Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

Tg: I am not all THAT surprised if there are problems transitioning from one cam to another during a video call; that is almost-assuredly NOT the ROM (and is in the application.) The cams are radically different in their resolution and it wouldn't shock me if the application doesn't expect you to do that (e.g. it doesn't have enough buffer space to handle the transition)

The flipped landscape mode on the front cam has been fixed and will be in the first beta build.

Tickerguy.. thanks alot for all the help dude.. you are the man.. I'm VERY happy with this phone.. heck I think everyone is for what it cost and what we pay per month. :D

Since things are getting a bit stable, will the 3g airplane mode fix in code you mentioned you may do at a later point be on that list? That's probably the only real thing that bugs me about this phone..

You've made this phone downright awesome compared to stock.. even my wife is complaining to me that her stock build sucks and she wants me to flash her phone :D

There does seem to be a minor audio glitch that I never noticed on stock. When I plug my phone into my car (uses headphone jack) and play Pandora, I've noticed that on CM7 it is very quiet and then (randomly, as far as I can tell) all of the sudden it goes back to normal, which equates to a huge boost in volume. From that point on it works fine.

As far as the actual volume levels, they stay at the same level. It is juts that the actual output starts off very low.

Anyone else noticing this issue?

WARNING to all: Do not zoom with the front camera. I attempted to and it crashed the camera. Now when I try to open the camera appit says that it cannot connect to the camera. If you do this then you will need a reboot to get the camera working again.

I did with stock but not with cm7. I do use the DSP Manager included in the rom to manage my audio tho

has anyone else experienced the ear piece speaker being really soft then really loud and crackly when in a call .....i dont know if the speaker is just blow somehow or if there is like a hardware problem maybe sending the wrong voltage to the speaker. this is very annoying seeing how i cant understand anyone when they call making the calling feature pretty much useless....(this was also happening on stock so im not blaming it on TG's build.. Which is awesome by the way)

Great job, Tickerguy!

Has anyone managed to come up with a decent, optimized stock gingerbread launcher without the awful homescreen scrolling lag? Other than the laggy launcher and absence of haptic feedback on the soft keys, this build rocks! Thanks again!

Just out of curiosity, what's the issue regarding haptic feedback?

the launcher has never been laggy... and the launcher has nothing to do with haptic feedback. but simply yes, no laggy launcher. :D

Agreed. If the launcher is laggy, check to see what governor you are using. On conservative, mine is laggy. Ondemand and smartassv2 work beautifully. Plus, conservative not only makes it laggy, but I've found that it actually reduced battery life in my opinion. Although it slowly ramps up CPU speed, it takes longer to perform tasks. Ondemand with SetCPU set to idle when screen off at 122/245 is great... sorry, I got off topic.

Simply put, launcher has not been laggy in my experience with the default CPU governor. :D

Thanks for the insight! How exactly do you change the governor again? Cyanogenmod settings/performance, right? I changed it to "smartassv2," yet my stock launcher still lags quite a bit

Yes, that is correct. The default is ondemand. I liked smartassv2, but I just prefer ondemand now after testing all of them out over a days time. There's nothing particularly bad with smartassv2 in my opinion.

I'm not sure why it is lagging. One thing that may help is rebooting into recovery.. wipe the cache, also go into advanced and wipe the dalvik cache. After doing that.. If you have the update zip still on your sd card.. format the /system and flash the ROM again (as well as the Google apps zip if you so desire and I assume you do).. wiping the dalvik cache has never hurt and has often helped. I do it with every update and no problems here :)

Oh! yes sorry seems my mic on laptop was set to mute.

Thanks for all your awesome work!

Btw is it just me or does the incoming audio in a voice call in google talk come out via the speaker phone only and not through the phone earpiece like in a normal phone call.
I can understand this behavior for a video call as one would be holding the phone in one's hands. But in a voice only call it should be routed though the earpiece by default. Don't know if this is intended behavior or bug in our rom or in CM7 rom..

Can someone tell how it works on other phones where google talk came with audio and video chat officially?

EDIT:- It seems that it is actually Google's intended behavior though they might be changing it in the future..

Tried all of this to no avail D: Scrolling is still really choppy. I'm on smartassv2, cleared cache, dalvik cache, reloaded the rom, etc. :(

The phone is fine there is no lagging. The phone is fast so it will not lag.

Sounds like a rogue app possibly. It's not ROM related.

Very weird. So you guys are getting butter-smooth scrolling through homescreens on the stock gingerbread launcher that's included with the build? The only way I can get smooth scrolling is with launcherpro, but if I use it for one more day, I'm going to fricking flip.

Mine is fine, I would recommend to reinstall the rom.

I second the motion of "reinstall." I have never ran into a single problem regarding "laggyness" probably because every time there is an update, I start fresh. Hopefully a fresh install should clear things up. If not... I don't know what to say.

@tickerguy Is there any way you can enable the option to adjust the clock speeds in CM settings? I know you won't do an overclock kernel, but I kinda would like to be able to set my clock speeds (the min is set to 245, I like 122 to be the min) right on the phone, rather than have a app do it for me.

And on another note... is there any way to give you some "spare change"? I feel as if I must give you something to show my gratitude for giving us CM7.

The init scripts set the minimum CPU speed to 245k. I will look at this, but I'm concerned about changing it, as I've played with this in some other settings and have run into trouble below that speed with the phone either not waking or failing to answer hails from the network quickly enough (which results in a call going to voicemail instead of ringing!)

Someone mentioned an issue with the soft key lights? There isn't one - the behavior you're seeing is intentional - off when totally dark (or nearly so), on for low light, off for high light conditions. That's how I have it set - if you don't like it go modify it in the CM7 settings screen - I want the backlight on the keypad OFF in complete darkness; you may differ, but I use the phone as an alarm clock at night.

Haptic not being present on the keypad is something internal to CM7 and I haven't found it yet.

The front cam should not support zoom AT ALL. That it does is probably a config error - it's not supposed to as it has no zoom function (or focus function; it's a fixed-focus VGA resolution camera) in the hardware. The "digital zoom" (such as it is, when it works) is nothing more than blowing up pixel size and trashes quality, and thus shouldn't be enabled. I'm not surprised it blows up if you attempt it as I certainly didn't intend for it to work. I'll look at this as I'm doing a few other things with the front cam still; it's likely an error in the definitions for the front cam and should be turned off.

The default Launcher2 (GB stock launcher) was modified by me. Technically, it *should* be very quick. I removed all elasticity from the launcher so that it would snap to the next screen. Other than that (and adding one other feature), I didn't touch anything related to launcher performance.
