Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

I am loving my Motorola Triumph with CM7 - 3G works much better, more useful settings (notification power bar!), and a much more responsive system. CM7 is a major upgrade from Froyo and v7 appears fairly stable - I have an auto-boot maybe once every 2 days.

Tickerguy did a great job of pushing the development of CM7 on the MT. Now that he has moved to T-Mobile TG has stated that he will sell his MT and thus end his development efforts.

Does anyone know what is next? Is there anyone in the wings that will pick up where Tickerguy left off on Ver7? Will the MT have an "official" CM7 release that is available in ROM Manager and elsewhere? Is there something I and this interested community can do to motivate the continued development of a stable CM7 release for MT?

Lots of questions, given my lack of programming skills I don't have many answers. (I sure would like to get HDMI access on the MT in CM7.) Thanks.

Anybody else having an issue where after downloading an app from the Market or Amazon's store that when you hit the install button it won't install (actually nothing happens when depressing the button/option; the install button doesn't work but the cancel button does)? Can't remember if I had the problem with the Market, but I know it was with the Amazon Appstore.

It has happened to me on two separate days, and the only way to fix it was to reboot the phone.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Maybe today's Amazon Appstore update will fix that...

Are you using JuiceDefender and having it control screen brightness? If so, there's a bug that prevents 3rd party applications from using the application installer. As a workaround they bundle their own app installer you can use until they fix it.

So is Tickerguy already gone? I was hoping we might get one more update before he departed for T-Mobile.

Either way, farewell TG, you will be missed.

I've encountered this as well. No idea what causes it. Just seems completely random. And it's happened on both stock and CM7 as well. (I think it may have happened with my Optimus V as well, so it really could be anything.)

Anyone else having an issue with the volume control on the notification bar? It stays on loud no matter how many times its clicked. Like 1-2 versions ago it seemed to work fine and Id be able to switch to vibrate while listening to music.

Hey guys, I tried searching through the thread, but couldnt find anything to fix my problem.

I just bought a Triumph as a gift to my girl, and I just finished flashing CM7 11/6 build, but data does no work at all.

I tried redoing it all and doing a factory wipe before installing the zip and same issue.

Any ideas? I tried APN Manager the first time, but that didnt fix anything either.

EDIT: Tried a third time and it's working, weird.

Ever since the update to 2.3.7 some of the settings have changed. Now you have to go to:
Settings
CyanogenMod Settings
Interface
Notification Power Widget
Wideget Buttons, then scroll down to Button Modes
Sound Modes or Brightness Modes ect.(which ever toggles you need to adjust)
and put a checkmark in the desired levels.

having the same issue but mine says 'install in progress" and reboot isnt helping

I wanna give CM7 a shot, what exactly should I format in CWM to make it a clean install?

I have a backup so I'm not to worried about it screwing up.

Also, if I get the respective foldes out of the backup of /data and copy them back to the phone, could I restore my AngryBirds levels and stuff post boot?

Tickerguy, do you mind sharing your thoughts on undervolting with this rom? Can it help/improve battery life and are there any dangers present in doing so as there is with overclocking?

Wel, I flashed it, looks neat, but my home softkey doesn't work at all. Also, the lock screen never shows up, no matter what I set the timeout to it just never displays.

Edit, ever mind, rebooted and not the home button and lock screen work. Looks pretty neat

Guess this isn't really ready for prime time. Oh well, still looked pretty cool from poking around!
Did you swipe all that are required before you flashed?

so I was having issues and did a fresh install instead of just updating all I could say is issues completely resolved and its working a whole lot better if you're having issues I suggest you back up you're apps and just start every thing new. if you still are having issues after then its ether because of an app or your phone. the fresh install even improved my battery life. thanks TG for all you're hard work it will for ever be appreciated.

The CM7 is really nice, and such a good battery life! :) I have tried MIUI as well, and when using the dialpad names/numbers from the contact list shows up that matches the letters on the dial pad you touch, so that you can easily pick the right phone nb. That is exactly the same function as in WM 5-6.xxx, and I really miss that....

When I first flashed CM7 I did not flash the gapps until after I booted, so the changes did not apply (had the "living" background) and then the dialpad had the same function as the MIUI. When I flashed the gapps before booting that disappeared (the changes applied)... Is there a setting for this to bring that back?

Thanks.

Anyone found out how to do this?

Who needs Juicedefender? From 10pm to 5am I only lost 5% of battery. 7 hours... a burn rate of less than 1%?! And before you say "You probably don't have apps that sync" I say "False. I got 10 emails between those times." I have (for me at least) proven that Juicedefender is not needed to get superior battery life. You just need CM7.

Tickerguy. You are the best.

Exactly witch juice defender and what settings do you have like specific

I'm curious to know how you managed to do this. Wifi drains my battery like CRAZY.

Yes wifi does drain it like crazy, note that he did not say he had wifi on. No matter what wifi when its on will burn the battery down bad!

I may attempt to build my own CM7 build. As of right now I'm working on getting my OC/UV bKernel for CM7 working like I want it. ANd I am going to make some changes to the CM7 source(mostly theming and stuff like that, adding tweaks, and maybe some cool mods I find) and will be attempting to build from source.
Please note I don't have the development knowledge that he has(I have no .c programming or java programming backgrounds) so alot of things not fixed will remain unfixed unless someone can help me.

Those numbers do seem highly unlikely but if like me you live in an area with a really bad signal Wi-Fi will burn less battery power than 3g. With Wi-Fi disabled I lose about 10% every half hour. With Wi-Fi enabled and Juice Defender set to turn off both 3g and Wi-Fi when the screen is off and traffic has completed I get about a 10% drop every 2 hours. This is also with Juice Defender set to enable connectivity for 5 minutes every half hour to sync data if I have not turned the screen on within that time frame. Anyhow this is a huge difference in power drain with Juice Defender Ultimate enabled. The only time I see numbers like those is when I am sleeping with connectivity and data set to awake for 5 minutes every 3 hours to sync.

In CWM I did a factory reset, then formatted /system, then flashed CM7 and gaaps.

How do you switch themes? And is there any way to get the white status bar back? Or get a non black status bar with that little drop shadow the stock one has? I'm not sure if it's safe to flash theme updated from other CM7 ROM's or if it's device specific

Use theme changer - its in the App drawer. you can find tons of CM7 themes on the market

Has anyone else noticed that the CPU governor resets every time they reboot? I have it set to smartassv2, but when I reboot the phone it reverts to ondemand.

I wonder if it's because I haven't done a full wipe since the 0.6 alpha... I suppose I'll find out, I was planning to wipe before installing B0.7 anyway.

You checked the box for "Set on boot"?
Mine stays on smartass2, I went from 0.6 to 0.7 without a wipe.
I did format system data though, that is explained in the installation instructions.

I used to use Juicedefender but it still burned too much battery for my liking. I typically average -100 to -110 dBm at my house and -115 or less where I work, so I'm gonna guess that's why it uses so much battery. I've just resorted to manually adjusting my connectivity. Doing this I dropped 3% over about a 5 1/2 period, which is awesome. Leaving wifi on with Yahoo mail notifications and occasionally checking stuff I'll get 12-13 hours.

Ideally manual connectivity and not having an app running in the background would be the best way to save power but I am definitely too absent minded as anytime I go that route I end up doing something stupid like come in from a work break and forget to enable Wi-Fi when I return resulting in the 10% loss every half hour I have forgot, one of the reasons I love the wifi by location option. So anyhow it works out ok as I would rather see the little drain from running the app than having a large drain by forgetting to turn something on or off.

Thanks for the reply! I don't think that was it though. While I have JuiceDefender I have stopped using it for a few days. It seems JD is turning everything off (wifi & data). Maybe that is bec. I have JD Ultimate enabled.

All the best!
