Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/01/13)

Check out either Handcent or Chompsms. Those 2 messaging apps will give you the options you are looking for. You'll just have to go through one of those apps and look for what you need. I use Chompsms and love it. It has all kinds of ways to theme it and modify options.

What is the specific things you are wanting to do with the messages? Let me know and I'll see if I can give you a step by step tutorial on how to do it. Please be specific with your questions.

I'm looking to change a style visual display of threaded sms/mms
something like this:

Just checked Chompsms, looks pretty good, still need to "play" with settings,
but still cant find my answer how to "reply all" to iPhone MMS's :(

Yep, Handcent or Chompsms can help you with customizing the look. As for the "reply all" option, I didn't see one on chompSMS. Handcent may have it though. Someone who uses Handcent can probably tell you.

Finally i did it,
I really like Blue HC Theme by Sik00, but i never like battery in the title bar, so i desided to modify this theme to show this battery icons

Running the ROM from post #1 in this thread. Google voice search crashes - anyone have this problem? Any suggestions besides clearing its data/cache which I already tried?

Clear data and uninstall it with Titanium, then download it from the market and let it re-install. I've had to do that before and it solved my problem.

You don't have to use Titanium but it's what I used. :D

Again playing with battery Icons, check it out if you like it.

You can download it here (SPRINT ONLY)

Original Thread with instructions on how to install Theme.

Also as wetbiker7 mentioned before,

Wipe Cache & Dalvik
After theme install, Reboot in Recovery
in Advance select "Fix Permissions"

That didn't help. From what I read in a different thread it crashes because Browser.apk has been removed and the Voice Search app is hard coded to use that browser not the default browser which in this ROM is Maxthon. I'll try and restore it from the removed apps zip and see if I have better luck.

I'm pretty sure voice search was one of the removed apps.

I uninstalled my browser.apk, downloaded opera, and changed it to a system app to replace the stock browser. I clicked on voice, the pop up said it wasn't installed. went on play store, downloaded voice search, and voila. It's not hard coded to use any specific browser, just whatever is assigned as your default. typically, thats going to be the browser in the /system/app folder, not /data/app. That can easily be changed though.

/system/app has Chrome.apk - how can I set it as the default browser? Does it need to be called Browser.apk instead or it doesn't matter?

If you have more than one browser installed, go in the app drawer and click chrome. You should get a pop up asking if you want to make that your default web browsing application.

If you have any other browsers installed that you have tried, i would uninstall them. if you prefer not to uninstall them, go in to settings>applications>manage applications, go to any browsers you have installed BESIDES chrome. select them and go down to the button that says clear defaults. next time you click a link, it should ask you to select a default (if there is more than one browser)

In /system/app check to make sure your permissions are correct for chrome.apk. It should be rw-r--r-- (the same as every other app in that folder)

beyond that, there isnt much more i can think of without knowing exactly what you did to get where you are. are you getting force closes with voice? is it not launching at all? does it work in messaging and/or google search? or neither?

I tried setting Chrome as the default browser, it simply doesn't work with Voice Search when searching, it just crashes. Other actions from voice search work (e.g. send sms, navigate to, etc.) I restored Browser.apk from the removed apps zip and now Voice Search works, it no longer crashes. I have the CTMod 3.68 from the first post in this thread.

Thanks for the fantastic ROM Blood Dawn! Just a couple of personal feedbacks:

1. I see a lot of people here use Swype - perhaps its inclusion would make things even easier. I know that TouchPal is available for free, but only found it after wandering through a non-functioning Swype-styled keyboard, and putting back in the stock Swype didn't work for me either. ICS keyboard is a nice touch.

2. The stock email app was also something that I found very useful, especially since it seems to be working quite well with Outlook emails accounts. I also see some value in including that app by default.

3. I personally prefer the stock browser over Chrome, so thank you for including that in the "removed apps" pack.

4. I also run into sporadic camera errors, as in the camera app not firing up. Is the fix (turn flashlight on/off) for the 3.68 of other phones also applicable?

Keep up the great work. This ROM is really the icing on the cheaply-available Marquee. Now if only the battery will last for over a day!

LOL! I don't know how many of you will appreciate this, but when I saw that CTMOD 3.70 was out my first reaction was disbelief because I watch CTMOD so closely I couldn't believe I missed the release by a month. I immediately downloaded it, backed up my phone, wiped it and loaded the ROM. Half way into reloading all my apps from play store I realized I was on the CTMOD forum for the Samsung Transform Ultra!!!! I have an LG Marquee!! I'm just glad I didn't soft brick my phone!!! HAHAHAHA! Blood, thanks for all your dev work. You know your good when you've got people loading your ROMS without even thinking.

You got lucky... you very well could have HARD bricked your phone... if you overwrite the wrong partition with data not meant to be there you can end up with a phone that won't even turn on! You should be VERY carful that you are installing ROMs meant for your phone... next time it might not be so laughable ;)

This is why device asserts were invented. Yeah they can be a pain sometimes but they are a Good Thing.

I still can't believe that no one in Android community come up with fix for MMC
can't find "Reply All"

iPhone friends drives me CRAZY :)

Can apps such as Maxthon "Chrome" be upgraded to their current version from the one that came with CTMod? Also, the Play Store app (Vending.apk) doesn't seem to update itself either.

delete Chrome.apk from /system/app and install Maxthon from the market. to update the play store download the version you want to your computer, rename it to Vending.apk and push it to /system/app/
