Root [ROM][ICS] Paranoid Android Ver1.6 Beta from source (31JUL2013)

one thing i just noticed trying to connect the phone to the computer was that my computer doesn't recognize my phone for some reason. its charging but saying Window's doesn't recognize device. any solutions? i downloaded the motorola drivers and still nothing. its weird because i get the mass storage and debugging windows when i connect to my car's headunit. btw it worked fine before this ROM just curious if its a known issue or if i'm missing something

which site you use for supercharger. i got one but its taking really long on the first boot not sure if i got the right one. plus it was saying use script manager to run it but the manager will only open the zip won't run it. so i flashed it and now just booting not sure whats going on?

oohh thats not supposed to be flashed. the zip has to be run from that app i specified, make
sure you enable the run as root box, then it will run it.

Should be the one I talked about in post earlier in this thread. I showed step by step instructions.

also if you do run the crossbreeder you should probably disable
the ad-removal aspect in a terminal. I was seeing "gif89a" weirdness
on some of my apps. disabling clears that up. I use adblock pro anyway for that and it works fine.

Is your phone have usb debugging on in developer options? that should be turned off.

ok the instructions are from 2012 so everything is out of date and the script manager they refer to doesn't exist anymore. its now Smanager and it works as a file manager not so much the script manager. and just saying the site you put up was from 2011 so its definitely outdated and everything has changed. so i was asking the guy above me which method he used since he said he's done it with the Rom.

The instructions are NOT out of date, Smanager is a script manager, NOT a file manager, and I have done it with this ROM.

Question.....

My Triumph died early in May so I've been away. Switched back to my stock LG Optimus V. Took a chance and ordered a couple of batteries and a external charger from china, popped one in and the phone works!

So.... do I need to flash it back to a stock ROM to transfer service back to it? Then go to the latest version here? I do want Google Now installed so I guess I have to use the symlinked gaps?

I'm on the hunt for a moderate priced S3, going to switch to Ting and still get a $25/mo plan, but cheap S3's are few and far between so I guess I'll use the Triumph for a while longer...

Yes. Yes. Yes.

I might want to do something similar. If you do switch, please let us know how it works out.

I finally got around to installing the May 6 build. Here's what I did:

1. Backup
2. Wipe data/factory reset
3. Wipe cache
4. Wipe dalvik cache
5. Install ROM
6. Install symlinked Gapps (I'm not using Google Now but I wanted to try out the symlinked)
7. Flash Touch Kernel #3 (Not sure what, if any, touch kernel is included in this build)
8. Restore my SMS/MMS and apps with Titanium Backup
9. Up and running!

Everything is FANTASTIC! There's still a bit of lag here but it doesn't come close to how bad it was with the April 17 build. In fact, it's barely noticeable at all. Also of note is that the "new" touchscreen drivers make a world of difference. It feels like my phone is brand new again! THANK YOU :) :)

I've used the GPS/Navigation a few times for work and it works flawlessly. As I've noted in previous posts, my phone isn't plagued with the crappy GPS that some MTs seem to have. As with the April 17 build, GPS locks in fast and accurately even when I'm driving on the Interstate.

The one problem I had was documented and solved back on Page 10 of this thread, and that's the terrible backlit settings. Trying to use my phone outside or anywhere with bright lighting was an exercise in futility. I just got done plugging in the backlight settings that Mazer Rackham posted and it seems to have done the trick. It's dark outside now so I won't be able to test it fully until tomorrow, but I could see the difference just by sticking my phone under a bright lamp.

As far as I can tell, everything else works perfectly - or as perfectly as I could hope for. Unless a major breakthrough (i.e. video camera) happens, I can't see any reason why I would ever need to switch from the current build. All in all, I am extremely happy with this ROM now. Kudos to everybody who continues to breathe life into our tired old workhorse of a phone.

i figured it out. go figure i have 2 bad cables in a row. but as for the V6, i'm sorry i looked for step by step and can't find which page is it on? and also, the directions on teh xda site state there is a skull and bones symbol. which is on the old version so thats where i'm hung up on. i can't seem to find the run script as root option anywhere. so i'm just lookin for a little help on every step. whats the difference with V6 and crossbreeder?

Ok, spent the evening tweaking the settings and got most of it set as I want. However at some point something I did eliminated the status bar at the bottom. How do I get it back?

also, when I pulled it up, it was way bigger than the screen. all I saw was the on/off buttons and a portion of the text. Weird.

Where did you get the touch kernal if I may ask?

In the first post, under Installing/Using: click to show content.

You have to select a script to run before you can see the skull and crossbones "Run as Root" icon.

Post 461 a couple pages back, in this thread.

Thanks, thangfish. You answered before I could :-)

A couple additional notes to my previous post:

1. Now that it's daylight I've been able to test out the new backlight settings and the difference is, well, like night and day. I can use my phone in full sunlight and see everything perfectly.

2. I did a quick test of the GPS this morning. While driving at 75mph (Speed limit? What speed limit?) I switched on the GPS and opened Maps. It took about 45 seconds to pick up my location to approx. 1800 meters, and another 10 or 12 seconds to lock it down to within 4 meters. GPS lock in under a minute? I'm happy with that :-) :-)

but as for the V6, i'm sorry i looked for step by step and can't find which page is it on?

I posted it right here. Simplified instructions, step by step.

After getting V6 supercharger to 100% and installing crossbreeder:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113150

The April rom runs perfectly...no lag or touch issues. I'm probably just going to run this until JellyBean is ready as I have no issues as it is now. In fact it's like I got a new phone!!

Didn't it get implanted in the newest build it said updated touch screen just curious if it still needs to b flashed now and ty for quick response

They don't need to be flashed (unless you want to test). They are just slightly different, so bsydz can get some feedback.

Had installed the May 6 version, Google voice, symlinksgaps and version 3 of the the touch screen drivers, and things got really flakey. Web pages took three tries to connect, kept getting unavailable message, apps randomly shut down toward the end no app would function.

wiped the phone and redid it leaving out the ver 3 drivers we'll see how well it operates.

Can't download the test kernel mediafire pops up authorize download wth? I hit authorize and keeps coming back with same screen. Edit - requested desktop and got it

ive been having problems with the May 6 version FFC.... ive tried the clear data reboot several times, and ive reflashed twice. still no luck. Suggestions? for now im going back to the april 17

I noticed some of the lag, and homescreen unresponsive was launcher related.... Apex launcher is terrible on this rom. ... I recommend holo launcher HD its really fast. I would also experience apps radomly open and force close

Yes, it's sad that Apex launcher sucks on this rom, it crawls :(

ADW, however, is very fast

I haven't noticed apps radomly open and force close *yet
