightness settings which one of the options it cycles through is 'auto'

Hope this helps, but understand not being able to use the camera if needed.
:thrasher:

I flashed back to CM7, couldnt go without the camera any longer :(

Ill definitely be coming back to CM9 though when the camera is fixed!

Mantera, to get the Messaging app to split sms, you just need make a change to this file:
/android/packages/apps/Mms/res/xml/mms_config.xml

Just change
<bool name="enableSplitSMS">false</bool>
obviously to
<bool name="enableSplitSMS">true</bool>

I just made that change, rebuilt, and pushed it and it is splitting again. Its annoying they removed that from the options as there are still a few carriers (like VM) that don't automatically split sms messages.

I dont think it was anything wrong with that guy saying after 5 updates the same stuff is not working.

No one is blaming the devs for it not working. I've been following this forum for a while and have seen major and necessary improvements to this ROM over that time.

That guy making the point inadvertently helped solve the SMS splitting problem thanks to wsimon.

We shouldn't try to silence people. Us humans are very resourceful especially when it comes to scouring the internet. so why not let people know whats being worked on and maybe they can find resources for that.

Also I read that Motorola DID in fact release a SWUpdate for the Triumph but it was rejected by VM/Sprint ...how about we look for that on the net.

Also can someone point me to a youtube video of them building a rom for the triumph? I think it would help people who have no ROM building experience to jump in and grasp it fairly quickly...im talkin about pulling from the github sources and all

....Im just sayin.....

i dont think it was so much what he said as How he said it, reading it to myself i also thought it sounded a bit negative and disrespectful, but it could have also been what was said, everyone knows the dev's work extremely hard to get this stuff working, and thru other threads you can see all drivers for this device havent been figured out, so the devs are working extremely hard while coming up with creative fixes or workaround to fix these issues

which im personally very greatful for cause i wouldnt be able todo any of the things ive done to my phone without them and there hard work

yea I feel u. I Luv the devs too. My ICS Triumph slices and dices thru apps I can multitask like its nobodys bitness. OH and dont let me bump up the cpu frequency provided via the easily accessible performance menu, my triumph out performs all my friends and does it so beautiful and gracefullyl

LOVE YOU DEVS!!! - how about a video tho 4real

I installed this from yesterday anfd I rebooted it just now but it only boots to the first splash screen (not cm9 screen) it won't boot into recovery either? I will go to download mode but nothing else..... any ideas/fixes

Edit: never mind removed SD card and tried to get to recovery and it worked. Inserted it back in and from recovery booted back into recovery

Also, the two main devs for the Triumph have left the device, so all we have are a few dedicated people trying to jump in fresh, and they don't seem to have the same skill level or time as Issac or TickerGuy. They seem to be doing the best they can and giving it everything they have, but I personally doubt we'll ever see CM9 actually released with everything working. I don't really care, I'm happy with CM7, and it would be unfair for me or anyone else to expect random folks on the internet to dedicate everything they have to making our phones better.

If someone could find that update, it would be awesome
