This is awesome! Now that we have verified that the module works, can we have it compiled into the kernel like standard cm7 supported devices?

In the mean time I can use the modprobe auto load trick identified above by PsyberS.

Thanks for the link. However, I installed it and after that i found that it does not send audio/video data. Nor does it advertise audio/video chat capabilities ie my friends cant see that i can do audio/video chat.

What does work is that if i video call a friend, i can see his video but he cant see mine. However, my own video does show up fine in the preview window on my phone but is not being sent it seems.

So it's close but not quite there yet.

Please if some dev can fix it up that would be great.

I am also having the 3G disconnects everyone is talking about. I select/deselect airplane mode and it works again. Happened twice today within a few hours. I still love it though!
 
Tg: I loaded the new Gapps and this and it shows the video icon on my status. I have nobody I can video call though and the PC client appears not to support video, so I have no way to test.

It LOOKS LIKE it works on this end but I have no way to test.

I didn't realize that people want tunneling in the kernel (as opposed to a module); it's quite small and as such adds little memory overhead; I will compile it in for the next release.

I remember reading you changed something in the build.prop to get around the lockups - though I'm sure you'll eventually knock that problem down as well, lol. Great work so far, dude!

Agreed! Great work!! Also, I've only had ONE disconnect from 3G since the previous update so everything's working good. Nothing a quick airplane mode toggle can't fix. Not to mention, I've also had 3G connectivity issues with the stock ROM before.

As did I. Note that Airplane Mode is unnecessary, though - just create a power control widget and toggle data off/on.

You need to do a 'modprobe tun' (as root) before connecting. Probably you can set up the kernel to autoload that module if you plan to use this feature often.

thank you for the new update i am now able to recieve my emails when it is sent to me. 3g hasn't dropped yet. wifi comes on straight away. i have to say i am very glad that you have made this phone work beyond our expectations. the stock always sucked. again i thank you.:)
 
Updated my phone to 10/12...camera is fine, but video is blurry. Anyone having the same issue? I had the same issue before this update...

BTW, I found out the easiest way to backup and restore your apps / data after an update is by using Titanium Backup...after the update of CM7, just download Titanium Backup and do a batch restore then restart your phone. All your apps / data will reappear in the same folder / location. Of course, you need to backup with Titanium app first...I am pretty sure there are other ways. Just wanted to share...

Gapps don't work with 10/12, should I flash the gapps zip?

I'll be more specific. The apps are there, but they wont open. Market opens and asks to input an account, but when I push yes, it just closes. Not force close, just close.

Yes. The latest gapps package will need to be flashed.
 
I'm wiping data, system and cache as I type, but FFC is still being weird. Preview is fine in portrait, but still upside down in landscape. And it FC's the camera app if you try to take a picture.

The wipe won't fix the FC on ffc when attempting to take a photo, at least not for me. Reboot seems to release it . I haven't tried a different camera app yet.
 
I love the 720P video recording! But now my FFC shows photos upside down when the phone is on its side. But it works in portrait mode.

The tun.ko module is what gives you tunneling support. Tunneling is used by VPN software (specifically, for me at least, OpenVPN) so that all of your internet traffic is encrypted, sent to a specific VPN server where it is then decrypted and sent out over the internet.

The VPN server acts as a proxy for your phone, with all data between your phone and it being encrypted. It also allows your phone to act like it is part of your work/home LAN and access internally visible LAN ips.

For me, this is especially useful in places where I am using unsecured wifi and dont trust people sniffing the packets. If you aren't sure what I am referring to, google 'firesheep' and you will see. ;)
 
Is the wifi behaving any better in the 10/12? I am at work with the 10/10 build, and everyone can connect to the wifi except me. Sits at obtaining IP for ever then disconnects. Stock rom is fine.

It works better for me on mine I had problem with wifi like you have. But yeah newest build is better on wifi and 3g.
