Root [ROM][ICS][4.0.3][4-7-12][WIP] ics-deck-evo [pre-beta15]

I would like to hear comparisons to preview 4 by evervolv. Deck certainly does good work. His gingerbread aosp is my rom of choice.

It definitely has hardware acceleration. I read that one easy way to tell is if the screen has a gradation going from dark at the top to lighter at the bottom, and this has it.

Edit - Google calendar sync works! And it moves really well, barely tested anything so far, but I would already dare to say it is quicker/smoother then evervolv's P4.

Sorry to keep commenting, but for anyone looking to get a good taste of ICS you need to try this ROM. So smooth. For what he's calling a pre-alpha it is really nice.

Screen shot. Also, you can see the gradation from top to bottom that indicates hardware acceleration.

I'm in once he gets the camera working on one of his builds. I suppose by then it will probably be a beta and pretty stable. Thanks for all your comments guys, and psousa, don't you dare apologize for leaving too many comments! Keep the comments and screenshots coming!

I thought P4 was pretty smooth, so I'm glad to hear that deck's version seems even better. Funny story, I set up a SetCPU profile yesterday to keep the clock speed down with the screen off, and while my phone was on the charger it got very sluggish and slow, but I couldn't figure out why. Come to find out, instead of a screen off profile, I had set up a charging profile. Doh! But ICS was running decently even at 384MHz. Very very smooth at regular 998 or even 768.

Do any of you guys use battery monitor widget to track battery? I use it all the time, and my wifi sleep ma drainage with the .38 Linux kernels seems very high. I noticed it with this rom since the kernel is a modified Tiamat 4.1. With any of the gingersense kernels or with Tiamat 3.3.7 my phone will sleep while on wifi with approximately -20 ma usage, but with these kernels it sleeps in the -50 ma range (again, just talking about wifi sleep).

Maybe I'm the only one who cares about this stuff, but what do you guys see?

Oh ok. I actually have Beautiful Widgets but have used Fancy Widget more lately because I like their clock skins more. I saw that the full version was only $0.10 today. Great deal for anyone! You'd be crazy not to pick it up if you don't already own it.

Anything anyone want me to test on this? I'll run it until my son is born, at that point I will need a functional camera.

I'm going back to my nandroid, this ROM is very nice but I am getting random force closes including the launcher. A bit more stability though and this could be a daily for those that don't need a camera or 4G.

Love it so far! A few issues ive personally had ofcourse the camera is one. Youtube wont play video only sound. Same as preview 4 evervolv. This rom is much smoother and faster i got 7th highest evo 4g antutu benchmark score with this rom out the box. Like alot of the new ics features. Dont like a few small things from ics browser. Cm7 browser is the best browser ive used and ive flashed every rom available for evo. Ics browser when u look at all your open windows and close them, then the last one u close browser closes instead it should go home, just my opinion i guess. Everything looks smaller also. It seems a little more complicated to navigate than cm7 browser. I do very much like automatically being connected to all things google. Not sure if that was ever an option with other versions of android but its a plus here for sure. My gps seems so work fine. All in all love evo deck ics.

Def a lot smoother than the preview 4 ROM

P4 ran better on my phone:)

I can't wait until someone can get the camera working, thats the only thing keeping me from making ICS my daily.

With 2 kids and no camera, it's hard not to have the camera at your disposal. With the 9 month old, he's always doing something new and exciting so having a working camera is a must:)

I'm going back to my nandroid, this ROM is very nice but I am getting random force closes including the launcher. A bit more stability though and this could be a daily for those that don't need a camera or 4G.

I'm not seein much of a difference between this and P4 and I'm sure this is based off of P4 so......

I too was getting a few more FC's but it still is nice having 2 options right now for ICS. More options is better:D

I believe it is all deck's work as he said in the OP of the xda thread he's been releasing builds via twitter before creating the thread, and also that it's built from source. I noticed a big difference with the keyboard in landscape mode, P4 was very laggy for me there. I also felt the launcher was a bit smoother on deck's, but not a massive difference. It's awesome that we already have two separate build though!
