Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

Hey Jerry, how comparable to compiling a kernel for linux is it? I've always cooked up custom kernels for Slackware, and wondered how different it is for Android?
Not a whole lot of difference really. I've been concentrating on the os while BobZhome has done some awesome work on the kernel. If you pull his git, look for the chaos config file, that's the one he uses to build for the OV. ;)

Jerry, this latest build is lightning fast compared to the build I updated from (11/21, I think). It also seems to be a lot less power hungry. Very happy with what you have done with this. Keeps me on the OV.

Cheers.

New build is up:

Changes:
-- Added Pedlar's CMBootanimation chooser to Settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Interface>>Bootanimation
-- Added two additional bootanimations to /system/media for use with the bootanimation chooser
-- Update to BobZhome's kernel v3.7 with support for a2sd swap and BT HID, Thanks Bob!
-- BacksideUpdater updated with option to check any downloaded file, option to delete bad download before trying again (prevents download renaming such as file.zip becoming file-1.zip), and updated gui elements

The bootanimation chooser will allow you to preview, change, or reset the bootanimation to default. I switched to my infamous bootanimation as default, and included the CyanogenMod and particle bootanimations as well in the system/media folder.

The BacksideUpdater will now automatically download the manifest when you open the app now. There is a new button at the bottom of the screen that will allow you to check any file against the manifest's md5sum. If the md5 is bad, you have the option to delete the corrupt file and redownload, or to delete the file manually. I also added progress spinners so it doesn't appear as if the app has frozen while performing it's background tasks. Hope you like the new gui elements! ;)

Thanks to Blarf, BobZhome, mrg666, tdmcode, LeslieAnn, thekraven, kermikalelite, Whyzor, bigsupersquid, the CM team, the AOSP team, and a whole lot more!

Bluetooth hid support? I thought that was already present. Maybe I won't need Bluekeyboard JP anymore... Will test and post results later.

For some reason my updater can't seem to find this one. I'll d/l from mediafire.
I had a typo in the manifest, it's fixed now so everyone else should be able to see the update via the BacksideUpdater. Still working the kinks out of the manifest.

Bob saw your posts about the issues with the keyboard, went back through his sauce and realized he left HID out sometime in the past month or so. He added it back in, so hopefully you won't have issues anymore!

BTW- check out the new easter egg under model, there's a very cute model in there! ;)

Ah ha! Suddenly things make more sense! I'll flash it later (got doctor appointments) and let everyone know how the keyboard works. Can't wait to see the Easter egg!

I lied. Just flashed it, runs very smooth. Love the egg, you rock! I'll keep you posted on the keyboard.
I had to disconnect, unpair, and check/uncheck every option. Then I scanned, long pressed the menu item for the keyboard, then as soon as I choose pair, I fast click the menu again before it says disconnected again. Then I'm able to enter 1234 in the phone and on the keyboard. Give it a moment, and it's working fine. ;)

Gotta see about a commit I saw to gerrit for extending the BT connection timeout!

Anyone know how to backup and restore filters in titanium backup when doing a clean install. I made a filter but when I did a clean install it was gone.

Quicksilver is now up to date. I've included a couple of extra boot animations this time round, for the new boot anim changer (which works brilliantly, by the way).

What is the path to the boot animations?

I found it nevermind.. system/media

wait, I tap on the zip (to preview) tap ok, then it just takes me back to the interface menu?

ok sorry, you have to have boot animations enabled in the first place, I didn't, so I unticked the (disable) and voila. Cool!

I have flashed the new 01312012 build. Ran into an issue with the boot animation changer in the CM7 settings. When I try to view or change an animation, I got FC's. It's not the biggest issue for me since I use Metamorph to flash my boot animation, but I figured I throw it out there.

New build is working flawlessly so far, boot animation changer is working, updater worked perfectly, very smooth and responsive, so far no errors to report. Keep up the good work!

I would guess then using the Metamorph app to theme is what borked the changer for me. Again, no biggy. :D

That's always a possibility, are you making sure that when you are trying to change the boot animation, that you're choosing a bootanimation.zip file?

Well when I hit "Change a boot animation" or "Preview a boot animation" it FC's. Most likely because I used that app (Metamorph) to theme the whole system framework.
