Root (ROM) CM7.2 Admire port Boraichee

Boraichee, first thanks for working on this. I just wanted to let you know I've got two admires that don't have service so if you want anyone to test drive your rom that doesn't need data or calls I can help. I can't really do any dev stuff but I can let you know of any issues I run into.
 
For some of you that that think that ROMs Beast and Monster are great... you are mistakened... I have been putting ROMs on my Samsung Prevail, which is basically the same hardware as the Admire and what the devs have been kicking out lately for these Prevails is absolutely incredible... at the moment they are actually working on CM9 (there's already an alpha2 release) and MIUI rom in the works which already has an alpha release... so just have patience and the devs will be giving you some ROMs that will blow these Beasts and Monsters out the water... but we have to start somewhere... our first ROM for the Prevail was the Shabbymod and from there we got CTMod and then CM7 and then all these got improved...etc.. and it hasn't even been a year since this phone was released to stores... so just hang in there.. you will be getting the best bang for your buck in no time! :D

Patience is a virtue.

Stop hounding these devs and just sit back and enjoy what you have and don't forget to buy them a beer... or coffee for all their spare time in these projects for your phone...

How does having something better not make what already exists great?
7 is far better than XP, that doesn't mean XP wasn't good.
 
We work really hard to get what we have to you guys. These aren't over night projects that we throw together. It was many of nights I didn't sleep trying to get this rom to work. Mystery made the way and I added to it a bit. We know it's more customizable and stable roms out there. We just wanted to make pave they so we can get the cm7's and miui's. And like the moderator said. Attack the issues, not the user's /devs etc. Thank you
 
In no way did I mean that those ROMs are not better than the stock ROM... what I meant is that they are the foundation to building something way far better for these devices. I appreciate all the hard work done by the devs.. Just was giving people a heads up that.. you ain't seen nothing, yet! :p

Using a port from the Prevail would be sloppy. A ROM build form source is way to go IMO. Them being Official doesn't make a difference either. Plenty have created their own system for things such as nighties.

Here's hoping this goes through, so I can get a chance to put MIUI on this thing.

So many hoops to jump through, and I'm only aware of two people who've even got CM to boot (being Unforgiven and Bo).

I *had* a stock kernel/boot.img booting, but when I rebuilt my Ubuntu kernel for my i7, I apparently broke the boot.img.

Mehhhhhhhhhhh. Been working on this for too many hours straight, and now I have to get ready for work.

I repeat, mehhhhhhhhh.
 
ive managed to get data and service working....no wifi....foreclose on bluetooth and a few others and its having issues with a few other details that im working on....but hey....ive got a strong partial working port for it.. :)

I've been building from source.

And ****ing Shabbypenguin is a ****ing baws (read: BOSS), and if I have a CM beta released at some point today or tomorrow (being that I just called in to work because this and a case of beer is going to be far more fun), it'll be because he pointed out something I totally missed, which I shouldn't have.

ive actually managed to flash kernels from the optimus m onto the admire and cross compiled a ****load of different roms...including a few i made...into one. I will probably wind up pulling some things out and rebuilding it to release my own version that wont be considered a CM7 rom so you can keep building that bad boy from source so we can have a true CM7......and uh....what kind of beer is it? i need one too :)
 
I've been soooo waiting for this. I stayed on a stock rooted rom to wait for this. I've been wanting to change but cm is the only rom I will change for. I love that with it I can change almost everything on my phone. Do work devs do work
 
Aaahhhh....i prefer a good sam adams cream stout..im thinking the beach sounds nice....daytona isnt too far of a drive.......my eyes are crossing from the computer

ext4 kernel built courtesy of Unforgiven512's kernel source, and CM7.2RC1 brunched up thanks to Unforgiven512's device and vendor profiles.

Just need to get CWM capable of formatting ext4 filesystems so we can install the CM7.2RC1 zip. And we're good. But totally going to see a Metal show first. Sorry. I'll continue about 1AM-3AM EST.
