Root [ROM] Sleipnir v2.4.0.5 - 10/24/13 - VM & SPRINT

is anyone else experiencing any extreme lag when waking up the phone? im running 2.1.3 and since updating to that ive had many times where it takes up to 30 seconds to wake up the phone. i'm gonna downgrade to 2.1.2 and see if i have the same issues. maybe its just my phone.

Mine did that and I'm not even on this rom. Check your governor and cpu settings and reboot. That fixed it. :]

There is a recommended CPU settings section for Sleipnir, in the OP :) As I've said before, do not have your CPU's minimum frequency set below the 2xx setting. Anything lower will cause numerous problems and horrible lag, especially when waking the phone up. Many others, including myself, have that problem on any ROM when the CPU's minimum frequency is set too low :p

Also, attention Sprint users, the ROM will be updated soon and will be compatible, in other words universal, and work with Sprint phones properly. Exclusivity to Virgin Mobile is about to be lifted, so stay tuned!

Very interesting. I would have to agree that It would be amazing to hit that button to take a picture. Is that the plan??

More or less. The goal is to launch the camera app, so that you can take a picture, instead of searching your phone (smartphones don't have enough storage space, in my opinion, to need a search button. I can see it for tablets, but smartphones? Really?).
 
Merry Christmas everyone! Sleipnir has been updated to v2.1.4 and, as a special Christmas present to Sprint users, there is now a fully-functional Sprint version of Sleipnir up and ready for download. Virgin Mobile exclusivity has been lifted, and you have pilot03 and giantpune both to thank for getting it off the ground.

yep this ROM has been very solid and running really well since i installed.

i have only had it crash/reboot 2 times and those were both related to FC'ing an app.

for some reason Jetpack Joyride was running in the background when i manually rebooted the phone. when i tried to FC it, it crashed to the boot screen twice in a row, so i uninstalled it. ;)

other than that, i had had exactly ZERO problems with this ROM.
 
Artine... could you post a link for me to download the mms.apk you used in v2.0.9? I really like that version better and have since lost my copy of that rom zip file, or post link for that rom again, thanx
 
This rom is my daily use rom and it's the best around . I like it a lot . No crashes or reboots on my end . Running at 1.6ghz , smartassV2 , setcpu , 6007 on antutu and 'nuf said on that end . Artine , how come you removed the wicked boot screen sound from the previous versions ? 2.12 had it but 2.13 and 2.14 does not . Can you post it up for us please . Last but not least , somebody buy this guy a beer for god's sake .
 
I found some small bugs . The 3g icon doesn't go away when you activate wifi . Nitpicking . Got a random reboot just once though . Can't say what that was . Happened 10 minutes after install . Did a double wipe on everything and installed rom , nothing else . Version 2.14 does have better ram management giving the system more ram available , less leakage . Kudos bro . My donate cash card was emptied out by kris kringle but on the first charge , I'm buying you one and if you don' drink you can buy pampers or whatever else your daily life requires :- ) Peace .

I'll attach it to this post for you :)
But if it's the black Mms app that looks like stock gingerbread Mms, the problem with it is that it's backported from CM, and you can't receive actual MMS properly, only SMS.

Yes. But there's no reason I can think of as to why you would want to revert back to a previous build, considering they are all stable since 2.0.9 and the latest build has an update to the kernel and hosts file.

I appreciate it, thank you. It appears, actually, that the boot sound got lost in all of the test builds I gave to pilot03 to get the Sprint ROM up, lol. I've attached it to this post for download, and I'll have a new build up for both ROMs with the sound included... as soon as DevHost is back up. Apparently it's down temporarily for some reason (probably maintenance).

That icon bug is something all the way from stock. the 3G icon eventually goes away, the phone just takes a second or two to switch over. And sometimes it leaves both on unless you turn one off explicitly :p Also, I laughed probably too hard at the Pampers comment xD

Thanks dude ! I flashed again and magically the icon problem is gone . Maybe it was the TRIPLE wipe i did . Also thanks for the tunes .

.. I managed to get the boot sound in there . Very nice . Beats the bootleg dance track supplied by virgin and I like dance music I'm a bass head . One of my favorite tracks Bad company - Ladies of spain - YouTube turn up the bass for best effect
 
Thanx for the mms.apk post Artine, but I loaded it and it doesn't seem to be that black version from the 2.0.9 version ...it looks similar but it has the "bubble" conversation style when the other one didn't, it just had list style, try again if you don't mind.

What exactly are the updates to the kernel? I didn't see any new governors or anything.

If it helps anyone out, I set my minimum frequency to 368 and it got rid of all lag whatsoever. I felt 245 was a bit too low. Just my thoughts.
Even took the max down to 15xx.
Afraid the things going to explode its so blazing fast.
Haha.
 
If i had the regular version of this rom installed on my Sprint OE should I do a full wipe of everything when switching to the actual Sprint version?
