Root [ROM] CyanogenMod 7 Huawei M835

I have been using the cm7 from December (page 5 in this thread I belive) and have gotten everything working -- there is no boot sound (which is ok) and I tried making. moving the build.prop file and an mp3 still nothing. I was finally able to get gmail and things to sync, and the resolution (or lcd density is at 110) - the only thing I can't get to work is the camera - it will take pictures, just shows a blank white page. anyone know about this?

theres a bootsound binary and props in the etc/init.local.rc thats needed also. If you look in the cm7-ascend.zip you will find these files and if IIRC the sound file sound be name android_bootsound.mp3 and be located in system/media/audio/ui.

And Flash will never work correctly or fully on the m835 for the same reasons as it will never work on the Ascend. ;)
 
1 more thing as I try not to be so new - I notice that if I try and select a contact and call it , my call drops , using Google voice it does not. I uninstalled Google voice and same issue.
 
my assumption -- did n't know of the camera was related to anything flash .. have ye any knowledge on a dropped calls issue? ( yeah I know time to get a better phone ..) :D I will haveto check your wiki to see which one -- would you recommend esteem or galaxy ?)

yea thats referring to flash player.

You mean the indulge? I'd def recommend the esteem over it. ;)
 
ok pg esteem it is - its about 350 but it would be a greater change from my huawei m835 -- I am trying to get this call issue resolved - I will check here as well - is cm7 working or will cm9 be working for it? at this point it is either that or switch to boost for a better phone -- wifi working in your build 09162011 -- ( for m835) just white cam preview and this odd dropped calls - I don't know if it is adding a +1 to it but they don't connect or call, if I direct dial it seems to work ... and finally , is the esteem hard to root. customize?

theZVB version is rootable, dunno if ZVB or ZVC will come on a new Esteem now or not.

CWM is avail for it in a AIO root and CWM install now too. I am working on CM7/9 for but nothing is ready atm, but there is a few modded stock ROMs and a 2Ghz oc kernel available for it. ;)

The Esteem will make you kick your m835 to the curb n never look back. ;)
 
I am having trouble partitioning my sd card. I tried to back up my current rom and i kept getting this message saying that the sd-ext file does not exist. When i partitioned it i didnt get any error messages. I have an 8gb sd card. If you can, please help.

Have you partitioned your sdcard for a sd-ext partition? If not you will get that error but its nothing to worry about, its just stating it doesnt find one n moved on.

Will get the same error when doing a wipe/data/factory reset, and again nothing to worry about as it just isnt there unless the sdcard has been partitioned for it.

How can you partition it for a sd-ext partition using clockworkmod?
 
open up clock work recovery on your phone and select partition sd card -- make sure you are connect to your pc and you do a backup of your SD card as this wil partition - for the huawei m835 I chose 512 and 0 on the saw file ---

PG - how can I tell what version of esteem I am getting or what to look for ?

My current Dev Esteem has a sticker under the battery with the ZVBxxx version on it. Most likely any new phones will come with ZVC tho, but ya never know lol. Also can tell by look in menu > settings > about.
 
idk if im da onli one havin dis issue or if its been brought up in this thread but 4 sum odd reason weneva my fone reboots it gets stuck on da cm7 logo ad wont come out of it untill sum1 calls or tx can anybody tell me wats goin on plz and thanx in advance

Did you try reflashing? This happened to me and it worked fine after I reflashed. Which version do you have of cm7?

its da one 4rm da 1st page on here but ive been usin dis version for a gud lil minute everything workin fine it jus started doin dat but i will reflash and see wat happen
 
... really? I can't understand half the stuff you kids say anymore...

Cm7 is a tad buggy still but it gives me no major issues. If you want to redlash then download the rom over a strong, uncluttered wifi connection (aka not burger king) and try again.

If you are using rom manager try downloading and flashing manually.

I'm currently working on a project to create a low cost kit for the Android ADK. Seeing that the m385 seems to be the lowest cost no contract phone($40) I would like to include it in the kit. What I've accomplished so far:

  1. Installed ROM above (I choose this one because the need for WIFI)
  2. Installed the USB Accessory JAR and XML file
  3. Installed DemoKit APK to interface with Arduino

When I plug it my USB Host Arduino to the m385, it isn't recognized. I know the Host Arduino works because I've connected to Nexus with no problem. I'm wondering if there is anything else that needs to be done to the ROM. I see in the config.gz that "# CONFIG_USB_GADGET is not set" which would seem to need to be enabled.

There is some talk of this here

I'm not familiar with compiling the source for ROMs and how to change the config, so any help would be appreciated. Also if there is another gingerbread phone at a comparable price, I'd love to know about it.
