Root [ROM] MidnightRom: Sense 1.5.4

What's the difference between the Mac kernel in 1.4.1 and the Buttered Toast one in 1.4.0? 1.4.0 is working stable for me so far and I was wondering if it was worth updating. Do I have to do a full wipe if coming from 1.4.0 to 1.4.1 or can I just wipe cache and Dalvik? I'm S-OFF so maybe I can just flash the kernel or have you made other tweaks in 1.4.1?

Well, I was having issues with buttered toast. Like...wifi freezing up and stuff.

Plus, on mac, you can overclock to 1.9 ghz

True, but the last time that I used the MAC kernel undervolting wasn't supported. While I'm OC'ed to 1.566 anything under 540 I like to undervolt for what are probably very minimal battery savings. :p

the new one didnt fix it for me, still bootlooping. wiped all but SD card, HBOOT 1.04 S-off

other roms run fine

From what I've been following on this thread, some others including the OP have reported using HBoots other than 1.57 have been experiencing boot looping issues. Since you're S-OFF you could flash either stock 1.57 or J-Bear 1.57.5757.

FYI, dakman has posted a link for a HBoot that will play nice with this update.

Bootlooping on Hboot 1.04, formatted everything except /sdcard. What could I be doing wrong? Never had any issues with previous builds. Should I clear cache & Dalvik after I flash? Kinda stumped...

From one post above you:

I don't think that's been mentioned... You still need to be on 1.57

my understanding was since the 1.41 fix, the main fix was so it didnt need 1.57 (never did before 1.4)

part of the problem is I like changing ROMS, and backing up the ones I use (I have 1-2 that are gingerbread based) so 1.57 isnt an option

The fix was basically changing the kernel, but that didn't change the 1.57 requirement.
The choice is yours though. You could just swap hboots as needed, wait out and see if this rom gets updated to let you use 1.04 again, or just stick with the older version of this rom.

When I swap Hboots, even after going back to whichever original, my TWRP 2.3.3.x fails on restoring backups. This makes me cry

any one test USB OTG on this rom and this phone? I read some post a while back saying our phones can't support OTG and external drives (HDDs or USB sticks) or ps3 controller. But i see the ps3 controller supported here. I don't have an OTG but I'll buy one if our phone supports it :D

When i use the sixaxis compatibility checker it cant find the drivers for the ps3 controller so i cant use it on this
