Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM9 build 20130120 [BETA]

It has been a while since I have visited a forum regularly. I can't help but look everyday to see whats new! I am really glad this is happening. Thanks MTDEV Team!!!

Wifi not working !!!!!!

Did you reboot the phone? Once you install the ROM you need to reboot it once for wifi to work. It's in the OP

POST INSTALL:
Once you have booted up, please reboot your phone so WiFi will work properly.

thx alot g60 and all the other devs, even though my MT is not my daily driver anymore, i still like to keep it up to date and use it as a media player and TV streamer(TWC)..and since it has ICS now i can stream the livew tv app for TWC :)

I hate to keep popping in here about losing root (really do, you guys are busy with plenty more than JUST root), but I can't figure out what on earth is causing it! I've upgraded, I've uninstalled updates, I've tried 'sudo' via terminal emulator for the root commands and it says 'not found'. I'm going to try a full on root method and see if it works.

Let me add that it seems to lose it over time I think. Sometimes Titanium Backup works just fun, others it can't get access. It's also causing a few of my Tasker profiles to fail to run. I'm trying Gingerbreak, will see if it helps.

Having GPS enabled should not impact battery life unless you're actually running an application that turns on the GPS receiver (Navigation, Endomondo, etc). Basically, if you don't see the GPS icon active in the task tray it's not using battery power.

really?

Beautiful! Now I don't have to be jealous of my father's Razr with ICS, though a working camera would be great.

Great job, and I can't wait for more bugs to be worked out.

Under Terminal Emulator it's not sudo, it's 'su' then just 'enter'

How did you get the twc app to work? I get the rooted device error.
you have to use ES File Explorer or Rom toolbox to change root app names and rename SuperUser.apk to SU.apk in the Root/System/Apps folder... changing the name DOESNT unroot your device

Rom Tool Box..>Tools>Root Browser>System>App> rename superuser.apk
then reboot

Anyone tried wifi tether? I am using wifi tether with mss clamping enabled and it's not work for me, tried reboots etc, any one else tried?

Other than that the latest version is great, battery life is improved!

Any updates for anybody trying to get Google Now? I've tried several ways. Most end up with it installing from a zip and I access it but before I could really do anything it force closes.

Yes, enabling GPS doesn't actually turn the GPS on full time - it just allows other programs to turn the GPS on and off as needed. Disabling GPS just stops programs from being able to turn GPS on. If you don't see the GPS icon in the notification tray then GPS is not on.

To expand on what Inc0gnit0 said. It's on standby. That, orientation sensors, sync and some other stuff. Well, sync isn't a harware component, but I leave it on and turn off data instead.

Probably means you flashed it but didn't make enough room for it first. A few pages back someone posted a link that will give you all the information you need. Been running it flawlessly for a while now :)

Which way did you go about doing it? I think you may be right about not having enough space. If thats the issue how would i make more space? What would i delete?

To be totally honest I'm not sure lol it was a lot of trial and error of my own accord. I'm sure it's not too hard to find exactly what apps and such are safe to remove. I wouldn't recommend my approach of just removing things that didn't "look" important. Sometimes I get a little carried away with how resilient this phone is and start getting ahead of myself.
I believe g60 posted the link for the now project over at xda not too far back in this thread, it's very informative so anything you need to know will probably be in there somewhere.

Couple more issues I found:

Wifi doesn't auto-connect

Data spends more time as 1x vs 3G. Dunno if this is something specific to this build, however it seems to have been happening since flashing to this from CM7

Thanks for all the hard work!!!!

yup wifi trouble's here too bigtime!

Quick question. My motorolla triumph, running CM7, locks up ALL the time - such that i have to remove the battery to reset it. Other times it will just reboot on it's own when it hangs on opening the browser. I notice my memory info says its using 120mb/353 available MB.

So my question is - is low RAM usage normal and if i upgrade to the latest version of CM9 as discussed in this forum, should i see some performance boost?

thanks for your hard work

I'm doing some testing on something, so I can't check. I thought there was an option built-in in the CM settings menu. If so, could you post back?

Massive thanks to all who spent time and effort creating this Rom!
My LG OV died, bought a used Triumph, spend a while reading up on rooting, flashing, etc... (I have never done anything with the old phone).

Superb experience. No glitches, no hangs, no fixing required. Done step-by-step with the up to date releases and manuals, I had ZERO problems whatsoever.

Like many others, I will miss 1-2 features but compared to the old factory phone, this is fantastic.
