Root [ROM][PORT] Sharp ROM 2.2.2 for the Triumph (Updated: 12/16/12)

I just got a Triumph and loaded the current rom and everything is fine... except that the voicemail fix doesn't work.

I tried replacing com.android.phone_preferences.xml with multiple programs, including TWRP, Androice Commander, Root Explorer and ES File Explorer. I was able to copy the file every time. Then, once I booted the phone again, it reverted to the previous file!

No matter what I do, I can't get it to stop saying *86 is voicemail. Any ideas?

Well, I tried it again and it seems to work now. I'm not sure how the problem appeared, so I;m not sure how it went away.

Anyway, thanks for an excellent rom that gives a much-needed boost to this phone.

What's up everybody? I just updated the first post with Ver8. It is basically the same as the Ver8 test 2 with a couple tweaks.

The Sharp ROM Ver7 has almost hit the 1500 download mark, I never woulda thought this little project would go so far.
Thanks everybody for the feedback and testing, I couldn't have done it without you guys.

Enjoy!

Thanks for all your efforts and hard work!

It's been pretty quiet around here, I guess that is due to the fact that your ROM just simply works. No gripes, no bugs that are really annoying, just a good solid Rom.

Well done!

I've actually moved on to the S2. I passed the Triumph off to my son. Thanks for all your hard work on this ROM BSydz and everyone who supported the development.

I want to change the boot animation, ive tried bac pro but it cant find the location of the zip. When i enter it, it still does not change it. Any suggestions?

It will have to be done just like stock. I know there are a few threads around here that cover the process. I am pretty sure it is in the hidden partition, but it's been a while since I messed with it.

Are there any plans to get the tethering fix to be built in and permanent, either here or on the U9000 ROM? I'm still at 2 or 3 versions back, but the phone works solidly. I'll be waiting for the version that has activation, and the tethering fix where it sticks permanently. My wife has a Triumph too, and I'd like to "fix" her's too. I've never used the U9000 ROM. It is a lot more like the stock ROM isn't it? I'd probably use that one, especially for her's. She's not one for change, and for remembering how to run the tethering fix. I had jailbroken her iPad to change its MTU, but I just un-jailbroke it to update IOS for some bug fixes. She HATES her iPad!

i have used the u9000 rom specefically for the tether it works i may have had to use bsyds fix in first post i dont remember but it always stuck for me

BTW, anyone interested in why Sharp's ROM lacks Google's apps, there's a whole story behind it. There's this article in MIT Technology Review, "Android Takes Off in China, But Google Has Little to Show for It."

Great ROM! Increased internal stock phone memory from 24mb to 797 mb. Everything works great. Love panoramic on camera. Having problem with Voice mail Fix Instructions.

Voicemail Fix Instructions: (7/5/12)
Thanks to wsimon

1. Install es file explorer or equivalent, that can use root privilege, from the market. In es file explorer press menu, go to settings, all the way down enable "Root Explorer" and "Mount File System". Then go back and press favorites and select the phone. You should be good from there.

I can enable root explorer and Mount file system. But then I get lost. Go back to where? I can't seem to find "Favorites" or the "Phone" where I can make the modifications.

Terry..go back to es file explorer where you see your android, DCIM etc folders. On top of the folders you will see a blue star button called favorites. Its the very first button in that row. Once you select it chose phone.

CYTA-I was using a different file manager that didn't have a favorites button. When I downloaded and opened ES File Explorer all worked great. Thanks

I gave my Triumph to my son. I did the phone swap online. How can I program it since I can't use the ##VIRGIN# code?

EDIT: I just used the b randon stock rom and am able to get into the NAM programming now. I'll just have to re-install the Sharp rom after. Maybe I'll put Version 8 on and check it out.

Flashed this to repurpose the Triumph as an old game ROM player on my TV. Not getting any audio out through HDMI but the video is fine. Tried multiple apps, still no audio. Anyone else get this?

Thanks for building this rom bsydz. This is the first rom iv'e put on my triumph, and i'm mostly happy with it; its more responsive + battery lasts more than 30 minutes. I'm still having a few problems though. I get lag and a restart at least once a day, and (possibly unrelated) app crashes sometimes. What's the development status on this? Are there "better" mt roms out there with active development?

If you did a factory reset after wiping both the cache and Dalvik cache before installing the rom; then the rom should be very stable.... Check to see if the recovery you used is compatable with it. If it is then it's possible that one of the apps you put on causes it to go rouge and crash or re-start. Some of the latest updates of some apps may no longer be supporting 2.2.2 froyo which is what the Sharp rom is. Do you remember what app you last installed before your first reboot? You might try uninstalling apps that you can save with something like Titanium backup.... I'll maybe go back to using the sharp rom it since it was so nice to use when it first appeared. Stability was not an issue and my phone could go a month or more without a crash, lock up or reboot....and that's with lots of apps added too ....If I ever want to use HDMI from the phone then i would go back to a clockworkmod backup I have of the latest Sharp Rom for the Triumph by BSydz. The Sharp launcher that comes with it I happened to love and it is fast and responsive...

I currently use the 2.3.7 CM 7 dated March 3, 2013 and except for no HDMI it works great.... I replace the launcher with the Holo HD launcher which I find to be smoother and more touch responsive usually. There are many stable and good roms out there....Anything with 5 stars should blow away the stock rom once your phone is activated.... Just install one app at a time and check for stability afterword. Allow ample time for a complete first boot after installing a new rom and do a reboot for good measure. Hope some of this helps.....;)

I flashed this rom after being told it was smoother than one I was using. Love it but miss some things from other rom so question is, is there a way to add screen shot to power menu, long press back to kill app and volume button to wake up screen? Or is there a rom I can use that has those and working video recorder?

The short answer is yes it can be done, but it ain't easy. It takes knowing where to look, and what to modify. Have you tried CM7?
