Root [ROM][FINAL] CM7 7.2 RC1 - g60 style [7.11.12]

is the kernel this ones running still the whyzor one?

is it the Default kernel based off TheOC kernel?

also curious to if u, g60, use the kernel in this rom of if u flash a different one, ive been on the fence for a while now about trying a different kernel out, but i usually only run CM7's and b_randons CM7 kernel hasent been updated in a lil while, i also believe lasttime i read the thread i think it said something about the b_randon CM7 v1.2, possibly breaking some users wifi and maybe even the volume bug fix on newer CM7 builds, havent checked in awhile so it may have been fixed, or it may have just been one or two users with the issue which could be a flashing issue very easily

Yeah you would need to reinstall it. I will need to look at that.

Is it possible to include it in the ROM? If it truly improves the GPS as many are claming, I don't see any harm to include it (if it's even possible).

I guess the only reason it shouldn't be added is if it has caused the GPS performance to decrease for some.

The b kernel has been updated and has worked great for me.

well it says

CM7 version has not been updated. It is way behind the current CM7 kernels, and I'm not sure it will even boot the current build of CM7. I've got to put alot of work into the CM7 kernel in order to get it updated. Thanks for understanding!

right in the CM7 Kernel description, which leave only the stock b_randon kernel which is for stock roms/froyosandwich roms i believe and from some things ive read i believe its highly advised not to install the stock b_randon kernel onto CM7 roms, i believe he says in the thread that it shouldnt even work

ive never played around with the kernels as ive never really seen an issue with the one i have, but ive been curious lately lol

It has been discussed in many other threads that there is no proof that the GPS fix does anything for the Triumph on any ROM. Most of it is anecdotal evidence based off of people saying they think it might seem better. I believe it was TickerGuy or one of the first devs on this phone that did some testing and found that, at first, with the GPS fix it locked on faster but then, after a few days it went back to the way it was.

I may be only speaking for myself but, my GPS works satisfactorily enough for me and I don't want something added to this ROM that may screw with how mine is working now.

If you want to use it, then more power to you and I'm not trying to tell g60madman how to build his ROM, but it is my opinion that the GPS libraries should be left in the "Optional - If you want to add it later" category and not built into the ROM.

The reason why it stopped working after a few days is likely because the system wasn't mounted before flashing the lib.

I'm thinking about making a youtube vid on how to properly update the lib as well as a before and after gps lock using GPS Test.

From may 4th. He just didn't change that text in the op.

I have updated the CM7 kernel to v1.2 and it boots and runs great on the newest CM7 builds! I tested it on g60's r04 CM7 build and it ran great. Haven't put to much testing into it, but it should be stable. It has the latest fixes and updates from mantera's and Whyzor's kernels, plus all the features of bKernel 2.0 for FroYo. It is a very fast kernel IMHO, and it should run great on any CM7 build!

Enjoy everyone!

This is Whyzor's Kernel which I have added the proximity fix from TheOC. Also this is the kernel I use on my daily drive. I don't tweak CPU or anything just use it the way I flash it.

Thanks for the update removing the extra apps. I much prefer a minimal version that I can customize myself.

I seem to be having problems with widgets not displaying after installing this update, though. In the widgets' place, it just says 'Problem loading widget'. Anyone else having trouble?

I will look into it and see what's what.

Is your widget app on an SD Card? Make sure all widget-including apps are on the phone's internal storage.

I had that problem and deleted that off my main screen. After that all my widgets added fine.

Before flashing I removed Zeam from the system folder since I already have it as a user app.
The ROM installed perfectly and upon boot I received the option of using Zeam or "Home Sample" as my default. I selected Zeam (of course) and then proceeded to uninstall Home Sample with Titanium Backup. When I removed this app, the system crashed and I had to reflash. Certainly not a problem, but I guess my question would be what is Home Sample? I'm assuming we shouldn't remove it?
Thanks! I'm loving the latest build :)

Home Sample is the very basic launcher at the Android OS level so yeah delete that and you'll have some issues :) I am glad you like it :)

Oh, okay. Thanks for the link!
Yes, I love it even more now that you stripped out everything that I used to remove from the zip myself anyway LOL :) Very cool!
