Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

Slight issue here... when I press the power button to wake the phone up, there seems to be a delay from when the lockscreen actually comes up.

Is anyone else seeing this issue?

Yeah but I think is trying to laid the wifi and other programs to make the phone work. The beta release will probably fix that. Cm7 team will be working on it. We had a small group work on alpha. Now we will have a large team of developers working on beta. Yeauh

Ah, thanks for the info.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I had installed that was causing the delay.

Where did you get those conclusions from?

Yeah, I wasn't aware that this was becoming an official CM7 supported device. I believe the development will still be handled by the same people and anyone else who wants to (and can) help.

If I am wrong, please correct me.

I'm aware of the cam problem and am chasing it. It WAS working on my phone and I apparently broke it - trying to figure out exactly why. Also, touch focus can be left on with the front cam which is a definitely no-no as it will blow up the camera if you try to use it. That will be fixed in the next release.

To my knowledge there is no official pickup of this device by CM7.

I get this issue after my phone's been on for a day or so. A reboot usually fixes it for me. Some sort of memory leak I think.

When I try to replace the bootanimation.zip in the /media folder, I am told there is not enough room, anyone know how to replace this?

my phone told me that on stock rom before... to fix it pull the battery and press the power button a couple of times to completely discharge the phone. then put battery back in and reboot. it should work after that :D (it really ticked me off when my phone said that)

Tickerguy I'm typing this on my touchpad running cm7 and your cm7 on triumph runs better!!
that's because the touchpad is in current Alpha releases, and from what i can find is still on the initial first build... according to phandroid which can be found here

CyanogenMod 7 Alpha Reaches the HP TouchPad

and ticker's releases are going into post-Alpha/Beta releases now.

it even says in that article that the touchpad CM7 Alpha release has little to no functionality except to devs right now....

They are saying that as a disclaimer. I have flashed the just released CM7 Alpha to three TouchPads and it VERY functional. A few force closes but if I had released it I would have called it a Beta and not an Alpha.

is there anyway to get the phone to wake up faster with wifi on? the slowness of the wakup is keeping this from being a daily for me... :(

thanks for the update tickerguy, you're doing an awesome job.

I just have one question does the wifi still have the shutdown on lock cause I love the rom but the only reason I switched back was because the wifi cant stay on,then I have to wait till it connects.

I'm in no way complaining, just wanted to ask before I format everything.

Yes, it does. I doubt that will be going away for a while (if he can ever find a way to do so without causing lockups).

Im going to throw out a wild guess(and yes i dont know how to program like tickerguy and issac but i try to figure things out in a reasonable hypothesis. I work on computers and try to figure problems out for people. Everyone here in WV call me the tech guru. I do not try to make myself better than others I just console with their needs. They rather go to me than to someone who would charge them an outrageous price.) and assume that with the phone still being worked on that certain programs that startup and run like 3g and wifi(which starts up when woken up) that causes other programs that run in the background to run in the foreground kinda like a laptop ever notice how you make your computer screen turn off when you close it and turns on when you open it. Think of your phone as a computer. And I am not trying to cause any trouble, I'm just throwing out ideas to figure out a solution to any problem so that it can be resolved.

I was referring to this:

It wasn't in reference to your thoughts on the screen waking up slowly sometimes. I guess I didn't clarify that. Also I have had the issue of it waking slowly with both 3g and wifi off (and not automatically starting when I wake the screen). It happens very rarely, and usually when it has been on for a few days.

As I noted previously there appears to be a memory leak somewhere in the CM7 code. It's not application-specific (I can kill them all and it doesn't go away) which implies it's in the Dalvik interpreter or perhaps somewhere in one of the system's internal libraries. If I knew exactly where in the code it was (or even in what function) I could probably track it down, but I have not isolated it as of yet.

Wherever it is, it's a pain in the ass as when the phone gets low of RAM it starts killing things and sleeping them so as to not run out of memory. This in turn causes performance problems such as slow wake-ups, slow rotation recognition and may be responsible for the "flash" on the proximity sensor as well. And since it's not an app you can kill that's doing it, the only fix (until I find the leak, assuming I do) is to reboot once a day or so.

sorry, the way i see it is that we have this build have most of the bugs worked out and it will be handed to the cm7 team so that they can work on it we had a small team working on the alpha because the phone just got released 4 months ago and has made an amazing progress. when it comes to the cm7's hands they will fix up and continue to play with it until it is stable. im just coming up with a theory since its the most resonable idea unless tickerguy and issac comes up with the full details. again i apoligize for causing any trouble i like to be open minded.:(
yeah i kinda forgot about the leak of the memory.

Yeah, I don't like that I have to wait as well, I wish there was a fix for this.

BTW, if you were annoyed with the backlight behavior on the soft keypad, you won't be on the next update. I have dug into the kernel and discovered that there really is a PWM controller on those LEDs. A bit of code re-writing now has the phone able to control the illumination level on the soft keypad, which means that under low light conditions it now glows softly (therefore I can have them on "soft" at night without being stupid annoying when the phone is being used as a clock on the nightstand), ramps up to mid-level ambient brightness with the screen, and then are off under daylight-similar conditions (no point in spending the power under bright ambient conditions as there is natural contrast in the button silkscreen)

Finally, as before, if you don't like my defaults under the CM7 config screens you can change them too....

Incidentally I can do this for the notification LEDs too but there's no infrastructure support for automatic control of notification LEDs tied to ambient light levels under CM7. Boo hiss - that would have been nice.

Is the problem with 3G not working after the phone sleeps for awhile going to be addressed ever? I have to disable data and re-enable it every time for it to work again. I know tickerguy said that to radio code should work, but there is definitely a difference in stock compared to CM7. Stock I can always use data right after the phone is woke up. Thanks tickerguy for all the hard work!
