Root [ROM] CM7 TG-Reloaded (Final: 03-25)

So would people difinitly suggest this over the original cm7? I'm on cm9 now, but the signal issues are killing me and I have to switch.

i believe yes, i havent check the original cm7 change logs in full detail but im pretty sure TG dropped the cm7 project and whyzor picked it up where he left off

if i remember correctly TG final CM7 still has issues if wifi and bt are on at the same time and a few small issues

whyzors TG-CM7-Reloaded has alot of those things fixed and tweaked to run smoother

You'd deff. wanna go and check out the change logs first, first compare CM7 to CM7-Reloaded, then u can throw Cm9 and compare as well, but lasttime i checked the cm9, had problems with hdmi(always tends to not work anyway), camera, usb tether, netflix, data/signal drops(what ur saying ur issue is), and some apps and system settings all are still "under development stages" if u will lol

So my personal opinion, and the probly the same from most here, for a day to day type phone you dont wanna be running an Alpha rom, a stable rom like cm7, cm7 reloaded, miui, or even a froyo stable rom like b_randon makes would work better for ya

Ps. Question for me, im kinda new to the flashing scene and whatnot, i see in the change logs that theres support for a bunch of different kernels and i believe the last listed is TheOC kernel, does this rom have a kernel within it, or if i just flashed this rom is it still running the stock kernel?? Curious to if i should change the kernel, or if this cm7-reloaded did it for me

The kernel that this ROM is running is based off of mantera's TheOC kernel. It split when Whyzor made the thread, but mantera kept up with this kernel (the kernel is the linux part that does the low level stuff like control power and memory management, Android sits on top of that as a virtual machine) and has adopted some his changes.

Look at this and it can explain it better

Thx, I actually went back to page one and realized I completely missed the part where it says Default kernel based off of Theoc kernel lol I feel dumb but again thx for the info

Here is how you can delete your primary gmail account in cm7 without doing a factory reset. I know some of the bright people who post here know this already but i just found this out and it may help someone some time by reading this post

Ok so open up terminal emulator and now type:

su (↵)
mount -o rw,remount /system (↵)
rm /data/system/accounts.db (↵)

Now reboot your phone and once it loads up...go to the market/ play store and now you will be prompted to enter a new gmail account for your phone. Please be aware that doing this will not only delete the primary gmail account but also your contacts that are on your phone as well.

My screen turns on randomly, something I haven't noticed with the previous versions. Any suggestions?

Some apps can do that. Handcent is one of them, when you receive a text, it's an option. Is there anything on the screen to suggest what may be calling that. Also, CM7 has an option to turn on with other buttons, like the volume rocker. That would be under CM7 settings somewhere.

Does bt drop wifi for anyone else? In the past, I've only ever used my bt headsets while driving, so didn't need wifi. Now I'm trying to place calls in my room with bt over wifi (be it talkatone or gtalk or skype). Enabling bt kills wifi and I lose the call.

Anybody figure out how to get the screen to turn back on when you pull the phone away from your face in a call? Was using froyocream for a while and loved that the screen turned back on but I just can't stay away from cm 7. Whyzor tried to address it before he left but it didn't stick

Yes there does appear to be an issue with running BT and wifi together. I was experimenting with streaming music from my phone to my laptop over BT and it had to keep buffering cause the wifi throughput was low. If I disabled the BT the phone would stream normally through its speakers. I don't know if this is the phone's dismal hardware to blame or just a bug in the ROM.

I haven't used BT that extensively but my headset and OBDII scanner work whilst using WiFi.

My screen off/on at/away from ear works perfectly.

Could you do me a favor? Set your screen lock to some time that would be longer than your normal call, then see what happens. I am pretty sure that the lock screen kicks in and thus locks the screen to off.

Thanks boss I appreciate the advice I tried all of that. A few pages back there is a discussion on this particular issue. I found based on the posts, it was about half and half; some were working fine and others had the same problem but their screen did work for froyo roms

I upgraded from Tickerguy's final CM7 to the final version of this ROM using the instructions at the bottom of the first post:

"If upgrading from a previous CM7, need to wipe cache & advanced -> dalvik-cache in recovery mode (it keeps user data). Also wipe BOTH caches if you experience problems. Android Market/Play is not included for legal reasons, you MUST flash gapps.zip RIGHT AFTER flashing this ROM zip for the first time before rebooting, gtalk.zip (Google Talk) is optional. After booting into the ROM, you may remove some of the bloatware, see this thread."

Everything was working fine at first, but then I noticed that the phone was acting very sluggish when I first wake it up. I have Go Launcher and the Go Task widget that displays running apps and free memory, and for some reason there are some apps running that I would not expect.

There are regular apps like Swype, Fancy Widget Pro and others that should be running in the background at all times. But the strange ones that stick out are Osmos HD and Super Monkey Ball 2 - SE. Both are games that I haven't run in days, and I have rebooted the phone a number of times since.

Could this odd behavior be due to the fact that I didn't wipe all of the user data when I upgraded to this ROM? In the past I've always done a Titanium Backup and then restore apps after completely wiping my phone, but was hoping to skip all of that this time around.

Thanks for any help!

Try uninstalling the ones that you feel are acting weird, then see if it still acts sluggish. You can reinstall those games after trying that amd see if there is a difference.

Ah, good thought. I don't know why I didn't think of that. It's certainly easier than wiping the whole phone. :)

Thanks!

edit:

And I think Osmos HD might have been the culprit. I uninstalled Monkey Ball and it was still painfully slow going through the app drawer, but as soon as I got rid of Osmos it picked right up. I'll leave them both off for now and see how things run, maybe reinstall them at some point.

Thanks again!

it could be, those caches you didn't wipe are probly holding old data from those apps and old user data of yours associated with those apps and some of your old settings

when i first flashed this rom i did everything correctly, except i forgot to wipe the dalvik cache and alot of my apps were taking forever to load or run, etc. i recleared it all remembering the dalvik cache and reflashed and its been running like a dream

i came to the conclusion that it was probly my old settings basically headbutting with my new settings

i would personally(others may have different, other or better suggestions)
re wipe doing the standard wipe/factory, clear cache, clear dalvik cache, and reflash

yeah, I'm often of the idea that wiping is easier and more thorough than trying to find out what is causing the issue. Whenever I have a problem with my PC that I can't figure out in a short time I just format and reinstall everything.

But I'm getting lazy in my old age, so that sounds like a lot of work. :)

I uninstalled the two games and it seems to have helped. Maybe uninstalling them cleared out whatever data was causing it to run in the background and reinstalling now would be safe. But since I don't really play the games I'll just leave them off for now.

But thanks for the tips!

For Some reason my batter has been dying very quickly. I don't have wifi, bluetooth, or GPS enable. Just normal cell. As far as I can tell, I've got good signal. When I look at my battery use, it's all in "Cell Standby" and "Phone Idle" Like almost exactly half and half. What's going on? I'll Try and post a picture once I figure out how to take a screen shot with cyanogenmod.

Edit: I did notice that the line item "Awake" is almost straight blue. This sounds like the battery leak issue of "not going into deep sleep". However, I'm not using anything that is supposed to cause it.

That shouldn't be draining that fast at all, I see your saying wifi and bt are off, but there are some other known apps(I'm not quiet sure which) but they'll keep the phone awake, also anything that is running internet like browser will drain ur battery, but should only really do it while in use

Do you have BetterBatteryStats?
t It would give us the best clues as to what direction to go. Also, did you clear your caches? Data cache and dalvik cache?
It's probably an app that's doing it. It's going to be hard to tell without a direction to start.

What does CPU Spy show?

What about Spare Parts | Usage statistics?

(I take it you aren't using it all those awake times..?)

Just an confirmation, my "Awake" bar shouldn't be that filled in right? I'm a little concerned it's a batter problem.

Correct. If the awake bar is that filled, then something is keeping your phone awake.
Have you cleared the caches yet. It won;t hurt anything, just make it take a little longer to boot and load the apps the first time.
