Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/01/13)

Need some help... I've been using this ROM for quite awhile now and it works very well. I keep having data connection issue's though.

Right now I have full bars and a 3g connection and I get: 'connection timed out' when trying to even bring up the Play Store.

Loading web pages is extremely painful and many times will not work at all.

Also downloading MMS's many time will not work. Sometimes I can go into CWM, wipe the cache, dalvik, and restore permissions and then the MMS will download but I still have issues with the play store.

I just wiped EVERYTHING and reinstalled and I am still having issue's with web pages and 'connection timed out' when trying to access the play store. Any suggestions?

Its the network. Boost runs off sprint & as a sprint customer of 9 years i can say for sure they are having major issues with their network nation wide for over a year now.

The problem is that people are taking advantage of the unlimited data that sprint offers via tethering and hot spotting. While it is true that sprint is a nationwide carrier their hardware isn't able to keep up with all the data being demanded. Why do you think they are pushing hard to get LTE out there ASAP.

Mine did something odd on the charger last night running 2.2.

Nothing serious, the battery indicator showed 99% after like 6 or so hours on the charger. It did not over charge or over heat or freeze up, it was at 84* and totally responsive when I woke up. I just unplugged the charger from the phone, plugged it back in and 10 minutes later it showed "charged".

check out this battery MmmMmmm :D

one has a lot of idle time i worked a long day that day

Mine has been doing that since I went to 2.2 as well. But I do not think it is the phones ability to charge the phone, I believe it is a line or 2 of code that isn't reporting that the battery is charged. I haven't noticed any difference in the lifetime of the battery after a charge.

I did not start to notice until a few weeks ago.... Its really getting bad now. I cannot even download a 2.8MB file... dies about 10kb into it. That's pretty sad! They better get LTE moving!

Question. I am currently using CTMod 3.68. Which if I understand correctly is a customized version of the stock rom. Minus the bloatware.

My question has to do with boot time. Is there ANY way of shortening the boot time of this rom on this phone? It takes almost 90 seconds to go from boot animation to lock screen. Which is identical to the stock rom. I ask this because the CM ICS rom being made for this phone takes 25 seconds.

I know it isn't what I have loaded during boot because I only have 3 things loading. Norton AV, GMAIL and Google Play.

Any suggestions?

I dont know for sure, but it seems like the laggy, freeze/ sleep of death that needs a battery pull every day is happening more frequently.... anyone else

Really? I dont know. I might go back to 3.65. 80% of the time when it happens to me I'm driving on the freeway and it really sucks because I have a tpu case.

I used to reboot around 24 hours but thats no good now. yesterday it did it at around 15 hours.

It's a bug in version 2.0/2.2 of the kernel causing it, not the rom.

To stop it you'll either have to reboot once a day or flash one of the earlier kernel versions.

I've done a lot of testing to figure out what is making it do that and it appears to be something with the cpu, probably the voltage is to low. Hopefully I'll get it fixed sometime soon.

Dunno if this is rom dependent or phone/network dependent. When i send a text message that is 130 characters to 160 characters, the recipient doesn't get the text at all. But if I send a text that is 129 characters or less, the recipient gets it fine. I tested this using the stock messaging app and third-party app (ChompSMS). Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm on 3.68 rom, gb kernal 2.2, already did full re-install.

I'm using ChompSMS and mine works fine. Make sure your settings are correct in the app. If it's still not working I would flash the ROM again. Anything over a certain amount and the message will split. Doesn't sound like your is splitting and they are only getting the first part.

On ChompSMS, go under settings/Mobile Carrier Network/CDMA Split. Make sure it is checked.

Hey Blood,

Lovin' CT Mod. I have it installed on my wife's phone. It runs real stable but I had an issue in getting Google Talk running on the phone. I keep getting FC's when starting it up. I have fixed permissions, cleared data, and all that jazz. Thanks again for a great ROM.

Are you using the talk.apk from the removed app zip?

I am using the talk.apk and lib. file from xda. I used it on the ZTE warp without any issues. Let me dig up my post on the ZTE warp forums for the link to it. I did the install through Root Explorer. Thanks for your help.

Edit: Here is the link I used.

[APP][ROOT] Google Talk 1.3 with Video calling, Now wifi optional! - xda-developers

that won't work cause the apk signature doesn't match the rom.

take the talk.apk from RemovedApps.zip in the 2nd post of this thread and add it to /system/app.

If you replaced the stock lib you'll also have to pull libtalk_jni.so out of the CT3.68.zip and add it to /system/lib/
