BTW, if you were annoyed with the backlight behavior on the soft keypad, you won't be on the next update. I have dug into the kernel and discovered that there really is a PWM controller on those LEDs. A bit of code re-writing now has the phone able to control the illumination level on the soft keypad, which means that under low light conditions it now glows softly (therefore I can have them on "soft" at night without being stupid annoying when the phone is being used as a clock on the nightstand), ramps up to mid-level ambient brightness with the screen, and then are off under daylight-similar conditions (no point in spending the power under bright ambient conditions as there is natural contrast in the button silkscreen)
Finally, as before, if you don't like my defaults under the CM7 config screens you can change them too....
Incidentally I can do this for the notification LEDs too but there's no infrastructure support for automatic control of notification LEDs tied to ambient light levels under CM7. Boo hiss - that would have been nice.
