Root [ROM] Mik3D - RC1- [10/31/2011]

Ya know, as much as I love this ROM the fact that nothing has been updated on it since it was released is kind of making me rethink going back to MikG. It seems that Mike3D has sort of got lost in the shuffle and I have noticed that performance has waned of late. If the devs dont seem to care about it why run it?

Does anyone still run the other 3D ROM that was out there that was based on this? I downloaded it but never tried it.

aamikam, the developer of the Mik roms, is in school;) So, when he has time, I'm sure he'll get an update out for Mik3D.

Evolved is still being updated but without aamikam doing further development on Mik3D, there won't be much to update
 
I know he is in school, but that hasnt stopped updates for the hybrid 2.1 + 3.0 ROM from coming about. (I assume other devs are helping there) Add in newtoroot doing 3.5 (with tweaks from Mik when he had a free weekend) and it just seems like 3D is irrelevant for the time being.

I read the thread for Evolved on themikmik...sounds like the same issues are still around.

I dunno I might just try out MikG 2.55 and see if I like it. Not like I have to make a decision today :)

Considering MikG is a fully stable rom now and Mik3D is still in beta form, I'm sure there's more that aamikam wants to do with Mik3D. I also read that he was waiting for a release of a phone to help in the development of the rom.

Well one thing's for sure, not any issues with MikG so if you're looking for a rom without any issues or bugs, maybe MikG is the way to go:)
 
I was on MikG in the 2.4s so I know how awesomesauce it is :D I just was hoping by now we would have Beta2 ;)

No matter what though I am loyal to Mik...the guy has been outstanding and the guys at the mikmik are super helpful. C Monster made me a custom lockring in like 5 minutes :)

Me too, hopefully soon!

On a side note, have you tried the 3.5 beta6? I've been running it since it was released I must say, I'm pretty impressed.

It took a bit to get it set up but it's flying now:D No 4G but wifi stays connected so I don't have any issues downloading large roms
 
I want to, I have it ready to flash on my card but the texting issue that seems to come up has me worried. As it is I sometimes have text issues due to my Airvana, and well my friend on AT&T and I seem to lose texts from each other every few days, so adding another text issue (seems to error out when you send a 160+ text) makes me kind of skittish. I follow the thread religiously though on themikmik so I have seen how much it has improved since Alpha.

Now that newtoroot is getting an Evo though I have a feeling in a couple weeks that might be the new one to try. I never use 4G anyways so I dont care about that.
 
Runs okay, but maybe the battery will be better than other Sense Kernels. Thought, why not try every kernel i have available? We will see what happens.

Yeah, this has basically been my daily for a few weeks now. I've tried some others but keep going back to it as I love how it's set up.

I'm going to look for some themes now I think to change it up a little. I am on the RLS1ish version. I never tried the final version as it had some issues and I wasn't sure if I wanted to deal with it. Although I read changing the Kernel to Poon or deleted some script would take care of it.

just thought it was interesting that I can use the FROYO Kernel Netarchy Toastmod SBC on this Mik3D rom. I actually got it up and running the other day and just reflashed again to this ROM/Kernel combo. I wonder if the SBC feature is actually working or the kernel is fully functional with this ROM, but its flashed. Any thoughts?

See picture in above post for proof of the kernel.

check to see if nothing is broken. usually you will have wifi, camera, and maybe even 3g not working or not working well. if it works then that is good to know. report back if you can with any issues.

Okay what I found so far......
1. 3G works (it says 3G at the top atleast)
2. 4G works
3. Hotspot works
4. Camera isnt visible on screen, but does show as picture is taken
5. WIFI not sure, can test
6. Video no bueno

What other tests are there top run??

Does this ROM just run choppy anyway? I used Golden, Chop Suey and Tiamat. They all run similar as choppy. Seems like it takes a second or to to "warm up".
 
Can you guys help me out? The market stopped seeing any of my apps and stopped updating them. I cleared it's cache (didnt work), wiped dalvich and cache still doesnt work. I then uninstalled the app but can't find where to reinstall it.

so i would wipe dalvik cache and cache and re-flash the rom. your data will be ok as long as you do not wipe it. if that does not work then here is a link to the new market:New market .APK (Ver. 3.1.3)
 
This is my daily driver but recently it's been getting choppy and randomly rebooting. I might just need to go back to mikg until this bugs get fixed.
 
Actually I found that didn't help much at all when I was having issues. It wouldnt even give a temporary boost. Actually I ended up fixing it by accident. I flashed Mikg 2.55 yesterday to see if I would like it which I did not. I am just to used to the look of Mik3D I guess because the icons looked huge and things just felt bulky. When I restored my nandroid, it ran super fast, like when I first flashed it.

I remember when I first rooted sometimes people said doing the full wipe and reflashing the Rom is a good idea. Since this Rom is not getting worked on at all (a couple posts on mikmik made it sound doubtful mik will work on this at all instead focusing on 3.5) maybe that is the best plan.
