Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM9 build 20130120 [BETA]

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but the sound on my phone randomly will go down a lot, and only a restart seems to fix it. I'm talking everything; media, alarms, ringtones, etc. I'll lock it for a bit, and when I come back to it the sound is at an unhearable volume. Is there any known fix for it?

That is a known issue with this phone, every rom that I know of has that probally (maybe even the stock? I never tried it)

There's no official fix for it but there is a work around. This is what I do on my phone.

I notice that everytime when I have sound on, whenever I get notification or phone ring, my volume becomes really low. Yes. Including ring, notification, music, etc. So, here's what you do.

-If you are in vibrate or silent mode, turn the sound on.
-Call any number and let it dial for 5 seconds. (I call international random number so that I don't get charge and the phone doesn't dial. It just stays in dialing screen but nothing happens.)
-Then end the call. You'll hear the end call sound. A loud beep than normal.
-Your volume is back to normal.
-Go back to silent mode. (Staying in silent mode keeps your volume normal)

Note - If you don't hear loud beep when you end the dummy call or if your volume didn't set back to normal, try again and keep the dialing screen on longer than last time.

This fixes everytime for me especially on the car when I have it connected to my car stereo.

So, to make the camera work, we have to write the code from scratch or use the dummy C++ source code that is posted on xda developer site and write the source code by ourselves? Yikes! Other than that, this is a really stable ROM.

Getting a lot of reboots whenever I start some games, any idea why?

When you install the ROM did you clear dalvik cache? Also format system/data/cache?

I am still working on the camera. After more research we have a handful of devices that are very similar hardware wise to our phone. Will see if I can get lucky and get us a working camera, or even partial. Right now I am working on using code for the zuesc which is the Sony Xperia and has a fully working version of CM9. Can't make any promises but will see what I end up.

Camera driver for CM9 is in system\lib\hw folder?

Correct in ICS/CM9 Google changed where the camera libs go. In ICS/CM9 what happens is there is a HALWrapper that gets built around the camera lib to create a \lib\hw\camera.device_name.so

The problem is we have yet to get our wrapper to work. To give you a little history here is how the story goes..

Once upon a time in a land far far away there was two developers that where working on CM7 TickerGuy and Issacj. They worked and worked trying to solve the camera using our stock Motorola libs but nothing seemed to work. Then one day TickerGuy ended up using the libcamera.so, liboemcamera.so, libmmjpeg.so and libmmipl.so from our Cherry Mobile sister phone and pow we had a working camera. Tweaks where made to both kernel and also device files to get it to work and working camera we had.

Time moves on in the land of development and mantera takes the lead on ICS/CM9 tons of other devs get involved but still no dice. Our sister phone the x6 finally has a break through and they now have a working camera using the Sharp GB libs and tjstyle who figures out the HALWrapper using code from dzo who develops on the x5 gets it working.

So now the problem is then and now our phone does not play nice with the Sharp camera libs so we have nothing at all to work with. We have tried the code from tjstyle but nothing works with our libs. We have tried updating our kernel from tjstyle but nothing works. So now we are still working on it trying to make it happen, but still nothing yet. What sounds like an easy task has proven effort after effort of fail. The current ROM is the closes we have gotten in terms of the HALWrapper working but it still does not work.

Right now I am working on revamping our device files, and trying to follow in the footsteps of the Xperia but so far I have yet to get the code to build with out error. What this is going to take is just more work and more time and hopefully we can solve the problem.

That's OK G60 You guys are doing an awesome job cutting down the mighty oak tree with the little hatchet you have. Not implying that your deving skills are lacking! Just saying that without all the source code, you guys have a big job. I have gone as far as finding a splash screen for the Ideos x6 and it just happens to be for ICS. Perhaps you could put it in the next build? If I could it without ruining the appearance of the phone, I would take the Moto stuff off and replace it with the Huawei name and logo as well

I'm gonna look into Chinese android ICS version ROMs. Maybe their sloppy codes can somehow be useful.

The second part of my statement above was simply to say that I think it is lousy that Moto won't even allow the phone to be updated. If the Triumph is technically a Huawei x6 why didn't Virgin just brand it that way and release it for sale? :D

i have hope that were gonna get it working, and even if we never do youve still done wonders for us, youve helped us out so much, cm7 is amazing, cm9 even without the camera is fantastic, whatever you do in the future g60, as well as the whole mtdev team ;), youve helped me out more than i could have ever asked for, thanks MTDEV, big things coming in future, only matter of time

From what I have seen, the phone is really a template from foxconn. They make all kinds of electronics from parts in many computers to whole devices. I don't think our phone is a rebranded x6, but a foxconn board with some parts attatched to it. If you look at some of the inner files you will see a bunch of stuff with the name foxconn in it.

Just think of it as a car, we have the j35 V-6 engine from a Honda Oddysey in the Saturn Vue. It's not a rebranded Honda. It's a Saturn with Honda parts.

I flashed the beta and it was working great. I did something and now I don't have a market anymore. I flash back to mod 7 and no market too and didn't even asked to signing to Google account. I can't even look at my contact because I can't signing in due to no verification. Anyone know what I did?

Yes dsmryder, but other than the rear camera, an x6 and the Triumph look a lot alike. A Saturn Vue looks nothing a Honda Oddysey!:D Just saying
