Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM9 build 20130120 [BETA]

Removing Apollo off ics custom Rom is a big mistake, and replacing Apollo with a regular android mp3 player is ridiculous.
Apollo keeps music in Calgary
Apollo keeps you update with artiest album cover and art.
Please keep Apollo on, and keep it one hundred!!!!
Thanks again devs, for ya all hard work.

Apollo was removed cause it causes some functions to become un responsive or unusable, I forget exactly what it was tho

If you wanna keep the Apollo, you can just pull the APK from an older versions zip

I've been wondering, every time that I do a wipe and install the updated rom, my touch sounds and keyboard sounds play but as soon as I sign in it to google it mutes and I can't get it to come unmute. Has this been an issue at all with anyone?

Outcome - Permissions fixed gps and also touch screen being more responsive (those not having issues did not do a full wipe). Clock speeds helped with major stability in ROM. Also GPS is now increased in lock speed. NOTE: GPS will lock but unlike CM7 the gps icon does not blink in the center. The only time the center will show up is when it locks. It took me about 30 seconds to lock indoors, and I was not near a window.

Hey, I appreciate this explanation... Nice to get a few details.

@Ryder,
care to elaborate on the clock speed issue?

I will LOL. Based on our kernel clock speeds, our permissions also need to be the same as the kernel. When I merged with x6 fb0 it changed the clock speeds so Ryder fixed my screw up :D:D:D

Edit: I will be posting these little snippets with each update on what it really fixed.

flash in recovery for google now :) i dont take credit. im not 100% sure if its completely working. i myself am testing this as im typing this. so far its going great!

So I went a couple pages back and tried the link and it is down :(. Just about to flash this new CM9er on ol' Triumph and play around before work. Any other alternatives or is this one the only working one?

did eventually get a gps lock today on the 9/13 build. It does not flash, but it did eventually lock on in Google maps.

GPS now works great. to get it to lock for the first time I had to run GPS Timer, which took about 56 seconds to get a lock. but after I ran that anywhere gets a lock with in 3-5 seconds. Great Work!! love it!

also something I've noticed about both of the Motorola Triumphs I've had (not sure if its an issue with these phones or roms) but the lights for the touch buttons seams to have a bit of a flicker to it, you can't always see it when the phone is perfectly still, but if you even move the phone slightly the lights seam to almost have a strobe effect.

Thanks man, appreciate it alot. I tried another one of MikeyXDA's files but i haven't installed it yet but the page you sent me seems more specific and helpful. Thank you again and for all you are doing for this, in all reality, could-potentially-be-better phone. :smokingsomb:

Just follow those instructions and you shouldnt have a problem. Most important thing is making room for it.

GPS is working great in this build. Thanks!

I have also been having proximity issues akin to those seen in earlier CM7 builds. Proximity works when in a call but screen takes too long to come back on when pulling the phone away to hang up.

Is anyone else having issues with the Mms.apk sending texts over 160 characters? I think I did, but I'm not sure...regardless I recompiled the apk to manually split the texts...if anyone else has this issue I can upload it...

"strobe" isn't a bad description.
You see that's the only way you can dim an led; by cycling it on and off at a defined frequency, with defined on and off times. you can't just turn down the juice like you do when dimming an incandescent bulb. The effect is sometimes visible when moving the device.

Yeah I did what someone else said earlier in the thread and flashed it after installing the ROM and it works great. Much better than she-who-will-not-be-named. And sounds more human-like and it is running perfect. Made a call and did a couple searches. No problems yet but I will install Logcat or look up how to do it correctly just in case I do run it nto any. I don't wanna just post without proof.

Man you guys are powering through with these fixes and keeping new builds up faster than anything i have seen on here...no one can deny your dedication...i and im sure our other triumph owners thank you for all your work...great job!

No question, this is my new favorite ROM! Greeeeat job guys, looks amazing and functions just the same. I've yet to truly feel the missing camera to be honest, enjoying it anyway!

I do have the problem of losing root though. I've reinstalled SU, tried updating it (fails), even went into terminal emulator and as soon as you type in sudo, it says it can't be found so I'm at a loss. What can I do to regain root?

EDIT: Seems like it works so long as you don't update SuperUser. I uninstalled the updates to it and it now works for whatever reason.

Try downloading Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip from the superuser site which is the latest release candidate I believe then reboot into recovery, wipe caches, and install the zip. Works great for me.

It helps if you have a team or just doing it your self.MTDEV is a team of six people who have Triumphs and want them to be awesome too!

Can't wait to flash this new rom, just gotta root first :(

No Root needed. Our phones have an unlocked boot loader. You just need to have a custom recovery. I recommend ClockworkRecovery (see the stickies for a rundown), other people use TWIRP. Rooting happens on the post boot side of things. You would need to Root if you wanted to use root apps on the stock ROM. Our ROM comes pre-Rooted. You just need to update the binaries in Super User.

No way! OK, so I think I follow you. I had an Optimus V before this phone, so its easier then the OV?
