Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM9 build 20130120 [BETA]

10/13/2012
∙ Added back stock menu under Settings < System

Gang this will be the last update until I get the camera working. I am rolling back the code to complete 100% stock and adding in our device files. The plan is to focus on the camera and get that working, and then slowly add in our changes (audio, gps, 3g, etc). This process may take some time but I think will prove the best route to go. I have an itching feeling that all the old CM7 camera edits maybe causing the problem with the camera as CM9 has changed so much but figure it's best to start from a clean slate. Stay tuned!

Texts over 160 characters send, but are not received by the other person...I fixed it by decompliling the Mms.apk and change the mms config xml, adding this line:

Code:
<bool name="enableSplitSMS">true</bool>

So I guess you could change your overlay as far as a source code fix goes...
Thanks for all your work MTDEV and G60!

Thanks man I will add this into the code for mms!

Thats amazing news g60, thanks so much, you literally change mine as well as this whole community's lives, along with the MTDEV team :)

Thanks man :) I got the first build done and it's even faster and the video is even better than the latest release. Right now camera, 3g, wifi, gps, and headset do not work but bluetooth is so fast it's nuts you push the button and it's on and it connected in mere seconds to my device. Also we have back the old recent apps look as we are back to the stock code. Mantera made changes to this to give it more of a 3d look when holding down the home button. I prefer the stock look myself as it's the same in Jelly Bean.

Oh also I have back Apollo and it seems to be running flawless right now so I will probably keep this in the ROM unless people prefer the stock music player.

Hey g60. I lost my data connection on my Triumph and I can't seem to get it back with any ROM or any APN settings. Where should I be looking for this? Can you help me if you got time? Thanks in advanced.

This is what I've been using to try and restore. It seems to be the same. No data connection at all. I can make calls and SMS. But no 3G/1X. VM doesn't know how to solve this either.

I checked APN with APN Manager and there's no Virgin Mobile APN. There are a bunch of other APNs. So, I made VM APN and still no luck. Phone is in RPC_Debug_Mode and can't change to Release_Mode in DbgcfgTool.

What happens if you install the MTDEV unroot ROM?

Personally I think Apollo is slick and I'd like to see it on the next from, tho I know there are others that don't feel that way. Nonetheless, here's to the camera being functional sometime soon. I check this thread several times a day in anticipation; maybe I need to get a life haha

Same result. If I install any Froyo ROM, it's the same. If I install CM7, APN shows up as Virgin Mobile but no connection still. Same in CM9. Did all clean installs. Wiped everything.

Even on stock ROM, activation doesn't work anymore. 1x icon doesn't come up when I go to activation.

I flashed the CM9 ROM on my MT last night. I was using CM7 Starship ROM previously (I've tried most of the ROM's for the MT). This build is excellent. It runs super smooth and fast...better than this phone has ever done before. I noticed the flashlight app won't work, which I assume is because it's part of the camera apparatus. I was very hesitant to try CM9 b/c of the camera issue (I love taking pics), but I have great faith that you guys will get it fixed ;) Again thanks for the awesome ROM.

Hi, I want to thank you folks for an excellent ROM. It is a lot faster than the old CM9 that I was running. Great job!

I did have the problem with superuser not working properly reported by a number of users here. I did solve it by using CWM to flash an update of superuser. I then updated the binary. This seemed to fix the problem.

I noticed a minor problem with a setting in the System Settings>Wifi>Advanced>Keep Wi-fi on during sleep>. The last option is: Never (increases data usage). If "Never" means wifi is never on when the phone is sleeping, wouldn't this mean that data usage would go down? In any case, when I use this option, the wifi disconnects when it sleeps as it should. However, when it wakes, it does not reconnect though. The phone seems to think that it is still connected because it does not even have the option of reconnecting. I had to turn wifi off and then on again to reconnect to the wifi connection.

I also did not notice any increase in volume.

In general, I found this to be great ROM. There are fewer lags than with the previous version of CM9 I had installed.

Thanks.

Loving it so far.

I have found an annoying sound issue though. The volume randomly goes really low, even when turned up to the highest. A reboot restores normal volume. Anyone else seen this?

Thanks MTDEV for all your hard work!

I would recommend at least trying it out. The fact the Camera doesn't work is holding back a lot of users which is understandable even I miss my camera. As it stands the camera is my only focus right now. So much so that I am going to start from completely stock code and see what I can end up. The camerahal drivers are working properly from what I can tell but it looks to be an overlay issue based on multiple searches. So back to the grind! :D

Sounds great. I'll probably load up the rom sometime tonight since I don't have my phone with me at this moment. Primarily, I want to have or less a congruous experience between my phone and tablet. Gingerbread feels a little clunky after a while. The camera is the only thing that's holding me back a bit, but I don't use it too often, just to take the odd picture here and there.

I thought the previous version had fixed the volume issues (usually when getting a notification) but it looks like its back.

Also the new 3D app switch isn't as efficient as CM7, little icons > scrolling thru windows!

Keep in mind that Apollo intercepts all Bluetooth headset commands, even when another app is assigned control of the Bluetooth headset buttons.

Also noticed something strange here that didn't happen on CM7. Launching Google Earth appears to make the phone reboot. G60, can you confirm this? Also the GPS is still inaccurate on CM9 and CM7, possibly due to all the permissions changes as of late. Just giving feedback here. Fix this if you can when you have time. No pressure man. :)

No, because any time your phone needs to use a data connection it will use your data plan if Wi-Fi is turned off. When Wi-Fi is turned on all data access goes through Wi-Fi hence saving data usage. Google should probably clarify that since they don't mean data in the general term, but specifically the data usage on your phone plan that is being counted by your phone provider (VM). They use a similar terminology under the GPS setting and warn you that if you turn it on it will decrease your battery life, which is not completely true - it's only true when you have an application actively using GPS. Having GPS enabled in the Settings does not turn GPS on - it just allows applications to activate GPS. It would be nice if Google gave more clear definitions in some of those warnings.

Loving the update! I haven't overclocked or tweaked anything, just to see how it will run when fresh. So far, so good. Thanks to MTDEVGODS for their continued blessings.

-a humble mortal

:adore:
