Root [ROM] Undeniable Marquee for the LG Marquee LS855

I tried searching for the LS855ZVb firmware but couldn't find anything..

I guess you could always flash it to LS855ZV9 if you're on Sprint, but I don't know the differences, if any, in the firmware.

where can i get a copy of that version?

I flashed the ROM but I seem to be stuck in a recovery boot loop. Every time I reboot, the Marquee boots into recovery, not into the OS. Is there any way I can get it to boot normally? I've adb, but it doesn't recognize the phone.

What happens when you restore a backup? You could try clearing the cache in recovery also, but that problem was fixed in the latest recovery.

hoping to try this out for myself soon. Sounds like it works with the exception of a couple of people.
What kind of advantages are you noticing over stock (if any)?

I'm actually not sure how or why, but I'm getting about 30% - 40% improvement in Quadrant scores on this ROM. before I would get ~900. Now I'm up to ~1200, which should be about right for OMAP 3 hardware (droid x).

Great work.

The only trouble I've had with my bluetooth is when it's been connected for a while, the sound on my phone stops working. Even after disconnecting the bluetooth device, it requires a reboot to get my sound back.

I didn't have this problem with PG's ROM, but ever since the LS955ZVC update was pushed to my phone, I've had to revert back to the stock rom since my CWM/root is gone and I can't re-root/CWM.

When the recovery screen flashes on and off about 4 secs apart, hold vol up+ power and time tapping home during the screen blinking and it attempts to install the rom with the name and location that you specified in ROM manager.
(other keys have function if pressed at right time too. if slightly off time the device will only reboot)
Myself i found that renaming the Rom to update.zip helps but then it fails to verify certificate (on working ls855 not semi bricked when you hold vol down and power up)

I semi soft bricked my ls855, i named an optimus v stock to update.zip and tried to flash it. recovery bootloop. when power is off and charger cable is plugged it goes to sw upgrade mode. i can also access an emergency download mode. I tried lg support tool and it downloaded the update rom and stalled at 4%. theres also a program called lg kdz software update it comes in a .z7 (open with winzip) and a .kdd factory rom.

(will post links after enough posts new to this forum)

I also discovered an emergency download mode, but havent figured out what it dose. pull battery, reinsert battery DONT PRESS POWER and hold camera key and vol up then plug in usb cable.
Can anyone help me get some kind or working rom on my phone from the state its in? error E:unknown volume for path sdcard/update.zip
cant mount sdcard/update.zip
main 961 copy_path=null
finding update package....
then reloops

Download mode is for flashing a new rom to the phone. But it's more low level then the usual CWM method for this phone. Odin is a program used with Samsung phones like the Prevail which allows you to flash the entire firmware including flashing different basebands (radio firmware) while the phone is in download mode. The Marquee and most other LG phones though do not work. It's sorta of an escape route incase you bricked the phone to the point that even CWM or recovery doesn't come up. (unless you have a Prevail and used Rom Manager on it, then you've managed to brick it so bad that even download mode is broke. :P )

I don't think anyone has made use of the download mode for this phone yet, so it's kind of useless right now.

The equivalent program to Odin is LGNPST and LGNPST_CT (lab version of LGNPST). Though LGNPST can't be used with the phone in download mode since the phone won't show up in LGNPST when it's in download mode. So some other proprietary program LG made is what they use for the phone. Odin could in theory work with this phone, but someone would need to make a working OPS file for it first.

There is a good chance LGNPST could revive my phone given the features it appears to have, but unfortunately I do not have the DLL file for the LG855 (Boost version of the Marquee), so I can't do anything with it. :(

Example being that the program appears to have the ability to provision the phone and update the PRI (not to be confused with PRL which is separate). It appears the PRI is the source of my phone's problems as it's 3G radio refuses to connect which prevents normal hands free activation and PRL/Profile updates. I really wish I could find that DLL file. :(

I contacted LG and they say they can reprogram it for me but they would charge $45 + the time I have to wait for it to ship to them in the mail, then for it to come back. That's IF there isn't a hardware defect. If they flash it and turns out it's a hardware defect, then it's $45 + shipping down the drain. :P

it will stall at 4%, thats normal. unless you get an error or update failed. do not touch it. otherwise try this: http://androidforums.com/marquee-al...uide-flash-your-phone-back-stock-kdz-cab.html

The new official Sprint update (the one that kills root and CWM) apparently has smoother UI performance than stock. Wonder how it compares to this...

Come to think of it, Playful- maybe its worth basing a ROM off of it?

I bought a Marquee just a couple days ago. I had it rooted and CWM installed, and was so geeked to load a ROM that I didn't notice this one was based on Sprint's build. I've been running it for about 12 hours and haven't noticed any problems. radio works, wifi tethering works. seems slightly snappier, and I'm hoping it has better battery life.

Everything seems to work fine for me. I did start getting an update notice for LS855ZVC but I will NOT be loading it. Currently have LS855V9. I'll let you know if I run into any quirks.

THANKS PlayfulGod!

dose anyone know were to get the .bin files for using smartflash? im not getting anywhere with kdzu.
also a cwm image would be useful too
