Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

Great new build, thanks! btw, got the usb storage to work, thanks.:)

For some reason i can't find the system/media folder to choose an animation, anyone know if it should be in the root of the sd card, or inside another folder?

New ROM is working great so far, but I'm still having trouble with one thing that has been bugging me since the last 5-6 builds.

Jerry, I think I mentioned this to you before. In the notification power widget when toggling either my sound modes or brightness levels, it's way glitchy. It usually takes me a few taps to get it "warmed up". On the first press of the brightness control which I have set to 100%/dim, it usually does nothing. I have to tap it a few times to where it will function normally. The same goes when I select sound modes for my ringer.

Not a big deal and something I've learned to live with over the past few months. Just was hoping you or someone else might have a suggestion to help remedy this.

Jerry, I'm working on my first theme in the kitchen. Is the black text in these submenus (popups?) coded into BACKside? If so, is there a way I can change it in settings. I can find nothing in the kitchen that changes that.

You should be able to in the kitchen. Look under the popup tab, there should be text color options.

I have the same problem as Omensedge, when I use the status bar to adjust the brightness, it works when it wants to. Which isn't often.

I don't believe you can change the text color on popup windows in UOT yet. You might be able to do smali edits. I'll look into making it an option in the future. I'm currently working on a set of GUIs for making theme type changes. The first one will be a mock up of the notification drop-down and status bar, allowing you to click on any element to customize it. I'll try to do the same for popups and other GUI elements as well. ;)

For the status bar brightness control, are you referring to swipe to adjust brightness or the Power Control Widget? The swipe to adjust requires a half second delay before you move your finger. It's working on a touch-intercept code block, and it has to be sure you aren't swiping down or clicking on a status bar button (there are clickable ones, just not on most phones, it's mainly for tablets). Long press the status bar till you see a brightness change, then swipe left/right to change brightness. If you are referring to the Power Control Widget's buttons, I'll have to look into it, I don't use it on the dropdown, I keep it on a home screen.

Serious noob question. The 1/25 build was my first non-stock ROM. I installed The Blues as my theme. Since I want to keep The Blues, should I wait until there is a 1/31 The Blues before installing the 1/31 build?

Also, when I do install the new build, will all my app icons still be in the same order on the home screens, or will I have to move them again? I have them backed up with Titanium, but I didn't know if they would just transfer over, etc.

Thanks.

How feasible is an option to select your preferred file manager?

Oh, by the way, the bluetooth keyboard doesn't work with the new kernel at all. I officially give up on that.

If you are referring to selecting it to be used with my mods, not very, the file manager needs to follow the open intents, so that I can access the appropriate intent in an action with request call. I could write code that checked for every known intent of every known file manager, but you know I won't be doing that. ;)

Did you see my post above about how I got my keyboard working on the new kernel?

I kind of figured. That's not a big deal, though. As for the keyboard, yes, that's the only way I got it to pair. The thing is, after pairing it just doesn't seem to do anything. BlueKeyboard JP doesn't work now, and even though it shows as a connected HID device it doesn't show up as an input method. I know some members have been following my little bt keyboard saga. I think the keyboard I ordered must be very different from yours, as I've never been able to recreate your results. I can't find the name of the manufacturer anywhere, and support is nonexistent. So the moral of the story here is don't buy cheap Chinese electronics if you expect reliability.

After I pair it, I just use it, I don't have to use any third party apps. Have you tried it without any BT apps?

Yup, tried that first. I remember you saying that you didn't need any apps, so I gave it a shot. The function keys on yours are labeled in red, correct? Mine are blue, that's what makes me think mine might need a driver. I'll keep plugging away at it, it's not a deal breaker. I just don't like losing arguments with technology.

Downloaded and installed latest. Would it be possible for the app to delete previous versions in the download folder? As an option even?

That's kinda built in, in a round-about sorta way. Press the I've Already Downloaded button, select the old version, and when it comes up as a bad md5 match, select delete. When the download page opens, just press back.

Once you enter the file selector, you are inside of the OI File Manager, and you can long press on files to copy/move/delete/rename/etc. Pressing back will bring you back to the updater. ;)

The next version has some gui changes that should make things a bit more intuitive (elements will only show when needed, and manual options are moved to the new menu_key menu, along with show changelog and exit).

Since there haven't been any bug reports with the updater so far, so I'll be extending the manifest to support multiple versions next, then multiple ROMs, then accessory packages. ;)

You can delete previous builds using the file manager.
I myself prefer to keep a copy of all builds, not sure why, but I do. :)

Guess I should get downloading!
Now if only there was a way to 'shuffle' the boot animations, so it would be a random different animation every boot. ;)
