Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

I had the funniest bug today. I had my whole screen suddenly turn white, Though I could still see what was below it. I was like "Oh?" It just took the screen to be locked and unlocked again and it went away. Anyone else have this? I'm on 10/16. Think I need to put on 10/22. I'm just being incredibly lazy. >_> (Not so much, I have to work 86 hours without a day off due to my boss being on vacation)....

Unfortunately I get that 'bug' all the time. As in probably once a day. As you said though, simply toggling the screen off/back on fixes it so I just live with it. I assume it is a hardware issue and probably should have returned the phone. :p

Anyway else having the WIFI issue?

It's not an issue, it's a fix. The alternative is you have to pull your battery and reboot if you leave wifi on with the screen off.

Search this thread, you'll find it in probably a hundred or more posts. :D

As for the part where it doesn't reconnect, that may be something else, but ticker had to change the setting to timeout wifi with the screen to stop the lockups that required a battery pull.

Read/search the thread. Half of this thread is people asking about the WiFi and the answer is in the 4th post that tickerguy made-

"Wifi lockup fix always sleeps Wifi when the unit sleeps, whether you choose that or not in the Wifi advanced options screen. This appears to be a driver issue and may not be fixable; I continue to investigate options here."

Being that I rely on Wifi a lot due to poor indoor reception, this issue pretty much kills the rom for me. :(

Yeah I'm pretty sure you are right about it being a hardware thing. My phone has done that every once in a while on every ROM including stock. I have the best buy protection plan, So I think once Tickerguy has everything all sorted out, I'll get it replaced. New phone AND Rom!

WiFi is far from reliable on the stock Froyo the phone came with anyways. That's one of the things that continually annoys me about this phone. If VM didn't have decent speeds where I live I'd have returned the phone long ago. Still may end up changing carriers all together depending on how this rom turns out in the end.

Is there any other place where I can snatch the 10/22 update? Been trying since yesterday a.m. and just can't download from mediafire for some reason.

Sometimes the stock browser doesn't want to download mediafire files for me either. I just use dolphin browser to download when that happens.

I never had any problems with wifi on froyo. GrooveIP worked flawlessly.

Tg: There is very little reason for me to put a large amount of effort into that; I do, however, review the commits related to the phone and pull those that matter. For instance, the USB tethering fix actually came out of CM7's commit chain.

Right now there is a serious problem with pulling and building a "base" copy from my manifest list. I don't know exactly why right now and am looking into it, but this poses extreme danger should I pull a full resync against the upstream, as it could leave me with an unholy mess that could take a very long time to sort out. I'll do it eventually, but everyone pestering me just because they want a silly revision number change is rather foolish - and that's being polite.

people... LEAVE HIM ALONE! :p but seriously, give him a break on all the dumb requests. if you think about it, your not the one building cm7. Tickerguy is, and he knows what he is gonna fix in the next build. so when he wants to release a "new version" he will, but for now you all will just have to wait like the rest of us....

First of all I apologize if I've been asking questions inappropriate for this thread. I have tried to read as much as i can from this thread the past month but unfortnately this is the complete sum total of my knowledge of Android, so it's hard for me to know what is related to CM7 and what is just common noob stuff.
I think the below Information may be pertinent to the discussion though...

After Installing CPU Master Free and setting the governor to SmartassV2 and Minimum frequency to 122, I have been recording my battery level from a full charge this morning every hour on the hour and this is what I got starting from the first hour unplugged: 92%-89%-82%-65%-56%-50%-48%-36%.
So it varies greatly with usage. When the phone is just sitting in my pocket it can use as little as 2% battery, but when i'm playing with settings and downloading apps it got as high as 17% in just one hour. battery life overall seems a little better but not as good as many of the reports I've read here so far. Maybe Juice Saver would help?
Also, the spontaneous reboot thing is worse than i thought. It reboots often and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. I installed Watchdog Lite to see if there was a screwy app but there are no alerts and everything using the cpu seems to be doing so within acceptable limits. I'm pretty sure I wiped and flashed everything correctly as I mentioned earlier, so I'm really scratching my head on this one. Should I just start from scratch and do another wipe and flash or maybe there was something I restored with Titanium that's screwing it up? Any ideas?

To those who may be interested, here is how my battery statistics went yesterday: 98%-95%-91%-81%-79%-75%-67%-60%. This was on the10/16 build after fixing permissions in clockwork and I also uninstalled CPU Master and left the minimum frequency at 245 as per Tickerguy's advice. I unplugged it at 9:00am monitoring the first 8 hours and when I went to bed around midnight it still had a 30% charge left and died sometime in the wee hours of the morning while I slept. As you can see, when it was just sitting in my pocket it only sucked up 2 or 3% but with use it drained considerably faster. I mainly used it on 3g looking things up and occasionally checking my FB page, nothing too crazy or demanding. Overall though battery performance seems greatly improved! My most demanding hour only used 10% as compared to 17% yesterday! Fixing the permissions seems to have solved the random reboot issue. I only had two reboots instead of dozens.

Tickerguy, when you speak of the 4% Rom burn per hour are you talking about when it is sitting idle or with normal use as well? Oh yeah, my qaudrant scores yesterday were in the 2600 range! (I don't have many apps and don't run any BS widgets) Great work Man!

I haven't been having issues with Stock Rom and Umph kernel

Mostly idle other than push email coming in occasionally. If the screen is on it burns battery as the LED backlight is what it is, and it's a pig. (If you think the LEDs are bad the AMOLED screens on things like the Vibrant are hideous when there's a lot of high-brightness areas on the screen - like the white background on the browser!)

Then I'm doing very well indeed!

10/22 build is wonderful. thanks tickerguy!

Also does anyone know how to change the number of homescreens? Right now there's 5 and I'd like 3. I used to have CM7 and it had ADW preloaded? From the home screen you'd just tap menu and then click edit, but that doesn't appear to be an option this time.
Thanks.

Stock launcher doesn't have that option, you'll have to use a 3rd party launcher.

Download adw launcher from market. That's what I did.

It depends on which launcher you are using. If it is the stock launcher (which is default for this CM7 build), you can't change the number of screens. I, personally, use Launcher Pro. You can change the number of screens and it is pretty responsive. You can also use ADW and change the number of screens. I would try one of the third-party launchers :)

Since I started using tickerguy's CM7 build I have also noticed that the personalized ringtones I have set for certain contacts sometimes work and sometimes don't. Has anyone else noticed this?

This is an upstream (problem from CM7) issue that's been around for awhile. It's not specific to our port of CM7.

Reboot issue:
First I don't have a usb cable anymore(kids)
but i can reproduce a reboot 100% of the time
i use tTorrent to download files quite often
when I'm downloading large files, my phone reboots after 20 to 40 minutes(sometimes less)
it does it every time
if someone can load tTorrent to their phone and try to download a large (750+mb) file
maybe you can log it and find out why it is rebooting
My guess is still a memory leak,
but it might give some input on the random reboots since it is at least on my phone
100% of the time
that was on 3g as well, no wifi used
I did however try it with wifi and got the exact same results

Thank you TG for everything this rom rocks
