Root [ROM][FINAL] CM7 7.2 RC1 - g60 style [7.11.12]

I just did a fhash of the 0.8. The camera didn't work.
Camera.apk
use that link to get one that works until it's fixed in the ROM
G60, I am almost done with my github and local repos. I can work on this over the weekend, maybe even figure out went wrong if you don't beat me to it (still can't believe how fast your rig is now)

thanks! so how do I move that onto my phone? Do i plug it into the computer and move it into a folder? or? again, sorry I'm new :P

EDIT: Just downloaded easy installer from the app store and was able to easily install the apk file onto my phone! Thanks for the download link!

This camera apk, is this the full g60 rom files??
I have whyzors CM7, and CM9, I am wanting to download this rom too.

This is just the camera, not the whole ROM. The way I move it with es file explorer. Just remember to mount the/system folder as writable.

This ROM is Whyzor's with some updates. It just seemed the camera is giving g60madman some problems. I have posted a camera that works, at least mostly. I think I took it from an old Whyzor build. But It does work. Let me know how things work out, I'll be up for a little while.

I am working on this now, I have made some changes to the Device files based on HTC Incredible 2. Also I am using the stock Camera from Cynogenmod instead of our edited one. I should find out soon what we got...

Did you make sure to install Google Voice Search? I just tested mine and it worked fine.

:o. Thought it was in gapps, but guess not, since I did need to install it separately. Thanks for not laughing too hard at the newbie's IOHS issues. :D

Speaking of gapps, do I need to reinstall that when I update ROM (which is apparently going to be a few more days, given camera issues reported)?

This one worked perfectly, thanks :thumb:

I am currently working on r0.9 which will go back to the default Camera source. Since it's easier to make changes and test now that I can build faster I should get this resolved pretty soon.

No worries :) No you don't need to flash gapps, once it's installed it's good. If there is an update to gapps I will make sure to list it but it's been some time.

As far as the camera app being missing upon flashing, my solution was to go into the market and download a new one lol I got one called "Camera ICS" or something like that and it works perfectly.

Also, G60, I have to give you (and Whyzor and TG of course) kudos for this rom! I have been off the charger for more than 19 hours and my battery is at 91% charge! I didn't even get battery life like that when the phone was brand new on stock... Great job!

Has anyone had any trouble with .8?

It's probably just me but I've been getting some freezes and reboots, and it seems like my phone is using more power than normal in standby.

Just me?

I have noticed anything in this build it seems to be OK. I would recommend a doing a full wipe and see where it's at. I have noticed many weird issues with ROM's in general when you just do a wipe cache, dalvick cache and install ROM. I will be changing the install instructions to recommend a full wipe and reload each and every time.

My thoughts on it are like a Computer. You never install Windows on top of it's self. Sure it may work, however problems will arise from time to time. It's always best to do a full format and install so you know you have everything working properly. That is what happened when I tested r0.8. I installed Tickerguy's rom with the wipe cache/dalvick. I tested the camera and it looked good. So I stripped out the Camera.apk and added it into the build of r0.8. Then I wiped cache/dalvik and installed r0.8. Everyone tested fine so I released the ROM. Guess what, no camera.apk in the ROM. When ever I did the load on top of Tickerguy's ROM it left the camera from his ROM to the update of mine.

From here forward I will be doing a full wipe each time to test the ROM and my suggestion will be to do the same when you upgrade in between each ROM version no matter GB, ICS, or AOKP.

Any estimate on .9? My MT will be here soon, either way I'll be using your ROM as it looks rock solid for my needs. How long does it take GPS to get a lock? Couple seconds or a couple minutes?

Hard to say, based on release dates it's been about every 3-5 days. Now that my system just got a healthy upgrade it's much faster to test build test build so developing is moving a little faster. As for GPS it depends. Some people say instant others it takes a while. I have only used it once and it wasn't to bad maybe 20-45 seconds to lock on, however I was on Wifi at the time.

OK, OK...everybody slow down here. I've been reading all the posts but I haven't had time to post myself because I've been working. But anyway... I flashed r0.8 right over the top of r0.7 after only doing a wipe of cache and dalvik cache. I DID NOT do a factory reset.

I am having NO issues with the camera. The apk is there where it's supposed to be and it opens just fine. When open, I can switch from video to photo to front facing camera back to the other camera and back to video and/or photos with no re-booting or freezing or anything. I can confirm that when I was on r0.7 I was having issues with the camera freezing and force closing when switching between video/photo on the front facing camera.

Furthermore, I want to say that I have had no force closes, freezing, or random re-boots since flashing r0.8.

I'm not sure what I did or how I got lucky but I'm not having any of these issues that people are reporting.

After I did a full wipe and load the Camera was not there so I think it's hit or miss.

I get the occasional freeze up and have to do battery pull to fix it. It has never happened unless I'm on wifi and I think it has something to do with juice defender. JD does extend battery life though. Other than that everything works fine and this is the smoothest my phone has ever run. I really like Zeam and the clean bare bones setup. Thanks to all people putting in the effort to pull this off, makes me love my Triumph

Thanks G60 for taking the time to respond to my post, you are a great developer. I will try a clean install, just not looking forward to it :-)

I was also thinking that it might be soemthing with my battery, I've noticed my problems often happen when I leave my phone charging for a long time and I have a third party battery that was quite cheap.

I'll start with the clean wipe though.

So I won't be able to try any of these mods for a couple of weeks so I'm sure it might change by then but can I use go launcher with cm7? I'm not against trying a new one but I like this one

Ok, I can confirm this. what I did was
Set up a fresh 0.7
Flash over 0.8
On .7, the camera would freeze like expected
On .8 the camera seemed to work fine. Weired

Yep, that's what I'm using at the moment. Works fine. Zeam launcher seems neat, but it's not ready for primetime. I like launcherpro as well, but hasn't gotten updated in forever.

Exactly what I did. The camera has been superb for me!

G60, I've been looking around your github. I noticed you include a prebuilt camera, and build one (I looked in the default.xml)
I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Or I could of missed something.

I went from r.04 to r.08 couple of days ago and have no problems with the camera whatsoever. I'd say that the most annoying issue for me is the darkness of the screen when coming up from sleep as it's hard to see the 9 dots so I can unlock the phone.
