I've noticed an issue with Halo. When a certain notification comes up (I believe it's a weather update from Google Now, it's a cloud icon), opening it with halo pulls up a window of an empty homescreen with only the app drawer button. Clicking out of it shows the actual homescreen looking the same. Swiping left or right does not switch to other screens and the app drawer button does not work. The recents menu can open but once it did not function to switch to any other apps, another time it did allow switching.

I accidentally stopped the catlog early but the initial problem should have been captured.

The cause seemed to be specific and reproducible at least once if you want to test it or need me to gather any better info

edit with other info: reboot was needed to fix the problem and it occurred with stock launcher

I see driving mode is an option in dirty tweaks but is there a way to quick toggle this setting somehow?

No, there isn't. I asked about that previously and agree that a quick toggle would be nice. Been meaning to put in a feature request on g+.

Question, whenever I plug in a charger or set my phone on the wireless charger, the screen comes on. I am forced to shut it off.

Is there a setting somewhere that will not allow the screen to come on?

In the ROMS that i've seen it as an option, its usually in the display settings. I'm not running this right now, so I'm not able to check myself.

Your 100% correct :)

Thanks much.

Lenny

BTW......guess it means something that i have been searching for hours and did not find the setting. DU is VERY complete when it comes to options.

Possible bug(s) with latest Test Build:

1. I'm using the Expanded View and every once in a while I get the blue intro notice on how to use it.
2. Using the Lockscreen Blur. If I have an app open or if there's a webpage open and the screen times out sending it to the Lockscreen and swiping left to unlock for a brief second it shows the wallpaper and then resumes back to what was open.

Otherwise, it's a solid build from team Dirty Unicorns!

Well, you'll all be happy to know that I've got something planned up my sleeve (kernel related w/ a fellow dev who's come back from hiding under many stones). Going to try to do some fiddling and testing today.

So is the 3/18 test build with the kernel stuff? Just wondering if I should give the kernel a spin instead of slapping on Franco.

Hey Hook...........

Question. I am running 3/9 right now and have got my phone all set up with wallpapers and icons on 7 screen etc, etc. Is there a way to update this rom without going through all the setup?

Thanks in advance.

Sure, just do a "dirty" install. You flash the ROM without wiping first. It leaves everything alone and simply replaces the system stuff. Make a nandroid first. 99% of the time a dirt flash will work without creating problems. Frankly, if I got a problem, I'd try restoring the Nandroid and try again before I did a clean install if I didn't want to do all that setup.

I also reflash the Gaaps each time. Not necessary, but will help insure everything goes smooth and also won't disturb your setup. Finally, when you reinstall Franco (I do it OTA using FKU), DU will remember your settings for Franco so you won't even have to redo those.

FYI...............did as you said and it all went 100% :)

Thanks very much !

I actually highly recommend flashing gapps each time because if you don't - there's been issues with a few gapps not syncing (calendar, G+, and contacts) properly.

I've got nothing against dirty flashes. Especially if you are coming over from a recent build. However, if you run into issues - you should do a clean flash.

BTW - new test build up on G+. Use the link from the post because the image shows and older build. Added USB OTG support and a bunch of behind the scenes tweaks to /system/core and /bionic.

For those using Franco's kernels: you can change the sync freq to 300000 without any loss in performance, but provides a solid gain to batt life.

Got it last night. Thanks!

What is the "On-The-Go" quicktile? I assumed it was a toggle for the OTG capability, but it's name changes to "rear camera" and when you turn it on i essentially uses the rear camera to create a live wallpaper with everything else faded out but usable on top of it. Is that really what it is supposed to do? ;) And my next question is "why?" :D

Yes.

For walking/paying attention while using the phone. I'm not sure how useful it is though.

Based on where/how I hold it/ect

Hmmmmmmmmmm....wondered the same thing. I honestly thought it was just a issue in the rom. Thanks for the explanation. Have heard about this being available on some phones but had no idea. :)

Thinking I might flash the latest build tonight (20140319?). In two minds about whether to flash dirty or clean. I'm currently on 20140311 so I think in theory a dirty flash is fine but I'm wondering if it might be worth going clean just to clean my phone up in general, ya know?

Hey Joel.............I am on 318 now and did a dirty flash and all went well. I even tried it without flashing gapps at the same time and it seemed to work fine. I have re flashed my gapps and my favorite boot animation with 318 and all seems very smooth indeed.

Not sure I do what you do with this stuff but from a rookies point of view I have had no issues.

I just tried dirty and my phone kept rebooting over and over again so I restored the custom recovery I made before the dirty flash.

Not sure now whether I'll try a clean flash or not. Not sure if I can be bothered with the hassle.

My avatar generally expresses my attitude about people who walk in front of me using their smartphones. :p I'm not convinced them having a 5" diagonal soda straw to see the world through is going to improve anything.

Thanks for the explanation. :)

3/18 is smooth for me as all test builds have been. I dirty flash every one although I will likely do a clean flash down the line somewhere, maybe the next official release.

I don't know if skipping builds increases the risk with a dirty flash since things change in each build.

If you are using something like Titanium backup so you can quickly restore apps and data, resetting up after a clean install doesn't take all that much effort. Yes, you have to re-tweak the OS and system stuff that doesn't save settings on the internal memory.

I don't know what's going wrong, I thought maybe it was because I forgot to clear the cache the first time but I did it and it didn't help.

I flashed with Gapps and franco kernel at the same time to see if that helped but no dice.

I know it's not THAT big a deal to reset, I guess I'll have to do it but I'll probably leave it for another time. I'm not really in the mood to mess around that much tonight.
