so i just got twrp 2 via goo manager... couple of questions... 1. now that ive got the recovery in do i still need goo manager? will everything work if i get rid of it or should i just leave it be?.....2. if installing the latest version of this rom do i still need to extract kernal and fastboot flash boot boot.img? and if so would i still have to do that if i was using 4ext? im coming from jmz's stock odex rom and am s-on.

1. i don't know what goo manager is......

2. i never flashed anything with S-ON since i did S-OFF right after i unlocked my bootloader but i assume if you had my Rom previously flashing the Kernel isn't necessary

weird v1.0.4 is the same as v1.0.3 but with new framwork-res.apk and Rosie.apk.bak added it should flash the same it might have been a bad download

* I will consider it an issue if more people say they have the same problem

Edit: wait so v1.0.3 did the same thing?

what is rosie.apk exactly, and what would removing the .bak filename do/possibly break for the rom?

Would be interested to hear from anyone who successfully flashed this with S-On and the steps they took.

I've tried the following:
fastboot into TWRP2
wipe cache/davlik/factory reset
install rom zip successful
adb into bootloader
flash boot.img and then do a reboot

Tried this a few times now and it keeps loading up on the initial htc screen and hanging there. Not sure if I'm just being impatient for it to load up after waiting 12+ minutes?

Of course in the time it's taken me to go through this process I probably could have just got S-off working, haha! I think that' s my project for tonight.

Yeah, which is weird because I had no problem flashing that exact same zip before. Problem with the SD card maybe?

Wonder if I should back up all the files and reformat SD card?

I grabbed some wire wrapped some scotch tape around it, and completed it in about 5 minutes, its worth it, it's easy to do. especially before some update breaks the method they use xD

thanks for a quick response! have never been on your rom so will be flashing kernel, to do this do i have to move the boot.img into my sdk folder as i did when flashing the recovery.img? and what would happen if i flashed the rom without flashing the kernal?

nothing happens, this rom does not need the kernel.

Its the HTC Launcher removing the ".bak" from the name will bring back the Launcher similar to removing the ".bak" from "HtcLockScreen.apk.bak" will bring back the HTC Lockscreen

Edit: Super Ninja'd

Not tested by me:

I would still flash the Kernel since its Rooted and has init.d support which is necessary for some of the mods to kick in

oh haha ill flash the kernel then, thanks

oh, was under the impression it did as second post has the instruction to do so.... ill give it a shot tho, w/ out the kernel, then with if needed... thanks

I do agree with mobster however, I flashed the kernel as well, but it does not NEED it lol

did you do anything recently that might affect that like changing recoveries or flashing something weird / not meant for the Evo V?

HtcLockScreen.apk.bak is not renameable its a locked file, rosie was able to be renamed for some reason.

alright so followed the newb guide ended up on twrp 1.1 with command prompts, flashed rom after backing up and wiping, now ready to flash kernel-- extracted boot.img but where do i put it and what comand do i use to flash it???

Is there any problems with this mod (along the lines of not receiving MMS, texts or camera not working, etc)? Coming from the Triumph a lot of ROMs were missing things like camera or MMS.

Additionally is this ROM running ICS or just a themed Evo 3d rom?
