Root [ROM]DESTROYER...ready to wreck your evos face!!!!

Excellent theming but there were far too many things missed for my liking (black on black txt, GPS.spotty, jerky laggy transitions) I expect way more out of a rom.

Back to kings in less than 2 hrs ....there are better alternatives out there that required far less work to get them running correctly

Curious what you didn't like? I actually flashed back to Kings not long after flashing this as well. I wasn't used to AOSP and was having problems getting it setup how I wanted. But I ended up giving it a go again and it's really starting to grow on me. I still have a couple issues I'm trying to work through, but (I hate to say it), I think I like trying something other than Sense.

I tried vaelpak for a bit (probably not long enough), and I thought it was alright, but not great. I hear that's a great ROM, what do you really like about it?

I also gave MIUI a go, but iPhone flashbacks quickly killed that.

I think it boils down to, I really like the stability of Sense ROMs, but I'm starting to see the value in AOSP ROMs.

animations were screwed up (prob needed to reflash) things were not as well organized gps was lagging voicemail was a hit or miss, vaelpak is nice stable organized everything works out the box but its chewing up my battery ,gonna give it a few more days on the battery

Has anyone give this a go?

Found here on XDA.

The thread has been quite active since it's launch last night.

If nothing else, read the OP, it's pretty good.

I'm going to give it a try this weekend when I have more time to mess with it. I'm not used to a non-sense ROM so I want more time to get it setup.

Maybe im nuts, but when i flashed this rom, it said that its cyanogenmod(i cant remember how its spelled) looked cool, and im sure id like it, but i restored to Koni's elite series 2, dunno what advantages cyanogenmod has over ES2 (or even if there are any advantages for that matter)

It's based off Cyanogenmod which is an AOSP ROM (or non-sense ROM). Those ROMS use an alternate launcher such as LP or ADW since they don't have the Sense Launcher. It's my understanding that they are more customizable than Sense-based ROM's. (I'm still pretty new to this and learning about AOSP, some I'm sure someone can give a much better explanation).

Koni's is a Sense-based ROM. I've found that the Sense ROM's tend to be more stable, and typically have all functions working, while in an AOSP ROM that isn't always the case. Some people have full functionality, but I had a few problems (like GPS, and VVM) on Destroyer.

so i have had this rom for awhile. the only thing is that the battery dies pretty quickly from 100% to 75%. from there it seems to be ok. nothing running from what i can tell. have my kernal installed and setcpu sent to smarta$$.

So I've read / skimmed over the 2 pages here, but can't decide if this is just another theme to go over CM7 or what... What's the difference between this and CM7?

***edit***

I've also added this thread to a thread I started for CM7... for discusison and visablity.

This one is mostly just a themed version of CM7 RC2. It does offer more options in the Theme Changer than RC2 does. I believe there are 15 different theme packages to chose from.

Tried CM7-RC2, my first AOSP rom, had FC's out the wazoo. Flashed Destroyer & OMFG I love this rom!!! Smooth as butter on S_Z 0.2.1-cfs OC'd @ 1152MHz, runs cooler, & is just about as stable as my daily driver VaelPak 3.2-RC1.
It has a couple of small bugs, GPS is hit or miss, & the "damaged sd card" was a little scary (fixed by reformatting my card). But other than that it's the BOMB!!!

Usually Swyped on my VaelPak'd & DeStRoYeD EVO... :D:cool::D:cool::D

I really like this ROM! But the one thing I don't like is the boot screen. Does anyone know if it can be change?

If you havent already figured out the boot animation thing, its quite simple once you get all the gibberish in the bootanimations forum figured out lol anyways, the format is part0 and part1 within the zip file, once you find (or create for that matter) the bootanimation you want, you put that zip file on the root of your sd card naming it bootanimation(1), or something other than bootanimation and install root explorer from the market. Next you open root explorer, move the zip file to system/media (or wherever your rom puts the bootanimation), rename the standard zip to something other than bootanimation.zip, and rename the one you want for the bootanimation as bootanimation.zip, reboot, enjoy :)

Battery life is kick ass with savage zen kernel. I was only getting about 5 hours with this rom, now i'm up to around 15. Anyone play with version 2 yet?

as of alst night, my evo was off charging for 14 hrs 47 min(not so sure about the mins lol) and still had like 38% batt left!!! and that was after normal useage all day, compared to Konis ES2 where my battery would have been completely flat and dead after 7 hrs.... lovin this rom!! oops, im not using destroyer, but the rom destroyer is based on rather :D CM7 is totally workin for me
