Root [ROM] CM7 TG-Reloaded (Final: 03-25)

Personally I didn't notice any difference in the touch screen...but I don't really play any multi touch games. That's why I've stuck to the old one since I reinstalled

I don't do any multi-touch gaming either, a smoother touchscreen driver makes it run more reliably even in less demanding situations. Anyone else tried & notice any differences between the two kernels I posted earlier?

What kernel are you using on this ROM? I just updated to the newest OC kernel and it is SLUGGISH no matter what I do, I just went back to the original CM7 TG Kernel and everything is fine.

Thanks

Which one is sluggish? The one included in my 12-30 ROM? It's BASED on theOC v1.6.14 (but not exactly the same). The last two I posted last night for touchscreen comparison are further tweaked, only diff between those two should be the touchscreen drivers.

I am talking about theOC v1.6.14it is VERY sluggish on mine, so I am not sure what's going on, let me check on those others that you posted last night.

*EDIT** where are the new ones?

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but I felt the internet speeds on TG_reloaded rom are a lot slower than beta 0.8.

I tested this by installing an old backup I had from beta .8 and ran a speed test on wifi. I got 4403 kbps down and 1007 up. I searched "android forums" using the search soft key and the google page loaded in 5.2 seconds.

I went back to my TG_reloaded and ran speed test on the exact same wifi about 10 minutes later. I actually got 8150 kbps down and 1002 up. (Through testing I noticed that speed test gave higher result for TG_reloaded consistently). Again I searched "android forums" using the search soft key and even with higher speed test results, the google page loaded in 35.7 seconds.

That is a massive difference on such a basic internet page.

Is this happening to anyone else? Does anyone know why this might be happening or how to fix it?

I love the little things in TG_reloaded like the roboto font and I'd like to stick with it, but if the wifi speeds stay like this I'm gonna be going back to beta 0.8.

Edit: I should also mention that I am running the default kernel that comes with TG_reloaded

The search button loads up "GoogleQuickSearch" app, and then a browser, then queries the web for it, so there are extra steps that's not testing just the data speeds. The browser or the app could be slowing things down if it has a corrupted cache or needs to do some cleanup. To do an apples to apples comparison, you'd have to go into the settings - applications - browser - wipe cache, on both ROMs and test. Or just stick with the Reloaded ROM and use another browser to do the search. Did you do Titanium Restore after flashing the Reloaded ROM? Try wiping cache and dalvik-cache in recovery and then reboot and rerun test also.

Wiping cache & dalvik-cache is recommended before flashing anything in recovery (including kernels).

Thank you that makes a huge difference
I didn't think I had to wipe caches when restoring backups but now I know. Thanks

Probably be asked before but how is HD gaming on this from?.... is it better then miui or close to froyo based roms. Since when i play HD games on miui sometimes they lock up but not on froyo based roms? Thanks for replys

I believe, as being official, froyo are the most stable and least demanding for our phones. I also believe that MIUI is more demanding than CM7 which is why something might run worse on MIUI. I run that rom and it's sluggish when I play certain games and such, probably going to switch back to either this ROM or Froyocream soon. Also on MIUI my camera doesn't focus properly unless I'm close to the target...it's annoying and completely unrelated lol

Thanks for reply. A cm7 based from is the only one i haven't tested yet or even flashed on my phone yet lol. So ill probably give it a try. I love the smoothness of froyocream with gaming but love the look of miui and i constantly flash the between the 2. But i really want to buckle down to a single rom that has gaming smoothness but good UI too.

I tried both of the kernels. On both of then I get a merging effect. And when the points get close, they gravitate tward each other. that explains the trouble I had in some of my games. The games put both controls on the same horizontal line.
I've heard that is a hardware issue and thus can't be fixed.

ATM I am downloading this rom. Have been on MIUI for awhile for the beauty of it along with the great options in the extended settings we simply don't get in CM7. however you can use either adw or go launcher as they both have a decent MIUI theme for their respective launchers. You don't get the other options but at least the general interface looks close to the same.

Yup, it's a hardware limitation with the snapping together. At least we don't get the cross axis problem.

on this ROM is it necessary to flash gapps ? if so is 20110828 the lastest ?
Thanks

Yes, flash gapps right after flashing this ROM. Also be sure to wipe cache partition AND Advanced -> Wipe Dalvik-cache in recovery mode. Latest version & changelog will always be in post #1 & #2 of this thread.

downloading and flashing now. good to see development continuing. thanks for adding to the enjoyment of our phones ^_^
