Yes Casanunda. I only really started usb charging ever since I put on dgb since the low battery usage is so much easier to manage than the hog it used to be.

If it's not the background apps, then the only other I can think of is the battery wasn't full charged before doing all the flashing. I think the OS stores the battery level and handles the battery charging, but re-flashing the OS and turning it on the first time how does it treat the battery level?

I'm sorry if I give you more questions than answers. I'm not too deep into the Android atm, so all I can offer is ideas. :(

This is nothing I've heard of before. Perhaps someone who knows about these things could confirm if this is true please?

Battery stats are not affected by a ROM-change, as I understand things.

The reason you should have a charged phone when you're flashing a ROM is that if the battery dies midflash you could be left with a paperweight in the shape of your favourite phone.

When we talk about battery stats, this is how much % screen on is etc. Every time you plug in a charger, the batt stats are wiped.

Right.

What I thought I said was that the flashing of a new ROM will not recalibrate the battery.

Bad choice of words (too lazy to proofread).

Are the battery stats wiped when the OS senses a power source or when the battery reaches a certain voltage to trigger a full charge?

If it's the former, then in the case of Ducky1979, when they changes to a second battery, just quickly plug/unplug the charger to recalibrate the % display to the new battery is ok?

@Casanunda
Good to know it's charging well, though I wish we could have figured why it acted like that. From what I understand, the Android also controls battery charging. Whether it can throttle the current or just turn it on/off is beyond me. Btw, your battery is not bulging?

@Flumme
Go full charge so it won't die mid-flash is also how I understood it, but thanks for bringing it up.

I dont think you fully understand what Battery stats are.

Battery stats are not "you have 63% battery left". Battery stats are "of the battery you have used, 14% was used by the screen, 12% was cell standby and 9% was Browser".

Battery stats do not tell you how full or how empty the actual battery is. Just what has been using the battery and what percentage of used battery was used by what.

Oops, I'm so embarrassed. ( ゚Д゚) All the while before your post I thought the code for battery stats and battery % were tightly connected. I turned off the % on the lockscreen for lying. lol

Don't be. I have a feeling that most are under a similar impression

Thanks for the comfort. Before I knew any better about how to treat Li-Ion batteries, I always waited until the % goes near empty before I plug in to recharge. That was back in my Nokia days. With the dgb, I either charge on day 4 or earlier if my % dips below 35%. Speaking of charging, I suddenly remembered back in University. Some of my friends had the luxury of owning a Nokia 2110 and the joy of having to charge it at least every day. I was lucky my folks totally opposed the idea of my having a cell at the time, until they gave in and the 6150 came out. Many a years later, luck ran out after experiencing Sense... Here's something I found useful on the web re: Desire batteries. Retraite active HTC Desire battery shutdown analysis

It's working, hooray! Thank you :heart:

Also check out MapDroyd. It's based on Open Street Map, so coverage isn't always ideal (it's great where I am though). I can zoom in a lot further on it than on Google Maps, so I find it much more useful in streets than GM. It tends to have short-cuts and alleyways as well which can often be missing from GM. Finally, you can download the maps to SD card, so it works in no/poor connectivity.

Anyway, I have both on my phone as I find them complimentary.

@adskankster Thanks, I've been looking for one that can store offline maps since I didn't get an internet plan here. Doubly great if I can use the maps from the garmin on the android.

hi Dan.

back on dGB28 now and loving it :-) thanks.
very smooth and so much ram :-D
on my last cm7 flash ram dropped to 45m at one point!!

cheers

I accept the fact that you're like a child with itchy underwear when it comes to ROMS ;) .. but I like it that you always come back to your trusty Y-fronts :) :)

By the way, great ROM, love the minimalistic approach with huge /data partition (as huge as it will get on the Desire lol)

The one question I do have is, any way to get the "Notification while charging" feature or am I just missing the setting somewhere in the ROM? The only little thing I do miss having when I switched from Oxygen. I searched but can't seem to find the answer anywhere.
