Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/01/13)

Hey Blood, since I've gotten my phone back from LG and installed the new kernel, my widgets have been disappearing every 4 or 5 days when I do a reboot.

I'm gonna try this new kernel fix you posted and see if that solves my problem. I'll report back and let you know what's up.

Edit: installed the new kernel 30 minutes ago and been playing with the phone since. The phone runs better with this kernel. It has a better feel to it. Thanks

yea, it seems smoother for me too. I did a ICS version that I'm using with MIUI right now to see how it works. hopefully this fixes that freezing.

I'm on day 2 with the new kernel and it's smooth as butter. Nice work bro and thanks again. :)

I was going to turn it up but haven't needed to. It's running beautifully @ 1200.

Ya 1200 is perfect for this phone i think. Just installed it and it does feel much better! Will see if it farts out in a couple days but Ill tell ya pandora doesn't get all funky at screen off/screen on anymore. Thanks man!

I just experienced a lockup with the test kernel. I went to watch a youtube video and got two forced closes - that never happened in the past(then again youtube just updated the app) on the 3rd try it locked up, had to pull the battery for a reset.

My youtube is up to date & i just checked it out no freeze for me. It loaded up and played 9 different videos just fine for me. 6 on wifi 3 on 3g.

without rebooting the phone could you try again tomorrow and wed if possible. Today my phone locked up on the first attempt of playing a video. I watched a few last night and all was fine, went to watch one today and it locked first attempt. The test kernel was installed about an hour after it was posted, I don't use the phone much still on the same charge with 52% battery left.

voltage control is set to deadline interactiveX 300-1300

Mines been on for 28 hours so far without freezing. I'll see how it does tonight and tomorrow.

I had mine lock up on me for a few minutes today while I was playing a game. I waited on it to start responding again and used the app "Fast reboot" then turned the cpu up to 1340 and it ran smooth as could be.

I have a feeling I didn't have much RAM free when I started the game. Freeing the RAM with Fast reboot and turning up the cpu solved my problem and it's running great now when I play that game. I don't think it had anything to do with the kernel.

Try freeing up your RAM next time before you start watching videos. Especially if the phone has been on for a good while. I may be wrong but I think the RAM may have been your culprit. The phone should play videos just fine with your cpu settings. Mine actually plays YouTube videos well with the cpu set at 1000. Playing around with the governor might not hurt though. Have you tried the "Lagfree" setting yet? It has always worked well for me. It's just a little harder on the battery is all. That's why I don't run it all the time.

EDIT:

I just wanted to add that I watched about 45 minutes worth of YouTube videos over wifi this morning with no problems. It ran very smooth.

Thanks for the info wetbiker. I'll check the ram usage prior to launching YT tomorrow and the following day. It seems after the phone has been in use for a few days YT always locks it up when I hit play for the first video play of that day. It makes sense it could be the problem.

Yep, I think it's definitely a RAM issue. Pretty sure you won't have that problem if you use an app like Fast Reboot or just reboot your phone before you start using YouTube. Let us know if that works for ya. I hope it does. :)

Oh, one more thing. My Prevail would do the same thing. If it had been on for a day or so or I had been using it a lot, it would start to lag or even freeze up on me sometimes. I usually use Fast Reboot or do a complete reboot before I start watching videos or playing cpu intensive games. Normally I don't have any problems. I just got in a hurry today after I had installed the new game and forgot to do one of those things I mentioned. Lol. That's what I get for getting in a hurry. :p

A ram issue would that be the rom handing issue? I had the stock rom running for several weeks, without a problem. I ditched that version last week to test out CM10 and then went back to CTmod with the test kernel- problem started again. I didn't have a lockup with stock or with 1.5kernel. I'm not sure I had 1.5 running long enough to tell though. I'll keep experimenting to see what works.....

Yep, experimenting is the best thing to do because what works for your phone may not work for another and vice versa. The apps you are running have a lot to do with it. Were you running the exact same setup each time?

I've been running the new kernel since shortly after blood posted it without issue. No freezing or glitches.
Also, just tried some YouTube and an MPEG (Big Buck Bunny) and both ran without problems.

It's been a while since I done anything with the phone. Can someone remind me how to flash to the new kernal? Thanks

P.S if you can also let me know how to take a screen shot will be grateful

Sorry to say my wife said it froze on her when she tried to watch YouTube videos with the new kernel.

I had it on a stock ZVC for a few month with no issues. CTMod is so smooth and fast. But she'll probably want to go back to the stock ZVC.

I just changed the governor to 300-1000mhz and see how that runs.

yea, my phone froze last night while i was sleeping after being on for like 38 hours.

back to trying to fix shit. I might get another test kernel out sometime today.

If you guys are tired of having to reboot once a day and want 100% stability you can just flash hyper 0.2 (pretty much the stock kernel, no overclock) till this is fixed, or try one of the other guys kernels if the links are still up.

I'm good with the test kernel. That app I've got, FastReboot, seems to do the trick for me. All in all, mine is pretty darn stable, bro.

Hey dude how can I contact you because I can't pm you

I think my phone has a bad sd slot, it won't mount within android or CWM, is there another way to flash this rom? via adb maybe?

Ya mine did it tonight also on my way home from work. Im pretty sure it was around the same time...about 36 hours or so.
