Hey dsmryder, I have tried to install Ubuntu 64 bit on a separate HDD and my external USB HDD and neither of them would boot...I can't figure out why. When I boot, I have to MANUALLY point to my primary HDD which has my Windows 8 on it. The windows bootloader comes up and I pick Ubuntu. It reboots, then just refuses to boot and bootloops until I pull out either of the HDD's then it'll boot right into Win 8. If I try to just boot from ubuntu, it'll bootloop. The farthest I can go is just a command shell. I have an HP Pavilion....and quite frankly I never had a harder time messing with the bios just to get the damn thing to boot from CD. I'm pretty fed up and I'm about to just see if I can use ZorinOS instead of ubuntu. Would that work?
The simplest way I know to install Ubuntu is with Ubi. It's a loader that works through Windows and would love to install on an external HDD.
