Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

so loving the new build just noticed a couple of things when fiddlin around with it. only the camera mainly. life is correct, but when a picture is taken it comes out right side up, the big thing i'm noticing is that the zoom in FFC mode doesn't work in between 1-2x (the camera stalls out. it doesn't force cloe, literally just stops focusing at whatever it is focusing on when you switched the zoom to whatever level in between 1 and 2 you choose), but then works flawlessly from 2-4x..... weird. but you do amazing work and keep it up because this is awesome!!!! thanks ticker!!!

My FFC force closes when attempting to take a picture. If yours is able to capture a photo with the front facing camera then I must be doing something wrong?

by "last alpha release" does he mean no more releases at all? or the rest will be like any other cm7 release? (like nightlies)

I believe he means this is the last 'alpha' release, meaning it is stable enough to be called a beta (or possibly a full) release from here on.

Edit: looks like I was a bit slow responding, so I'll just add that generally software releases follow this type of cycle:

alpha -> beta -> 'full' numbered release

Next release will be a beta; the front camera rotation problem will be fixed. So far that's the only "big" gotcha that I've found with this load.

There are other things to be worked of course but what's there right now is pretty stable; I've been using it extensively of course. If you find bugs log them in Github if you want them tracked! I will and do read here but no promises on catching everything posted here.

Tg: I loaded the new Gapps and this and it shows the video icon on my status. I have nobody I can video call though and the PC client appears not to support video, so I have no way to test.

It LOOKS LIKE it works on this end but I have no way to test.

I didn't realize that people want tunneling in the kernel (as opposed to a module); it's quite small and as such adds little memory overhead; I will compile it in for the next release.

Hey, tickerguy add echo@bot.talk.google.com to your friends list on google talk and now when you video call to it it should echo your video and audio.

You can use this to test. let me flash the 0.8 build and tell you if gtalk does work or not. Thanks.

Cyanogen apparently cannot make a build "official" if GAPPS is in there (legal reasons) and in addition there are occasionally updates to GAPPS. I was one rev back, which is not too cool as well. Never mind that you only need to load it once (I believed it would get wiped with each update, but it doesn't - unless you format the /system area) so this way you can load the most-current.

Conflicts between library versions suck and they cause trouble; this avoids it.

It works on the build I have loaded now, which fixes some of the cam rotation issues. I was able to see myself using that and everything is ok.

Hey, tickerguy, just tried the 0.8 build and yes the cam works and a bunch of stuff works now. Thanks a ton.

Still a few things are not working like:-
Audio is apparently being transferred but not being received ie the other party can hear me but i cant hear them on my phone and also the mute mic option at top left of screen during the call apparently doesnt work ie my audio keeps getting sent.

Also when i select the option in the top left menu during a call to switch to the back camera it nearly always force closes. (though this feature worked once without crashing surprisingly)
But still thanks for your work the cam sending and receiving works well except for the known flipped image in landscape.

All of these seem to be reproducible nearly always, but if you need I can post logs.

Thanks.

oh i thought beta was before alpha! :o (you can tell i dont build from source and post stuff like this :D)

alpha is before beta is before charlie is before delta...and so forth.
cant wait for beta and the capability to download and install through rom manager if it is possible.:D

I'm a bit too cautious when it comes to flashing ROMs. I've been watching the progress on this and I'm amazed at how quickly all the bugs are being worked out.

I'm almost ready to give it a shot but I had one question.

Does this fix the media volume problem that's in the stock ROM? Where if you receive a notification while listening to music, the volume drops way down, even though the media volume is still at the same level?

Thanks a lot for all the hard work, can't wait to try it out!

Tg: I am not all THAT surprised if there are problems transitioning from one cam to another during a video call; that is almost-assuredly NOT the ROM (and is in the application.) The cams are radically different in their resolution and it wouldn't shock me if the application doesn't expect you to do that (e.g. it doesn't have enough buffer space to handle the transition)

The flipped landscape mode on the front cam has been fixed and will be in the first beta build.

Ah I see and could you do something to make it so that i can hear the other party ie receiving sound during audio or video calls.

Thanks.

You can modify it in the settings.

Is the key lights problem fixed in this version? I know that in the previous ones you said to go to settings display and toogle that.
