Yeah, that was going to be my next move. I'll try it tonight. I'm just glad, if it isn't working, that it is stuck on 420 and not the other way around. :D

Keep me posted. If you need help tracking it down, use a file explorer with root perms and go to your /system partition - it's there on the root of that part.

Well, yes, it is working (and it does change the value in build.prop)-- and, yes, these old eyes (I'm 61) almost can't tell the difference between 420 and 480. :o I finally resorted to an improvised icon measurement to satisfy myself that the were changing dimension subtly.

I don't know what's up with the play store and don't care. I'm staying with the test build (at 420) for now because I really like it. ;)

I'm having the same issue as well. I used a build.prop editor to reset back to 480, restart (noticed resolution change), delete play store cache/data. Is there anything else changed in build.prop that play store uses to check for compatibility?

edit: some affected apps: Amazon, Real Racing 3, Angry Birds Star Wars, Babel Rising 3D, Tower Defense

edit2: via the play store website, for RR3 it says "This device cannot be installed in your device's country." The site thinks the other apps in my list still are installed so no reason is listed

edit3 SOLVED! I really wanted Amazon... Stock lcd_density is probably necessary, then delete the data for Download Manager and Play store. Hope that works for others

It's just funny that it's giving you guys issues, but I haven't had one and I'm on the lower DPI. Something tells me that it's linked to whatever gapps packages you're using.

I initially used the core+alternative gapps you posted, then reflashed and just used the alternative.

The new DPI is nice so I'll try changing it back to see if it works

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'm still using the Gapps package that was labeled standard that was linked to with the 12/16 version of the ROM. I liked it because it was fairly minimal letting me download whatever Gapps I wanted from the play store (which isn't a lot other than maps).

If there is a package you recommend, I'll do a clean install with it.

The problem is that these packages change SO often. Right now, I'm personally enjoying the new PA modular micro for 4.4.2.

Hey hook, did the new update bring back the option to disable the Google now ring thingy when swiping up from the home button?

Nope. It's going to be a little bit before that happens. Mostly because we're not doing any more nav bar changes for the time being.

No worries. I catch it quite a bit while doing other things. It's annoying but not a deal breaker. I really wish it was a stock option to turn off in the first place.

I even tried programming the home button with gravity box to do something else but it won't override that feature.

Yeah, that's baked in there real good. I think we're going to visit some nav bar alternatives in the future because Slim's nav bar has our stuff all out of whack. :)

Did a clean install and nothing was different. Amazon app still not available. However, I have to laugh at all this testing I'm doing because someone else brought it up. I don't care about the Amazon app. :D  I wonder if something changed about the app where it is incompatible with the N5s specs but if you already have it it lets you keep it. <shrug>

I really liked the new Gapps but as I have a lot doing this weekend, decided to save the clean install party until the next official release, so restored my Nandroid, with your 02/10 test build (love it) at 420 DPI.

Everything works and is grand that I care about. This is *the* *best* ROM. Thanks, so much! :)

Hey I can't seem to get to the hidden menu on the dialer. Any Ideas? BTW DU is Awesome

Okay, I'll bite. What hidden menu? And if it's hidden, how d you know it isn't there? :p (sorry, couldn't resist. Genuinely curious).

Okay, that was weird. Finally found a key app that I hadn't reinstalled in a while that said it was incompatible. This was One Note, which I use to keep writing project notes and is absolutely vital, even if I had been away from using it for about a month. So I changed DPI and it still said the same thing. I deleted data and cache from download manager, play store services and the play store and rebooted. Same thing.

So, finally, being in a try anything mode, I restored the 02-14-2014 DU kernel getting rid of Franco. Boom. The Play store made the app available (though., lol, it still doesn't offer Amazon). Downloaded One Note, restored 420 DPI and Franco and the app is quite happy. Was it the kernel? The kernel settings? I have no idea, but I guess next time I'll try replacing Franco first. Just strange.

Also learned something which may be the way things were supposed to be and I just didn't realize it, but it explains why I was having trouble telling 420 dpi and 480 dpi apart. When you make the change in build prop settings, the changes don't take effect until you reboot. Go ahead and laugh if this is one of those "everyone knows that" things. Hook is slow sometimes (HISS) ;)

Alright. Any way to check to see if my channels are still active

There was an app that I recall used to indicate what band of spectrum you were on, but I cannot recall the name at the moment. If you search S4GRU's forums - you'll likely find the answer.
