Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM9 build 20130120 [BETA]

Thank you so much.... this is awesome. Now quick question....how many times faster is this phone over my old OV that I had overclocked to like 806mhz?

I'll let you figure that one out on your own. There are way too many factors that come into play to properly answer that question.

But its safe to say yes right lol, do we have more RAM?

I think the two phone have the same amount of RAM. Which means the MT has less because of a bigger RAMdisk. But, the MT is faster in every way except GPS. Then you have to have a custom ROM that makes our phone better, then it should be faster. I don't know. No one has made a test and reported it yet.

I was going to grab the new HTC Evo V but snagged this for only $139.99 :)

What version of CWM am I supposed to use to flash this rom? And also for the Google Apps, do I just flash those after the ROM gets done flashing?

Any version of CWM will work. I have used 5.0.2.7 and currently using Mantera's 5.5.0.4. However Bsydz just updated it to 6.0.1.2. Since my car ate my phone I can't flash that right now.

As for gapps, just install it after the install of the ROM and reboot.

I've been using the update since it was posted (the latest) and my battery life has changed phenomenally for the better! Not sure if that was on purpose, but it still made a huge impact, thanks so much for the update!

I have noticed two bugs after the recent update..

one is the SMS aren't automatically spiting after 160 char like it should. and there are no settings to enable it. only work around that I know of right now is to force it to send as an MMS after 1 text length

second issues I've had with the most recent update is cellular connection drops, I will be in the same area with out moving where I was getting service and all the sundden my phone will have an X on the signal with the R for roaming.. all I have to do is restart and it comes right back until it has the issue again but it won't fix without a restart which leads me to believe its a software issue.

other than that this rom is by far the best thanks for all the work. can't wait for the Camera!! hehe

Oh, you ran the car door mod? I thought that one was a dead mod.

Airplane mode should take care of anything that is fixed with a reboot, signal wise.

I see an option right there. Does yours have that?

I know that chairshot was working on some libraries specificly for better life. Maybe he can chime in on that.

no the stock sms app in this rom does not have a split sms option right now. the airplane mode doesn't seam to fix my signal issues, only a reboot.

Edit: Airplane mode does seam to fix my signal issues now, hopefully the next updates fixes the signal issues..

Thanks,
Jason

After explicitly fixing permissions, updating to the latest version, and fixing permissions a second time for safety, the GPS works, responsiveness is improved, proximity sensor functions correctly, and battery life is simply outstanding.

Yesterday, I was on battery for 17 hours and had 43% remaining. Today I noticed 3.5 hours with 90% remaining. Currently on 5.5 hours with 83% remaining. I do use tasker to manage my phone, but if the numbers are correct, I have never seen the MT perform this well. Almost don't even need the high capacity battery I am still waiting to receive.

Keep in mind, I have not been using the phone like I normally would during the week for these recently recorded stats. Still, my MT has never seen battery life like this, especially with GPS enabled and wifi on.

All I need is a functional torch to be a 100% happy camper. But, if the torch becomes functional, that means I'll be looking forward to CM10!

All MT devs, thanks for keeping at it this long. This phone has recently been shining bright, like it should have on launch day. The only people we can thank for this are you.

Right now I'm testing a kernel and I want to do it for about a week (looking for normal usage), otherwise I would load This ROM and look at it. I sometimes forget what thread I'm in:o my bad. That was from CM7.

There were a bunch of changes in the new mms.apk. I'm not sure it will be easy to find. Did you try to send a message that was over 160 characters and it switched to MMS?

Okay so I'm still having wifi trouble with this rom even after rebooting it immediately after booting up the first time. It works for the first connection but then when I try to turn it on it reboots my phone. Is anyone else having this issue or am I not doing something right?

Holy crap this is amazing. Makes my triumph feel like a newer phone :) How close are you to the camera? Thanks for all the work on it!

I am still working on it. It's not as easy to solve as I would hope as Google changed the way the camera talks to the OS. Right now as it stands I believe Mantera has patched all the proper kernel settings for our 2.6.32 kernel to work. Before I wasn't sure but it looks like all the proper pmem settings have been ported in along with the kgsl updates from 3.0. As it's stands it's a matter of finding the proper driver and the proper CameraHal container to make it work. I spent a lot of time this weekend researching but I am going to need to spend more time on it. I was going to move on to CM10 and just work on that but since there is so many issues with the ROM in terms of hardware not working I think it's best to work on CM9 as almost everything is working in the ROM.

However to answer your question I am not sure how close I am or how far I am overshooting. Sadly no one has really spent any time documenting what needs to be done to get this to work properly. Everyone says they did this our that, and a lot of the developers do not post their fixes on github or even share their fixes.

Having GPS enabled should not impact battery life unless you're actually running an application that turns on the GPS receiver (Navigation, Endomondo, etc). Basically, if you don't see the GPS icon active in the task tray it's not using battery power.

Oh because I always thought that by it being activated it was using battery because it stays locked on a satellite.

Great work dev's!

Just awaiting the camera fix for this, I have money to donate.

Stupid question but whats the response from Motorola on getting the required files/documentation for the camera?

None zip, zilch.

I think you are doing a great job. I just need to wait until the camera is fixed. I have to make online deposits using the camera for both Bank of America and Chase banks.
