Root [ROM][AOSP]dGB v01_28_2012| 2.3.5| 375MB /data| 60MB /system |Mult-lang |Unlock |Reboot[28 Jan]

I've flashed the alpharev stock hboot image with Fastboot Commander V.1.51 & thought I would try flashing teppic74s rooted stock ROM to see if that works but it aborted with the following message:

E:Can't symlink /system/bin/stop
E:Failure at line 10:
symlink toolbox SYSTEM:bin/stop
Installation aborted

So I guess that leaves my with applying a RUU.

is there a guide?

Do I put it on the sd via mount usb storage the access by apply sdcard update zip?

All I can find by searching is how to apply it from a phone that works using htc sync.

Boot while pressing the "back" key. That will take you to fastboot mode and you can run the RUU with the phone in that state.

An RUU won't replace a modern alpharev hboot (apart from the special "downgrader" one), so you'll still be S-Off afterwards.

Is there any way I can tell if the stock hboot has applied ok?

My screen says
--- AlphaRev ---
Bravo PVT1 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002

tried the gingerbread update but failed on the same points.

Can you suggest an RUU? I'm with O2 but it was never branded or locked.

If it was originally unbranded then you could try RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe
(Froyo), or the 2.3.

But if there's the possibility that this one's going in for warranty, do what SUroot says and flash the alpharev downgrader hboot first. That way the RUU can replace your hboot - if HTC see an alpharev hboot there's no warranty, whereas if the phone is unbootable but the HBOOT and recovery are the official ones it should look OK.

I'd try the Froyo RUU first, since if that fails you can try the GB one again (the GB one has a newer hboot in it, so I'm pretty sure you won't be able to run the Froyo RUU once that's installed).

I will try the one you recommend. If I need to flash the recovery hboot I might have a problem as I now cant get into anything other than a black screen with htc in the middle and caution triangles in the corners.

That's probably because of the RUU, which will replace your custom recovery.

But you still have the alpharev hboot, so you will be able to fastboot flash the downgrader hboot. Once you've done that it's just a matter of running an RUU - there's nothing else to do, and you don't need a custom recovery for this.

Put it in fastboot mode (boot while pressing the back key) and fastboot flash it. Then run the RUU.

As long as the bootloader works you can do that.

Flashed the downgrade hboot & the gingerbread upgrade RUU. Will try to get a repair under warranty. If sucessful I may or may not come back to dGB. I still think it is the ultimate ROM for the desire but I thought I understood what I was doing. Not so sure I do now!

Sorry Dan for hijacking your thread & thanks to you all for the help you have given so freely!

This hasnt been caused by a misunderstanding. Its just one of those things.

dGB is like any other rom that advises a custom Hboot.

Probably a REALLY stupid question, but I assume I can just install this update right over the old one with out having to wipe. As it's an update of the same ROM.

I know the answer is yes, but I just want to make sure.

Andy.

SHOULD be ok, but if not, wipe.

Gonna try and push a new version over the weekend with custom dGB-ManU kernels. Probably best to wait IMHO.

Its more like trying to bug fix, but I havent done it yet. Will be removing the 300 volume step too, plus adding a custom kernel compiled just for me by Eviollet. Lower values, WiFiLow (like Manu 1.4) but on a 2.1 base. This will remove the need to tweak voltage values by script (although values are higher than the current script)

Also I have to say dan with all honesty, im running mildwild 2.9.5 at the min and its the first rom I've tried since dgb v1.0 and its good but it's also made me realise how much I prefer a stripped down back to basics rom, such as dgb. I also am not really bothered with the fancy touches mildwild has put in as there are mostly all achievable with apps or a bit of themeing, the only things I've seen which I'd love to see in dgb are 1, reboot to recovery and fastboot in power menu
2, if poss the hardware acceleration as it does seem to run fast
3, the swipe to remove notifications
4, the webkit acceleration
This is by no means a complaint or a criticism of dgb as I'm 99% certain ill be rocking it again in few days. Also the camera is nice in mildwild and i like the torch app, i may have to include that when I restore my dgb.
