Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

so for some reason i cant send or receive any mms, i don't have wifi on which some people say might effect it. i'm running the latest beta and have no clue what the problem might be,could it be a bad install and if so would i have to format all my data? Any help is appreciated.

I seemed to have lost 3g connectivity at some point earlier today.......this is not necessarily anything to do with cm7, this happened once before just with virgin's service being down temporarily, but is there any way to check or does anyone have any suggestions if it's not vm's fault? I tried rebooting the phone and turning airplane mode on and off, but it didn't help.

Thoughts?

I had this problem before, i had to get a replacement device and everything was fine.

No idea as to why this happened

If you have problems doing a complete wipe (/system /data /cache , etc.) and then reinstalling would be the first thing I do. You shouldn't have issues if coming from a previous build, but I guess it is possible. Did this problem start as soon as you installed the ROM? Or was it a while after, maybe after you made some other changes? Are you using a 3rd party messaging app?

This ROM won't break your MMS, so there has to be an issue elsewhere. Making sure you do a clean install and then troubleshooting what else you could have done that might have caused the issue is the way to go. If you backed up your apps using Titanium backup (or an equivalent) you can reinstall them one at a time and make sure things still work. This takes a while, but you should not have to do it multiple times. Not saying this is the case, but when people try to take shortcuts they can have issues that are avoided if they only did things the correct way.

Good luck figuring it out, and if you try these things and still have issues let us know!

No idea as to why this happened

1. It could be an outage or issue with Virgin Mobile (even a local tower issue and not the whole network).
2. It could be something with your individual devices radio signal (like a hardware issue).
3. It could be a conflict in the software somewhere. This wouldn't be a CM7 issue, but could be cause from an app or something conflicting.

Chances are it is 1 or 2. I would guess 1, but that is just a gut feeling. Do you have anyone else on VM that lives nearby that you can ask if they had similar issues? If it is something that happens regularly, or that hasn't started working again yet, I would look into talking with VM (or if you got a replacement plan elsewhere, with that place) about a replacement.

All of you who are getting such good battery life, are you using the stock PRL or did you change it? I changed mine awhile back thinking it would improve reception. I get pretty bad reception even in places where I think I should get good reception. Even with CM7 and using juice defender I have to charge my phone every night and I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it's constantly trying to find reception and connect to 3G. Just curious

Hiya, has anyone had an issue with Barnacle tether? Its been working till recently but now it drops after a minute of tethering. None of the computers can see the network and those that are connected drop the connection entirely unless I click "Associate" then it works for another minute and drops again.

thanks!

Even if you are warring a solar powered hat plugged directly into the phone all day you can expect you will need to charge the phone every night. As is the case with just about every smart phone. I know 3 other people with this phone running different ROMs at different times and in general we have confirmed that 15 hours is about the phones limit during the day with regular use. I can

I just tested out the latest beta and it's a big improvement from the last time I tried it out (Alpha 6 I believe)! It's stable and almost enough to be a daily driver.

My only issue is it doesn't play nice with 3rd party launchers. Specifically, if I'm using GoLauncher EX, the camera app doesn't load. This happens with Isaac's MIUI port too so it's probably a GoLauncher thing. Works fine though if you use the stock launchers.

I have no problems using GoLauncher and I've been using it ever since I jumped on the Cyanogen Bandwagon a month ago. I also use Go themes and Widgets without any problems and camera app works fine for me.

Hmm, could possibly be because I'm restoring a backup setting from within GoLauncher. It wouldn't load from the App Drawer either so I have no idea then.

Gah, I wish I didn't flash back to Stock before I posted all that, now I can't test it. I'm almost certain now though that it was from restoring the backup setting since you guys have no problems with it.

And it's most definitely a glitch in GoLauncher if it happened in both MIUI and CM7. I don't know why I didn't think of that earlier...

I was just wondering, would turning down the max cpu frequency further improve battery life? If so would it be worth the loss in performance at all?

Ideally, if you use an appropriate governor, it'll scale down the frequency and ramp it up as necessary. In that event, even overclocked, you may see better battery, since it'd take less computational time at a faster speed, and it'd be able to clock back down sooner. I'm uncertain how voltages are scaling, both with stock clock settings, and custom kernels.

So no, there shouldn't be any reason to limit your maximum frequency for battery savings.

I wish there was a way to adjust voltages for each frequency. That way, we'd be able to undervolt and still maintain stability. You'd see battery savings here

The CM7 is really nice, and such a good battery life! :) I have tried MIUI as well, and when using the dialpad names/numbers from the contact list shows up that matches the letters on the dial pad you touch, so that you can easily pick the right phone nb. That is exactly the same function as in WM 5-6.xxx, and I really miss that....

When I first flashed CM7 I did not flash the gapps until after I booted, so the changes did not apply (had the "living" background) and then the dialpad had the same function as the MIUI. When I flashed the gapps before booting that disappeared (the changes applied)... Is there a setting for this to bring that back?

Thanks.

Anybody else having an issue where after downloading an app from the Market or Amazon's store that when you hit the install button it won't install (actually nothing happens when depressing the button/option; the install button doesn't work but the cancel button does)? Can't remember if I had the problem with the Market, but I know it was with the Amazon Appstore.

It has happened to me on two separate days, and the only way to fix it was to reboot the phone.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Maybe today's Amazon Appstore update will fix that...

Long time follower.... First time poster.... Do I understand this correctly to update the prl, meaning changing it manually. It has to be done from the original factory rom? Insight into this would be great. I would like to do it from MIUI or CM7 for MT.

If it only from the factory ROM. If you flash back to MIUI or CM7 will it follow or will it require a fresh build?

You have to do it from stock, you are not able to in CM7 or MIUI. I am not sure, but I believe you can then just restore a nandroid backup of CM7 or MIUI which will use the new prl. You can always try that and do a fresh install if that does not work.
