Just wondering if you guys have problems with the GPS fixing? Sometimes mine won't do it at all or will take a good 8 minutes to fix (which is inconvenient when I get lost on the road). Is it just cause it's the Triumph or Virgn Mobile? Or do you guys have same problem?
Also occasionally (like once a month) my wifi and 3G stops working even after battery pulls or permission fixes, I always wipe and re flash and restore data. Anyone else have that problem?
I use GPS everyday (to play Ingress).
Our gps is indeed slower than most phones, probably due to complete lack of agps support in the Triumph.
My experience shows that agps makes absolutely no difference whether on or off, updated or not. Mine hasn't been updated in over 200 days.
Here's what I do:
I always run GPS Status from the Play store before opening an app that needs GPS.
This app shows the satellites being received. Wait for lock (always about 2 min from cold start).
This has shown that occasionally (maybe once or twice a month) no satellites are being received. I don't know what causes this, but a toggle of GPS via notification button fixes it.
In this case, I believe an app may never get a lock.
So, when I start GPS Status, if I don't see a couple satellites show up within about 5 sec or so, I toggle GPS off for about a 5 count, toggle it back on and then I'll see some immediately. Wait for a lock (GPS Status will show a toast with seconds to lock) and THEN launch Ingress (or navigation or whatever). Usually takes 2 min cold. Warm, it's never more than 1 min, and many times just a few seconds.
There is no point in enabling agps update in GPS Status.
I use this procedure several times daily, and it hasn't failed me yet.
