[ROM][BETA] CyanogenMod 10 for the LG Lucid

Well I jumped the gun on that log. Now successfully on 2.3.6 Now just gotta get cyanogen yay!

Furthernote, I guess some of the programs either with the phone or to downgrade are not compatible with xp; I tried forever. Goodbye XP, I knew ye well.

Following the instructions to root (finally on 2.3.6 GB), I now get this message when running the run batch for the spectrum root:

[*]
[*] LG Spectrum Root Exploit (Windows version)
[*] by Dan Rosenberg (@djrbliss)

* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
[*] Device found.
link failed No such file or directory
[*] Rebooting device...
[*] Waiting for device to reboot...

I tried manually rebooting to see if that would do it...no luck. Sometimes it doesn't get past "Waiting for Device."
If it helps, when I boot my phone up, I get like 20 messages to force close some cloud apps. Do I need to factory reset or something? I tried vol. down + power, but it just restarts the phone...Arg

I meant debugging in regular mode but you're past it so...

Oh lol -Again, is it in debugging mode? Like does USB Debugging show up in the status bar? Have to activate it in settings since you reflashed.

Strange, does it ask for a password on the device?

It says that it is activated, and ya I quadruple checked before. It is greyed out and says, "Activate USB debugging while plugged in" or something similar.

-Well now it worked again, randomly...again. I unplugged it, and switched it from ethernet internet connection to modem back to ethernet.

Went through the motions of saying it was rooted (but failed to copy multiple needed files, such as suser), and I used rootchecker app and it says no root access.

I just factory reset it; I guess we will see...

Edit: Response: No, it never asked for a password

Ok, I factory reset it (checked version, it is 2.3.6), checked it was in usb debugging, switched it to internet/ethernet, and ran the spectrum rooter. Here is the log:

Root Checker says that this device does not have proper root access still!!! WTF

Hey guys, just thought I would update you on my quest to get data on CM10. I was able to borrow a SIM card for this phone, and it passed the activation (since it was a VZ 4G SIM, it activated with that persons service). Once it got past activation, I put it into NV only mode via CM's mobile network settings. This got me back to the same result of no data but call/text with my number. So, I can officially say that CM is not blocking data due to lack of SIM card. It seems completely unable to work with my data at all. I think something is missing in this ROM to support NV mode, or to support 1X. Either way, I was unable to get data.

HOWEVER

Upon usage of a SIM card, and putting it into NV mode, I was allowed to access the dial pad's *228 feature. It brought up the activation window, but I was asked to press 1 for activation. Of course this is not possible since there is no dial pad. So, I tried *228#, which allowed the call to pass through the activation window and straight to the dial pad. But, this wont work since the activation window is required for the phone to recieve the data it needs from the automatic activation service. In other words, I cant use *228 to activate my phone without a dial pad. I tried a keyboard that allowed a button press to bring it up but the keyboard doesnt seem to work with the phone app, as pressing the 1 button did nothing via keyboard. Any ideas on how to bypass all this? I can re-use that SIM, or a ATT SIM (which was also tried, and had the same result)

@marx

when you plug in your phone, in the status bar, does it say debugging activated? In the status bar

note that app is wierd and even when I have no phone plugged in it sometimes says its successful

You know on a call you can bring up the number pad right?

@whynot: ya, when i drag the status bar down, it has the lil' bug symbol and says debugging on. However, it only displays this when I switch to internet from mass media (default), which I find strange...The program doesn't run unless its in that mode as well.

Edit: In the log for the rooter, many processes fail. See log, but things such as "read only" or "no such file or directory" appear often, and not sure what to do about it. I reinstalled the LG drivers, its in Gingerbread, I'm not sure how to proceed. I do know that I don't want to be stuck on unrooted gingerbread though lol.

Yeah leave it in ethernet mode

restart your computer and phone, plug phone in, put it in ethernet mode, rerun the rooter

Done both multiple times. The rooter DOES reboot the phone, despite the failure to copy the files and and what not. If it helps its is 2.3.6 baseband is VS840V6B-M8660A-AABQNSZM-3.1.6.1035FT Kernel is 2.6.35.11-perf SW version VS840V6B

Arg, thanks anyway! Hopefully someone can help me. I jailbroke my iphone back in the day and loved it, really want cyanogen. I helped my friend root and flash cyanogen on his galaxy. Why is the lucid such a biatch!!!

Try this root, http://androidforums.com/lucid-all-things-root/533930-root-one-click-root-lg-lucid-4-18-12-a.html if it still doesn't work, then at that point I'd try a hard factory reset, there is no guarantee that a hard factory reset will fix the issue but it doesn't hurt to try. It's your best bet though.
A hard factory reset can be done by turning off the Lucid and booting it holding volume down, when it brings up the screen press power twice and it should start the hard factory reset. Then turn on USB Debugging then put it on USB (Internet Mode > Ethernet) and try re-rooting (You already have the drivers installed already which is good). I had this issue once, I THINK a hard factory reset fixed it, I also reinstalled drivers (Which at the time I was trying anything, so don't worry about doing that).

Thats the rooter I am currently using, is there another? I just did a hard factory reset like an hour ago lol. Does this help? Root checker is negative for all superuser stuff (application and binary) but green for busybox binaries and applets

Edit: Is there any drivers I need to throw on the lucid? I only installed drivers on the comp...

Yes you need drivers, only for the computer, if you don't have them:
Can be found here: LG VS840 Support: Find Manuals & Warranty Info | LG USA
Under "Download"
Install them completely, connect the Lucid on USB Debug and Internet Mode Ethernet (Make sure Windows Update it on) and wait for the drivers to install (It's ok if one or two fail) then try rooting.

If you do the root should work fine! Especially after a hard factory reset! Sometimes a hard factory reset helps, but no guarantee.

For all users having sleep-of-death problems, try flashing this kernel over an otherwise working CM10 and seeing if it makes the issue occur less often. No wiping is required, but the standard drill about backups still applies. This fix adds voltage and thus decreases the maximum overclock frequency to 1.404 GHz; do not flash if you are not experiencing sleep of death as battery life is reduced.

Going to flash this right now.

I dunno. Thanks guys for trying. Giving up and about to drink my frustration away (SEVEN hours today, trying to get this to work, and now I just have a factory reset gingerbread lucid to show for it lol). I do have the drivers on my comp, I was hoping I missed some silly step. If nothing shows in the logs, and I already did a factory reset, and I reinstalled drivers, and I redownloaded the rooter, then I do not know what else to do. The only driver on the LG site is for the USB, correct? I really hope I just missed something dumb, but this isn't my first time rooting a device.
