Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM9 build 20130120 [BETA]

None zip, zilch.

Installed this, wow, feels like a new phone. Much better performance and I think I can live without the camera for now.

Issues:

- phone locks up/stalls for a second, usually between switching apps.
- Battery life seems to be worse than CM7.
- Also is it possible to change the email to inverse the colors like CM7?

I will be donating some dollar today, thank you!

I've noticed that wifi can be flaky on this build. I have times where if the phone's screen turns off for a bit, the wifi will drop and all have to turn off and on wifi in the menu to get everything working again.

It seems to be fixed if I go into the advanced wifi settings and always leave wifi on, but that obviously gives me quite a bit of a hit on battery life.

The next build will be a lot better. I am working on revamping the whole code, and device files from ground up. It's going to take a lot of time, but hopefully my efforts will pay off!

I dont want to nag, im a developer also and i dont want to ask this question because i know how much i hate being asked this question, but i am going to anyways because i want to know, lol

Are you making any headway with the camera issue?

When I try I receive a "server error". I have tried reflashing the ROM multiple times and can sync gmail, but not the calendar or contacts.

Any suggestions?

I have gotten as far as the cameraHAL actually loading. However still no dice. Since I am revamping the whole code and device files hopefully I will get them to work.

Got into Apps < Settings < Play Store < Stop application < Wipe Cache

See if that works,

I agree with your decision G60 to stand back from CM10 until it stops changing so much. It's better to continue perfecting CM9 and get a better "product" that way than to try to offer half of something more advanced that is still changing so much. Perhaps once the camera is working, you guys could figure out how to get Google Now to work reliably with the current builds. Not being pushy....just saying. Again wish I could help with the coding/and or donating money, but now is not the time for either. Good Luck and am looking forward to future updates. Thanx for all your hard work thus far!:D:D:D

The big issue with google now is it needs more space. The problem is it's hard to limit more out of the ROM. I might be able to squeeze a few more megs out but will have to see. I have been thinking of using the hidden partition to load it in where our normal crap apps from VM used to go in froyo (facebook, explorer, twitter, Virgin Mobile apps, etc) it's possible by installing it there, and symlinking the objects back the OS it may work. Right now it's on the back burner but know I am aware of it. Right now the focus is revamping the code and seeing if I can't fix more of the issues the camera of course being the most important!

Sorry, I've been almost trapped in CM7 doing some tests. I'll look into it tonight and post back. I could of sworn that it was intergrated into CM9, but that may have been only on mantera's version. If so, it shouldn't be hard to replicate the work and port it over.

Edit: I looked into it and it's not there. I thought it was, maybe it was an earlier release? I'll put this on my "to look into" list.

you are using the wrong gapps.

I've had the same question about the carrier name. Is there a way to do this without a computer since I don't have one? Also, g60, I've always used MIUI as my daily. After using CM9 for a few days I loved it and it's now my new daily. Thank you for the awesome work!!

use DroidEdit to edit the xml file. then follow the instructions to use es explorer to put the file in place. Don't use it as a flashable zip as a zip created from the android would likely fail.

I might of figured it out. I have snagged the parts from mantera's CM9 and puked it in ours. I'm building it now and if it works well merge it in to the main part of the ROM. Might be on the next build.

I think it will be in the next build. Maybe? I still am not sure what may have been changed with the new menu. If I get time, I'll load the two ROMs and look around.

I Love this Rom But only one thing is just killing me...How on earth do i change the carrier name! The Old Zip was made for the other CM9 Rom..n i have tryed flashing that carrier changer zip file but it does not work with this CM9 :(...SO Can Anyone help me ? :)

C'mon Dude, let the devs work on the important stuff and not bother with vanity requests.

Isn't asking questions kinda the point? The devs build the ROM (which is greatly appreciated) but rely on us to ask questions and to report what's working and what's not. Without us asking questions, how would the devs get feedback? It's called a "community" ;)

Sorry double post but have you tried the process suggested by jfinnigan about the carrier change? The zip along with DroidEdit worked great for me. :)
