Root [ROM][FINAL] CM7 7.2 RC1 - g60 style [7.11.12]

I want to start by saying thank you for this great rom I always seem to come back to it as its the most stable and I love that you got rid of the bloatware but the main problem I'm having now is that it use to have the volume problem which I preferred because it would make my music extremely loud which I love ..but since I flashed the new version my audio is stable but is by far significantly lower than it was stock is there a way I can make it louder? I've used dsp manager to no avail and i also installed beats audio which made it sound great but its still very low thanks again

Is anyone having high-end games reboot the phone? Since this last update (r0.9), Temple Run and new levels of Where's The Water? reboot the phone.

I'm having the same problem, thought it was just me. It seems to be an issue. It's odd applications for me too, depending on the app sometimes things work fine, other times they freak out and force reboot.

I don't think it's that simple unfortunately. However, I use Camera Zoom FX as my default camera app. There don't seem to be any issues.
To the dev - keep up the good work. I did a system wipe then install. Works great.

Same thing happens to me. I Have to kill my apps and use a task killer a couple of times to make the volume loud again.

So I've been testing this ROM and here's what I think. It's a very stripped down CM7 based ROM which I like.It really doesn't look any different than CM7 reloaded.I really like the ICS themes in the theme changer. But there are problems. When I used the orginal theme camera and camcorder worked great but when I used the ICS theme the camcorder forced closed. Also when I go into the CM7 setting/system options for error reporting and such I get force closes as well.Out side that it's very nice ROM.I'm just wondering madman did you want it to look and feel like reloaded or are all CM7 based ROMs the same on look and feel til you change themes and such?

Sorry should have specified. Its when I use the headphone Jack ...its not really just cm7 I noticed it in cm9 on the older builds but aokp the sound is very loud...and yes call volume when using the Jack is sometimes very quiet

By default all CM7 ROM's look the same, the themes are which change it up. I will look into the camcorder issue you are speaking of when on the ICS theme, and also the head phone jack issue. I have been really busy and have not had a whole lot of time to work this week. Also I won't have time to work on this for about the next (2) weeks. So it will be a while before I finish r0.10 but it's in the works. Here is what I have so far...

r0.10
∙ Updated ROM build name to remove update & triumph to shorten zip name to "cm-7.2.0-rc1-g60style-r0.xx.zip"
∙ Reinserted CM7 camera code, imported changes from MSM/QSD Code Aurora, inserted back in Tickerguy's complete focus fixes (missed a few settings in r0.9)
∙ Changed 5MP profile from 2592x1936 to standard 2592x1944 which is our default resolution
∙ Removed Camera overlay settings from device_motorola_triumph_overlay now part of Camera.apk

There is still more I want to finish with r0.10 before I release it just going to be a while :D Also with the new Evo coming out I am sure some people are thinking I am jumping ship...I am not! I may purchase the Evo at some point but not till the price comes down from $299 or Black Friday sales. I do like the quad core, and also the 3D picture taking but I love, I mean I love the Triumph. This is the best phone I have ever used, mainly because I get to develop on it!! It's fun to be able to enjoy your toys but it's even funnier when you get to geek out on your toys!! :D

Glad you are sticking with the Triumph. Also this is something I noticed on CM7 builds is that it won't play videos from my older VM phones like the shuttle and rumor touch but the stock ROM played them as well as CM9.The reloaded CM7 won't even let you see a picture of the video but your build does......just won't let it play.I'm curious as to why it can play on stock and CM9 but not CM7 builds.Anyways keep up the great work!!!!

I am still working on the video issue. There is some major problems with that, it looks to be kernel and driver and possibly device file config. Hopefully I can get it fixed, that is going to take some time.

I think I'll start rehauling our documentation today. A more detailed FAQ, added questions and answers, and perhaps usage tips (for both power users and beginners) and more pretty pictures! This will take a while, so don't expect it for weeks. I also have to rebuild that FAQ in terms of organization. Maybe, I'll offer documentation as PDF files. But also, I will make some minor updates to the current FAQ.

Hmmm how would it be the kernel?Like I have said I don't know anything about kernels at all but if the older videos I have work on the stock ROM/kernel then I wouldn't think it's the kernel unless an updated kernel isn't working with the drivers to support the video. Also I see you and MikeRL are using CM7 g60 r0.10....guess you two and testing it out

Yeah kernel plays a very important role in the build. You have to remember all the code we have built is designed from TickerGuy, IssacJ, Mantera & Whyzor. The only thing that Motorola gave us was the kernel. The kernel they gave us is for Froyo. With out the work of those devs and others, we would not have a kernel that works with either Gingerbread or ICS. Drivers are even a bigger problem as we do not have any thing accept what was released in Froyo. No source, no updated anything. All trial and error to get our phone to work the way it is working in it's current state. What even makes it more difficult is our phone is a pieced together Frankenstein with hardware from multiple vendors.

As for MikeRL having the ROM it is for documentation purposes and testing. The more he can play with the build before release the better the documentation when you guys get it. While we are not a pro software shop I want to try and make this ROM a lot more user friendly and knock out as many bugs as possible before releases in the future. There is still a lot of work to do in the build as it looks like everyone is leaning on ICS themed out for CM7. So right now your not missing out on much as not much has been completed. Shorter name for the ROM, and just a little more stable of a camera.

Made some minor formatting corrections to the FAQ. My next focus, before adding any more questions, is to reorganize and add pictures to the FAQ. UPDATE: I have just finished reorganizing the FAQ. I cut out and rearranged parts of it. I still have to add more questions and answers, more details, and some images. So 1/4 of the way done part 1! Then, I have to create a Wiki! <sarcasm> Horay! Yay! </sarcasm> Luckily I have a whole lot of time now! I'm not uploading the FAQ again from this point on until the overhaul is complete. But that will definitely be before the next release. UPDATE: Now, in addition to seeing the official version on mtdev.us, you can view a preview of my next major FAQ revision over at Google Docs here. IMPORTANT NOTE: This FAQ is a work in progress, and is automatically updated as I update my work on my Google Drive. I would not recommend using the FAQ that I am still drafting, but if you're curious, you can still follow my progress there.

Great, I have no clue how to record screenshots of ClockworkMod Recovery! Guess you guys will have to settle with crappy Optimus V camera images! Sorry about that!

BTW I just went crazy with the bug tracker, and added a bunch of minor bugs and feature requests. I also think I've found a major bug that may effect developers when using this ROM with the SDK. These bugs are not really specific to the r.10 pre-release that g60 and I are running, but I figured that I'd might as well add them to the bug tracker, since many of them were either discussed in PMs between the two of us, mentioned here in the forums, or features I think we could benefit from. If everyone else thinks that these features would bring benefits, and g60 and the other devs believe they are doable, they'll be put on the radar for a future release. Don't expect them to be immediately fixed and all of them to even be agreed upon, however. This is not my ROM, but I think my two cents may represent the vast majority of this ROMs users, since we all want the latest, greatest, most stable, and ICS-like CM7 we can get on the Triumph. g60madman, if you see these bugs, do not stress over them now. Your life is more important than a ROM. And don't think you're given no starting point of where to look with this mass of bugs/feature requests. I've left some notes to other devs/designers that may help you with each, as they have fixed these problems already in their code or are able to do something and have told me that they may do it. And to the rest of you, blue skies are ahead, just don't ask for an ETA!

Yeah it is hard to patch everything up but just to let everyone know, Motorola gave us more than kernel.source, we got the system core repo, some Bluetooth drivers, the libpng and webkit source and others.

Ans mist phones only get the kernel source, actually most phones running cm7(official and unofficial) are phones with only kernel source and a few other bits they had to release due to gnu gpl requirements. HTC only releases what they have to such as kernel and other c and c++ coded bits such as some libs they had to change, which is what moto did for us. But at least alot of those other phones got official gingerbread updates so their kernel source was updated.

But official cm7 phones they usually rewrite many of the drivers, and my brother has a capativate with an official cm9 build running a Linux 3.0 kernel, but how they got that kernel is that pawitp went in himself and manually ported over the captivate drivers and things to the code Aurora Samsung 3.0 kernel. So source code is not everything but it certainly helps out!

Ok so after the initial download of cwm and cm 7 and it's all set up can you download other mods and install them from your phone? I know for cwm and the first setupyou have to have a computer. After that can I just download other mods to my phone and install them without a computer? Does that make sense?

Yup thats about it... once you have the CWM installed, your phone can be 'solo'

I should had known that duh blonde moment.I see the different kernels for stock and CM7 that should had told me lol.My bad.But it is still interesting how the kernel build that is allowing CM9 to run on our phone can play the older VM phone videos but the CM7 kernel can't.That's what I'm not getting. What is in their kernel code and drivers that allow the phone to play those videos?

Also on another note the browser for CM7 really sucks. It's like they didn't make any changes between 2.2 and 2.3 with the browser but 4.0 has a VERY smooth browser. Is there a way to change the browser on the ROM before you make it or are you stuck with it and the people have to download one that is better?

Well the cm9 kernel we have is almost the same as the cm7 and froyo for that matter. So tgatsaus to me its more in the rom. Possibly in some of the libs that control video playback. It could however be how the kernel is interacting with the libs. Apart from the ramdisks, there ain't a whole lot of changes manures has in his cm9 kernel that I ain't put in my bKernel.

If you don't mind. Could you tell me what kind of video files don't work well? I play videos that I have ripped from DVDs that work perfectly. I use a .mp4 container (codec talk) I don't use any others, but I'm curious to what else I should try to play with.
Oh! I also use .WMV. My mom likes to send me videos. I had to use Rock player to get the codec for it.

Well the set from my old LG rumor touch were .mp4 files that can't be played. The ones from my old shuttle were very low grade and I had to complete rebuild them cause when I saved them to my SD card they got corrupted but I rebuilt them as .mp4 files but orginially I don't know what they were.

Ah ok.Yeah cause CM9 not only let's me play my older videos but also there isn't the jumpyness like in the CM7 builds. It's very interesting how a ROM build can change alot of things (CM7 working cam but video playing drawbacks vs CM9 with perfect video playing but no cam)I'm just glad people like you and madman are still working to perfect the CM7 builds.
