Root [ROM][AOSP]dGB v01_28_2012| 2.3.5| 375MB /data| 60MB /system |Mult-lang |Unlock |Reboot[28 Jan]

On the november version, I couldn't seem to be able to install google maps. I thought it would come in handy in case I get lost in a forest. I just gave up since I thought maybe it had too many dependencies that can bloat the dgb. May I have a piece of your advice on the matter or maybe alternatives?

Google maps installs fine from the market and should work perfectly from dGB v1 - date.

Do you get an error or something?

I can't find it in the MP when I search using the phone, but the PC displays it and under my device it says

Globe HTC HTC Desire
"This item cannot be installed in your device's country." Kweh?

Maybe my phone name is wrong? My second device is Samsung GT-P1010, but that long gone sold good riddance (along with the dead pixels bah).

Since you say it works, I have to believe this is an isolated case. I just don't recall my phone being carrier locked or if that is even the case. I'll try again after removing the SIM or maybe airplane mode.

Btw, I'm only confused cuz Google Maps updates and can be found back in ofw.

When I googled for market compatibility, I read something about the build.prop file. So I peeked into dgb and saw the following:

ro.product.model=HTC Desire
ro.product.brand=htc_wwe
ro.product.name=bravo
ro.product.device=bravo
ro.product.board=bravo
ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi-v7a
ro.product.cpu.abi2=armeabi
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC

I wonder if my problem will be solved by changing the model to just "Desire"? It's just a wild guess after reading the device compatibility list.

No its not that. Thats not your devices country. Thats your device. If this was wrong, it would say its not compatible with your device. It would also affect all of us dGB users.

You're definitely right SUroot. My guess was totally off and after much oogling, I don't really wanna force things to even try getting maps in it. Sigh, time to unpack the garmin. :(

It's a free app. Someone could give you the apk and legally upload it here for you.

Not ideal for updates though.

I can't do it myself right now though

This latest version takes the ROM to another level. No matter what I do I can't drain the battery! Its awesome! Still on 75% since 6am this morning.

I second this. Phone been off charge since 7am(ish) and light browsing and a few short phone calls and texts.. Its now 5:17 and I'm pleased to announce I'm on 74%. I can't believe I used to be so restrictive with my phone to make it last a day and so I could use it at the gym/evening. A worry of the past now. :D

I think my battery must be toast ive just inserted my second battery and its gone from 97% to 80% in 16 minutes. Reckon ill have to be getting a new one, its lasting nothing like what's being reported on here, can anyone recommend a place to get an official htc one at a non extortionate price please?

That's great. I thought distro of google's apps outside market was not allowed. At least this makes me feel less sitting under an apple tree. lol

Hi ducky, may I recommend an app I use to check on battery, cpu and processes? It's called OS Monitor. If someone else here can vouch it's usefulness, at least it won't cost a septim to be pretty sure your batt is in dire need of retirement. :)

Changing batteries has an adverse effect on how your phone recognises the amount of power you have remaining.

Are you familiar with nexus one battery calibrator and how precisely to use it?

If your referring to the app, I have used it before and i believe I was doing it right, but if you could elaborate on how it should be done that would be appreciated, cheers dan.

I finally got round to S-off and flashing dGB yesterday, and I would like to thank you SURoot for your hard work, it's very good.

I have one small question however; working in an office I use the USB cable to charge my phone quite a lot, and since flashing dGB it seems to take forever to charge this way. (Which isn't so much of an issue seeing as how it lasts a lot longer now!) I just wondered, is this normal, or specific to my phone?

Thanks.

Charge shouldnt be effected... :$

It will always take twice as long on USB from PC (500mA) from USB on AC/DC (1000mA) but I cant think of anythign else...

I know it will normally take longer than when plugged into the mains - I'm used to that. It's weird, and I couldn't think of any reason why it would behave like that. Not to worry as I said, it's not causing a huge issue, I was merely curious.

Cheers.

Thanks Dan, ill get this sorted asap, ill have to do it with both batteries, your a legend sir, so I take it this does make a difference?

Just do it with one. It calibrates your phone with teh battery, buit if you change teh battery, you calibrate the phone to that battery instead.

Hi Casanunda, I also usually charge mine on the laptop. It seems to take longer for me too, but only when I'm using the phone and conscious about the charge time. In case I forget, I plug it in at home to an ipod charger which I think is also 500mAH. Maybe there are background apps causing the CPU util to spike even if the unit is on standby?

Do you mean since flashing dGB as well Crystalyn?

You could be right about background apps, however I didn't put anything odd back onto mine since I installed dGB, only apps which I've used for ages.

For the record though, since it was charging so slowly, a couple of days and a reboot since, it seems to charge as normal again now...
