Root [ROM/Kernel] Stock++

I tried installing this again but think I did something wrong but not sure what. Power control widgets like the stock one and Widgetoids were not working, had some issues with the SD card not wanting to mount a few times, benchmark scores were not much higher than stock, and for some reason script manager would not run scripts (I tried the smurfed out stuff). I'm pretty sure I just got an incomplete download or transfer to the SD card since I started seeing can't mount cache errors right away with the new CWM, but I just want to make sure I did all of the steps properly and didn't leave something out or do something wrong.

Any idea what I did wrong if it wasn't just a bad download?

Stop using ROM Manger and just boot into CWM the normal way.

IF we could put a sticky out front of the admire forum
i think

" DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER "

Thats How I got started,

Well crap, it is hard bricked and wont even boot to download mode.
Now what?

put your phone down and read
-cwm and odin link ,
return to stock with cwm ,
then read the op in this thread and install cwm.zip you get there, then finish installing stock ++ as stated there.

Demente755d has got enough links for you to get started.

IF YOU DON"T KNOW ASK! but first put your phone down...........

Hey thats a good Question is there a way to load the new CWM WITH OUT THE OLD CWM VERSION??

i GUESS I'M GONNA GET YELLED AT AGAIN hunh.

GoGGLE IT?

This site is intended for people to share information and help each other. We have all been new at something and we have all been in a position where following another person's advice was needed.

While it is always best to read over all the information available about rooting or installing roms before it is attempted it isn't alright to post something that can cause someone to brick their phone. Either meant as a joke or with malicious intent doesn't matter as the end result can be the same.

Please keep your posts helpful and positive.

Just another Flakito97 post...

So I just installed this, and from the op I assumed that by "ext4 support" that meant that i could have my sd card formatted as ext4. But when I do that, it still says unsupported filesystem, and when CWM formats my sd it formats as ext3.

Did I do something wrong during installation, format it wrong, or simply misunderstand? I am currently formatting the sd card as ext2. Under the impression from other topics that ext2 was better to use than ext3.

EDIT-
Ext2 didn't work either. Currently using fat32 till i can get an answer, since I didn't realize windows 7 couldn't natively mount ext partitions.

This a good score?

I finally figured out a solution. You need to install the latest cwm and kernel, then flash rom, then format data, cache, sd-ext, and wipe the phone, it worked for me!

im not sure if it just me but i cant get this to run. for some apparent reason it says "metro p" then shuts down at boot am i doing something wrong?

>then shuts down at boot
try to connect it to a charger, maybe your phone needs a charge or reflash it.
boot to recovery with vol down, back and power

the batter was charged but i also forgot to mention after it shuts down it boots up again but at the Samsung logo then shuts down and boot up again at the Samsung logo.

yea u got a boot loop, i think you should restore your backup, wipe everything all over again then try installing it

Format the sd card as ext 4 . Via clockwork recovery. Not clock work manager. Its accesed using the power, vol down, and back button method. Go into advanced options AFTER MAKING SURE SD CARD AND SD EXT EXT ARE MOUNTED. Then format them. After that remount then partition the sd card via the menu option. I chose the biggest because my sd card is huge. Now boot your phone. Go to android market and down load "Links2sd" its so easy to use. Follow the instructions via the website or info tab because if you don't know what your doing you can muck it up. By using this program you will be rollin with any app on sd and alot more free space via arm ext-4. This rom is dope and the fastest I've ever had in my life. I use my phone for work , socializing and photos mainly. Props to Req for his work and the forum fire being helpful!
